Welcome to the 2008 New Jersey Riders thread! 2007 was a great year for the New Jersey wakeboarding family. The second annual New Jersey Wakefest in Bordentown was amazing, and New Jersey pro shop Surf & Offshore held a grassroots wakebording contest in Lavallette. We even had two premieres! Transgression and Push Process. The 2007 live blog addition to wakeboardnj.com is really cool too! And EVERYONE reading this can join-in the fun! Simply take wakeboarding pictures of you and your crew with your cell phone and then text message them to wakeboardnj.ridersblog@blogger.com and they'll instantly post-up onto the blog! Then once you're back home go to http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm and check-out the pictures that you and everyone else have posted. It's a really cool feature and, as far as we know, unique to www.wakeboardnj.com Looking ahead, 2008 should be another great year for New Jersey wakeboarding. Be sure to frequently check www.wakeboardnj.com www.njwakefest.com and right here to keep your finger on the pulse of everything that's happening with the ever growing New Jersey wakeboarding scene. See you on the water! |
woohoo, 2008!! Thank GOD i dont have to let 1217 posts and however many pics load any more, lol. |
ahhhh |

Is it too early to start mooching pulls? It was an outstanding year for wakeboarding here in the Garden State. There were more on water and off water events than ever before and more faces becoming full fledged and committed "members" of the New Jersey riding scene. All of which were our goals some years ago when we all started meeting and getting to know each other in this online forum. Again, we gotta pay homage to Dave Williams for putting this all together. WakeWorld has grown the sport, industry and scene in so many ways, and Jersey is a shining example of the value of WakeWorld! Here's to a great 2008 on tap! Here's to more people, more events and a growing place in the global world of wakeboarding. And, selfishly, if a few more people show up with tower equipped boats, I'm always ready to ride! I plan on being another huge wake-mercenary in 2008 as well, hunting down rides where there's one to be had. But maybe it's time to pull the trigger on boat. But that means a step towards adulthood and responsibility, something I've feverishly avoided all these year! |
Jeff, not too early for mooching pulls! You know we have dry suits! We're the first boat on the water for the season and one of the last to close the season! Let the count down begin! Happy 2008 Everyone! |
Hi everyone- i figured I should say hello in the New Year; based on some late night text messages and calls it appears that everyone had some pretty good New Years nights. Doug |
Hi All! |
We missed you Doug....Happy 2008!! |
Hmm, am I in the right place? Happy New Year all NJ wakeboarders!!! 2000 and ate! WOW! Looking forward to another great year on the water. |
Nice to see everyone checking in on the 2008 thread! Still a few we haven't heard from. Michele, Brian, JimB, Dave, George, Woody....to name a few! |
Ah yes! 2008 ~ Happy New Year everyone, only a few more months till we start this whole cycle again. I'm really looking forward to this season as Ant really started to get more comfortable behind the boat towards the end of last year. Additionally I'm anxious to try out his new hardware I picked up at the end of last season. ckeck„Ď |
Alright, I decided to hit Blue Mountain to get some of my boarding riding needs out of the way. Holy crap did it ever suck! Only half the runs were open, the upper snowboard park was closed and the lower one was completely flat. And, since I'm complaining, the wind chill dropped the temperature to -9. But I had the right gear on and I wasn't cold at all. Got to make a few turns and had some fun, but was over it in 2 hours. I'm counting the days until one of you boat owning heroes drops in for the first time in 2008. Who wants my $20 now for a pull in April? |
Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a nice time ringing in 2008! Wow, can't believe another year has come and gone. Time flies. Not to wish away the weeks and/or months, but I too am ready for warm weather activities. JB, I'll be ready in april as well including extra ballast (X-mas gift) and hot water shower! I'll be hitting the NYC boat show tomorrow around 2pm so if anyone else will be there give me a call. |
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! I too am looking forward to a great season ahead. Of course getting together in the off season is always a good time, but nothing beats the summer months of relaxing, drinking, and boarding with great friends. JB, sorry to hear about the conditions. Justin and I are dying to go (I got new snowboard jacket and pants I need to break in). This weather is just so beat. We thought with the cold week maybe we'd be good for the weekend, but then it's gonna be in the 50s...there goes that. We are thinking of a trip out west in March...anyone interested?? Also, everyone I am in search of a Roam. I really just want like an '05 or a great deal on a newer one (Size 139). If anyone comes across anything, please let me know. Thanks guys!! Michele-checked in!! |
