In the clip he does a tail press through a turn at about 3:44.Anybody ever do that or know how hard it would be.Tips would be much welcomed.also i'm lookin for tips on how to do a tumble turn also.help please.
what are you talking bout?
Im assuming from Counterfeit this?
Dang sorry forgot to post the link.here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk5f_22oYrI
I want to say that Wakeboarding Magazine covered this trick in one of their older "How to do everything" issues. I know that doesn't help much but maybe someone can confirm that. Either way, it looks super cool. Thats what I like about Murray. He goes out and has fun every single time.
tantrum to blind, best done by The Boog Master him self! edit I think tantrum to blind is best done by him, but that tail press is sick! Lean back, and I think throw the crack away! good luck

If Murray had a signature move, I think it would be the 313 or the Blind Judge. No one does them better.
murray sig = raley
313 - josh sanders
Tumbleturn? Learn how to barefoot. That's where it came from. I don't know really how to explain it except cut out and build some speed, Try to stay more on your upper back, and make sure your board isn't dragging in the water. I know that wasn't much help but it's really something you have to figure out for yourself.
I'm pretty sure I still have that magazine. Nose blunt.
def...blind judge. Blew my mind seeing that for the first time.
Raley was invented by Shapiro and 313 by Murray.
I thought that Chet Raley actually invented the Raley?
i just said that it was his signature trick because i have never seen anybody even come close to holding a tail press that long.lets keep this thread going so everybody show your favorite trick by your favorite rider, mine is murray doing a s-bend in the video he did with Gerry nun.Sorry don't know what it's called but on youtube they have it listed as awesome wakeboarding.you can get to it by following videos off my link.

To me, the Blind Judge is all Murray.
bbr - I think Chet was coaching shapiro, and named it for him. I could be wrong though.
I think you're right train.
X5 Blind judge... I love that section from counterfeit, that's what started me in doing power slides & the front slides. I've tried the tail slide a few times you have to put all your weight back to get the board up like that. maybe the master him self will chime in on that trick....
Murray if your out there i would be humbled by your advice on this subject.
I'm thinking of Murray's ts raley bs 180... thats a signature move
Also note for that shot he is riding a flexboard (Roam) on which it is much easier to press - not detracting from the length or verticality (yeah I said it) of his.
yeah i know i got one this winter did a tail press in my friends lake while their suburban was pulling me.it was a little harder than i remember(the suburban may have had some thing to do with it),I'm dying to ride that thing i may go some time during spring break.
at the end of this video, I do one.. Nothing compared to Shaun's of course, but I thought it looked pretty good..
right click/save target as
And I was always under the impression that the osmosis 5 was his signature move.. Even though most moves he does are ridiculous..
X6 on the Blind Judge being Murray's.
I think he also does the nicest backroll nose grabs. Huge and smooth.
hey lyle thats a pretty good video yall ar better than me by far the best i have done was a Air Raley over my cousin his parents were freakin out after that though i did grind like a 30 foot floating tree one time you could get some serious air off the base where the roots start to go up.we were gettin like 6 feet till it snaped with my lion backer of a friend grinded it.

Murray: Blind Judge or huge raley to tumble turn.
I love that trick, the board press that the OP was talking about, I've been trying to think through the mechanics of the trick and the only thing that makes sense would be to come into the turn on you toes and stand the board up on it's nose....
Anybody here know Shaun or could Shaun himself tell us how to do that?
Murray memorable moves
"Old school" favorites;
Nose-grab Backroll & double-up stalled Three (i think done in mayday or counterfeit)
"New School" Favorites;
Huge Blind Judge & Tail Slide
on a side note - signature move on ski's;
double up backroll on combo ski's - awesome!
Don't forget the Blind TREE Judge on the teaser footage from the upcoming Team Hyperlite video.
i like his wrapped grabbed kgb 540s myself but he is the house of style so all of his stuff looks good IMO..
Actually, Parks invented the 313. I will always remember Murray for the tweety-bird and the hoochie to blind.
True...the wrapped KGB 5 with grab.
alot of these tricks are truly sick but have you ever seen anybody come close to matching murral on the tail press.
Jason Callen does a preety sick tail press.
Half cab 180 or Blind judge
Jesus...He wanted advice on how to do a trick not open a discussion on what Murray's sig move is. Unfortunately, I have no advice to give, but I too would like to know how it is done. So, can anyone actually provide any tips? Another example, 1:25 into http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhGkH6Mt_ZI
quote michael bowles(the guy who started the thread) "lets keep this thread going so everybody show your favorite trick by your favorite rider,"
relax man discussion sometimes goes random places other then where it started.
what i meant was don't just think this is about shaun murray's signature move cause i just wanted to know how to do this trick i was hoping i got lucky i could attract shaun murray and he could school us all on the instructional of this particular trick.but i do enjoy the list of trick the opions and the links.
I just sent Shaun a email asking if he'll pop in and answer for you..
thanks David, if you ever got a tricky question just pm me, we got a wakeboard think tank goin at bay springs.

Ha! Ya'll are funny. Good stuff. First off, very humbled to see so many positive things from you guys, just having fun while trying to push my riding through the years.
So where to start?
The tail press, or whatever you want to call it. Flying through the corner of the lake on the tail of the board.
Getting speed to get the board out from under you is key.
So cut out, in the whip is easiest, and get all of your weight on the tail of the board. People try to lift the board and that doesn't do anything but get it into a weak wheelie and then it plops back down.
So get all your weight on your back foot to where you are almost sitting on the tail. Once you are there, quickly push out your back foot toward the boat, almost like you are trying to spray the boat with the tail of the board.
So technically speaking. You want to get your center of gravity way behind the board and then push the board out in front of you. That is why the speed of the whip really helps.
3:13, is the actual tricks name. Parks did it first, I did it the next day, both on my lake and we named it together. Ahhh, cute. Long story, another thread.
Tumble turn, worm turn, back spin, fall down and get back up move. Whatever you want to call that.
That does help to have a barefoot background, but make sure you have a lot of speed and like Nick said, get your upper back on the water and make sure your board is off when your back goes down. If both are on the water at the same time, you stop pretty quickly.
Hope that helps.
I thought your signature move was left down left left right
it's actually in the pause menu. up down 10 times, left right 10 times. that unlocks EVERYTHING!
I hear that the trick works better on the newer Murray board(showing the love)
Thanks shaun, I have really been wanting to try this trick but couldn't figure out the macanics of it.thank you,it has helped a lot in my understanding of the tricks in question.
sick... try the nose press in this by Bernhard Hinterberger
Why is the trick named 3:13? Is it after a bible verse?
I believe it was the time the trick was landed, or something of that nature.
"People try to lift the board and that doesn't do anything but get it into a weak wheelie and then it plops back down."
That's how I tried every time and that's exactly what happened. Thanks for clearing it up.
Shaun, you're rad. What other pro comes on an internet wakeboard forum to explain tricks?!?
