Just bought a 98'Sanger with a Velvet drive. Whe I put it into the water for 1st time, tranny slips under load. Any ideas other than Major problem?! Is there any condition that this would happen in that would be an "easy" fix?

Are there any V drive troubleshooting sites?

Any help would be great!

check the fluid level.

It is more likely to be the tranny rather than the v-drive unit. Check the fluid levels and make sure it's not a milky colour. If its low on fluid levels then I would change the motor oil & filters too, gives an indication of poor service from the previous owner.

You can talk to Skidim.com they have great maintenance & trouble shooting guys there.

Unless it was documented you can not knowingly sell a defective product without disclosing it. Call the past owner now and document everything. Start an email trail etc.

Does the prop have any dings in it?

another vote for fluid level, the velvet drives are notorious for slipping when low on fluid.

Check fluid level on the tranny when the tranny is used. Engine and V-drive should be checked before the engine is started.