Doreen and I have hit a few boat shows over the years, and with the exception of: 1)having a conversation about wakeboarding with Paul O'Brien without knowing it was Paul O'Brien, 2)being presented with The Blast Master 5000, and 3)being photographed with Twiggy the waterskiing squirrel, we've never found boat shows to be particularly interesting or fun. But you know what? Because I'm an incorrigible wakeboard activity robot, the same involuntary drive that had me: 1)driving the boat in THICK fog to check-out water, 2)made me sit-out pouring rain under the 295 overpass and 3)causes me to throw money down the drain to put-on a wakefest, now has me going to this year's New York City boat show! Yep...here we go again! Unlike the afternoon crew, however, we're probably going to get there early, be out of there by noon or 1:00, and then bounce around The City a bit: maybe Times Square, maybe hit Nat Sherman's at 5th Avenue & 42nd Street, maybe stroll around my old alma mater's campus at 116 & Broadway, maybe light a candle at St. John the Divine, and we're defintely going downtown to hit-up Chinatown for lunch. But if things don't go as (they are loosely) planned and we're still at the boat show at 2:00, we'll head-over to MasterCraft. And of course, I'll be sending plenty of pictures to http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm to document the day. http://www.nyboatshow.com/ http://www.natsherman.com/cigarUniverse.cfm?CFID=128860&CFTOKEN=11751336 http://www.columbia.edu/about_columbia/tour/ http://www.stjohndivine.org/index.html |
Michele, you'll love the roam boards, they're sick. I've been on one since probably either 04 or 05, been super happy w/ it. Otherwise, I should be at the show tomorrow if things go as planned. NYC bars anyone? |
Happy New Year NJ! Hope everyone's year will be healthy and prosperous! 84 days and counting till that first cool water April ride... Go PATS |
Boat show was a lot of fun. Good to see everyone again. The show definitely made me want to pick up a boat though, haha. THats why I know I should avoid places and events like that |
Hey Everyone, you can go to the blog to see some of the pics we took from the boat show. http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm |
Looks like Michele went riding on the river today?????? 34 degree water.......BBRRRRR! (I saw your blog on www.wakeboardnj.com) |
NO WAY!!! Did she really go in the water today? If so she gets lunatic of the year award. Happy New year all. I was down and out with the flu for the past week but I'm starting to feel better. This weather is seriuosly messing with my head.Thursday I'm finally going to see Ozzy Osbourne in concert with Rob Zombie, I can't wait. See you all soon. |
that should be a sick show Jim! enjoy it... if you can understand him |
Kevin and I were text messaging each other yesterday about the unseasonably warm weather. One thing I said was "Pops Lef doesn't Winterize his boat. We should give him a call and break-out the dry suits!" Little did I know, Michele was thinking the same exact thing! Well done Michele. Well done. Jim: I saw Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour back inthe 80s I think. Jake E. Lee was his guitarist back then. Metallica was the opening band, and that's when Cliff Burton was still playing bass. Then Doreen and I saw Ozzy and Black Sabbath when they did their reunion tour eight or nine years ago. I've never seen Rob Zombie. I think the singer of Powerman 5000 is Rob Zombie's younger brother. Finally, Doreen and I had a pretty good time at the NYC boat show. There were three wakeboard boat dealers all in the same general area, and there were plenty of friends to hang-out and chat with. It was definitely the most enjoyable boat show I have ever attended. Then the post boat show trip down to Little Italy and Chinatown was great too. Good times. |
Man jersey camp is serious to go in 34 degree water. |
Hey John, Happy New Year! Def. have to meet-up with you on Blue Marsh sometime this year. I have fridays off, so maybe then or early sat mornings. Peace. |
Holy Cr@p michele, (with one l) that is so cool, i don't know what to say. Doug |
Dave I am sure we can figure something out. I tried some 45 degree water...I still prefer that heated lake in VA its a 4 hour ride but well worth it. |
Michele All I can say is "Hardcore'. |
I'm trying to attach pictures but WW is being stupid...
Next, Pops lef and the Super Air Antique
Yes, I am wearing a snowboarding jacket...

That is frickin HARDCORE to the extreme. |
Okay, well I have to put the after pic in.
Thanks guys! Definitely cold Ewing...I don't blame you (worth the drive). It really was a sudden decision. I was driving past Harold's Lake on my way home from work Monday and was just dying to ride. Then remembered the warm temps for Tuesday. Of course my dad is always ready to go. So Alex, if you and Kevin are up for it ever, the 1980 Invader is waiting...lol |
Not only is Michele the first one of us to wakeboard in 2008, she's also the first person to post pictures on this thread! Michele...I have a wet suit top of yours at 60 Sylvia. You could have used it! And it's always good to see pictures of Pops Lef and the Super Air Antique. Hey! Who came-up with those catchy little nicknames anyway? |
Brrrr...I don't winterize my boat due to keeping in a heated garage. But this how we rode last Sunday 1/7...I think we were a bit warmer. I think it was around 10 and we had a little wind but were able to find some good riding none the less.

