I've been boarding for a couple years, and just started hard this season. I got the basics down, surface 1's and 3's, butter slides, and some litle jumps. My question is about the fins. I know there good for beginers to help with balance and what not. But with out them, will it realy be much differant? I can se how obviously surface spins would be easier, but is that all it affects? Just by simple phisics it would seem to get better pop off the wake because there is less friction, is that true? I dunno, I guess the best way is just to experiment with it.

It will make your board faster, and way squirrely(?). Surface spins are easier and the board would slide every where if it's not on edge. If you jump and you don't land on edge you'll slip out. Your board may feel like it pops better cuz there will be less drag, and spins off the wake will be easier. There are advantages and disadvantages. Try it!
