im still a beginner, but i find it ridiculously hard to flip my board around w/ a surface 180 on the water. i think its mostly because of my quad fin setup on my board (drifter 136) which is basically twice the contact area of other boards. i've got the gonzales 1.5" fins that came with it, but i want something much smaller for a little less grip in the water. what fins should i look for. i rode a skimboard behind my boat (flat bottom, not rails, rocker, fins, anything just flat) and it felt fine fins would have made it easily rideable

I would say save your pennys and get a bemont, they're wicked loose, and it sounds like the belmont will fit your riding style perfectly

We had the same problem when were doing testing with the Drifter 136. We ended up putting some 1.3" CDI fins on it. This allowed it to break free but still hold a real good edge. When we put the 1.0" Collin Wright fins on it got a little slippery but was pretty nice for riding over the slider.

I think they made a 1.3 gonzo fin. I would go with Lyle and go for the 1.3 or 1.0 size something in that range. There area lot of options as brands go. CDI, would be my choice for alum fins. Although I like the O'brien rail fins. They are just hard to find.

S. Mullaney,
How far are you away from Shasta? We are taking a company trip down there next week. If you are any where close I could probably hook you up with some CDI fins, take you for pull, and let you try out a few different sizes before deciding on which ones to buy if you like them. Check out www.cdifins.com. See if anything looks interesting.