Hey Johan, Glad you are able to get on the net for a change of pace. I saw on the news today it snowed in Baghdad. So maybe you brought the weather with you!! George |

Cool clips Jim. Ozzy's current guitarist, Zakk Wylde, has his own band going called Black Label Society. BLS gets a lot of blast time out of the Blast Master 5000 every summer. http://youtube.com/watch?v=MhfotGKxA9A Hey Yohan, when you get back can I borrow you and a military cargo transport vehicle or two to haul gear around for wakefest? |
hey guys this summer im gonna have a slider behind my dock on the delaware anyones welcome to come session it with me |

Alex, I love BLS. I always felt their song "in this river" would make a great song for a wake video. Also check out songs from the opening band that night called IN THIS MOMENT. Heavy rock band with a chic lead singer. Pretty good. |
Gerald: A slider sounds like fun. I'm there! Maybe post some pictures here as it's being built. |
Michele, you must have Heavy Brass one's... Johan, keep it safe! |
not river friendly... but 5-7"s of white stuff is going to drop. Anyone goin snowboarding? I gotta try to hit some place, just not sure where. |
Good thing nobody was counting on me for a weather forcast, lol. That sucked. Other news which might be of some interest to you guys, I just started carrying 303 products, so if anyone needs anything for their boats, lemme know You know you'll get a good hook up :D |
Chris, I need some 303 for my seats. Save me a refill bottle in the spring. How about tire shine....what do you recommend? |
I used 303 for tire shine also not too greasy and doesn't fly all over the place when you start moving. I also don't wash the tire part every time I just wash the rims. The tires are not show car glossy but they look good longer. |
You got it Dave! And you can definitely use it on the tires as well like John said.....or, try some bold n bright. That has a really nice (matte) finish, I like it a lot. The 303 is just a little more expensive by a couple dollars. 16 or 32oz sizes are available in both. We'll talk as it gets closer though |
Hey all, I have not posted in a while...so here goes! New Years... WOW what a blast. Karen and I were in Key West, FL. Flew into Ft Laud then drove down the Keys, stayed a few days, rented some scooters and did the tourist thing. Was a great time. I did my best to post on the blog...but it was debauchery at it's best. We stayed with a few friends some of who you may know. My friend Matt from Avalon, he owns the orange Supra 24SSV. Heres a link to our smugmug page with the photos. http://karenandkevin.smugmug.com/gallery/4103654#239258182 Johan, Be safe man! You make us proud and I look forward to seeing you on the river soon! Looks like we avoided a big snowstorm....awesome. There is less to melt now as we get closer to spring. Chris N, we should talk...I need to replenish some cleaning supplies. I have been tidy-ing my shop and realized how low I am on some products. For those that don't know...our friend Doug is going to be taking a hiatus from NJ and moving to the land down under for a few months. He got a work opportunity to go to Australia for 6 months and work with a group of guys from his company. Once in a lifetime opportunity if you ask me and I wish Doug the best of luck. don't forget about the ridersblog on WakeboardNJ.com. Simply send a text or pix message to: wakeboardnj.ridersblog@blogger.com. Let us know what your doing in relation to wakeboarding or just in general. Then navigate to http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm to check it out! KG |

