Maxum made V and D drives for a year or two in the mid/late 90's.

I worked at Newport Boats in Corona (before they traded their Maxum and Baja lines for Sea Ray). One of them v-drives came through but I couldn't get them to take me for a pull. Don't remember too much about it, but maybe since it was super low production, the attention to detail was better than normal? No idea about the wake.

Yes, Maxum was a 'luxury' POS (like Bayslammer, Sea Ray and most/all other production boats.) Nothing against them, their just not built like customs or towboats.

They sold the moulds to Lewis Boats Australia, they sell it now as the "CHALLENGER" . Its a good design and leaves a big wake and can take plenty of weight.