Gerald, build it and they will come. I see pain in my summer forecast. |
Gerald, thats gonna be sick dude. If you need any help, let me know. If i'm free, I can take a ride down and help construct a little. KG, you got it man. Gimme a call or shoot me an email and we'll talk it over. Jim... no pain... no gain :D |
I'm employed by a wholesale distributor of pick-up truck, van and SUV after-market accessories. We sell primarily bolt-on accessories; not hard parts or fluids. Nevertheless, reps from 303 came in a few years back wanting us to distribute their product, they left a TON of sample stuff behind and I've been using that stuff ever since! However, that well has just about dried-up. So Chris, I'm in for some aerospace protectant and some high tech fabric guard. Sound good? Pops Lef once told me why I shouldn't use any type of tire dressing on my trailer's tires, but I don't remember the reasons he cited. You reading this Jeff? If we're going to be sessioning Gerald's slider, a wave runner would SO be the way to go. I'd keep my eye open for one, but I can't tow both the Super Air AND a wave runner! Gerald: Are you planning a stationary slider or a floating towable one that you could bring to wakefest? (hint hint) Jim had some crazy slider plans a couple of years ago. Maybe you should pick his brain. And I know the guys at Lines End Wakeboard school built a slider on an old boat trailer using wood, PVC and 55 gallon drums. They could tow it any where, drop it in the water and use it anywhere. They were going to bring it wakefest last year, but Winter storms tore it apart and it wasn't rebuilt in time. |
Gerald I could still get my hands on 55 gallon plastic drums if you need them. |
Hey everyone. I'm new on the forum. Don't worry I'll only come to Bordentown once a year for wakefest. It's like a three hour pull from Long Island to get there. I hear your crowded enough on the weekends anyway. I see Jim needs some drums. I can get the 55 gallon plastic drums. The blue ones. I sometimes come across the 30 gallon ones also. If you are willing to drive into NYC for them their yours. If you can wait till wakefest I'll throw a couple in the boat if you want. (Message edited by lazypiper on January 22, 2008) |
I love the Wakefest buzz already!~ Michelle, I am envious of your already getting a pull under your belt in 2008. Now everyone's gonna have to play catch-up. And Johan, do you know what day you're getting back from Iraq? I'd say that's reason for a party right there in itself. At to our football fans out there, I guess Jeff Z from the greater Boston area is going head-to-head with both Alex and Woody, our resident Giants fans. Kevin, where do you sit on this topic? And as an Eagles fan, I can't stand either team! |
Welcome Kevin McGhean! JB, Normally I'd say something like, Go Cowboys to show-off my knowledge of the sport. LOL Giants/Patriots...Gotta Go Giants! |

Chris and I are thinking of a snowboard day trip this Monday if anyone wants to get in on some boarding with us. We are still figuring out where yet. I also hate the Giants and the Pats. |

JB its suppossed to be may 11, but we'll see how that goes! but there sayin we shouldnt be held over to long then suppossed to. but i cant wait to get back! cause the season should be on by then! aight well everyone take care of themselves oh ya i cant wait to hit that slider if it gets built!!!! |
Giants and Pats! Welcome Kevin McGhean! (do I know you?) Johan, good to hear from you again! Go bag some big game over there so all the troops can come home! Jim, you have mail! And some info for anyone who still needs their NJ boaters safety certification............at the AC boat show you can take the test-out option for only $25! Time to get certified everybody! Go to www.acboatshow.com |
Hey Dave can I get a NJ boaters safety certification online. I'm going to get my Virginia boating certificate online before Brostock. It's only $20 bucks to take the test online. http://www.boat-ed.com/va/index.htm Is my Power Squadrons safety good on the Delaware? I don't know if thats USCG or a Fish and Wildlife in that area. I like to have the right stuff. I can never seem to talk my way out of a ticket. Dave shhh You never talk about Fight Club |
Kevin, in NJ you just need a boaters safety certificate from your home state. You have to be a NJ resident to take the NJ test, which has to be done in person not online. Just to clarify to everyone, you need to be born before 1979 to take the test-out option. Younger boat operators have to take the safety course. |

Jim, I envy your working hours sometimes...I would love to go snowboarding on a Monday! Go Giants! (Message edited by njladydriver on January 24, 2008) |

Doreen... believe me... you do NOT want to envy these hours. Just ask either one of us after a 12 hour midnight shift, lol. Johan, good hearin from ya bro. keep checkin in dude! |
Doreen, I wish you guys could come with us. But my schedule isn't as great as it may seem to the naked eye. Here is my normal schedule if I don't work any OT. It's a 28 day cycle. Fri,Sat,Sun,Mon nights 5:45pm to 6:15 am Off Tues,Wed,Thurs. Fri,Sat,Sun days 5:45am to 6:15pm Off Monday Tues,Wed,Thurs Nights 5:45pm to 6:15am Off Fri,Sat,Sun Mon,Tues,Wed,Thurs day 5:45am to 6:15pm Then we come to today which is the part of my 28 day cycle that reminds me why I switch back and fourth from day to night with only 23 hours off to rest. Today starts my 7 days off before my cycle resets and starts all over again. These days off are nice but try having some type of normal eating or sleeping patteren while working this type of schedule is out of the question. My days run together like a big blurr and even when I'm off i have major sleeping problems and just feel tired all the time. I miss alot of sports and school things with my kids. Last year my cycle feel on alot of holidays that I had to work. I worked xmas eve and xmas day, Thanksgiving, labor day,4th of July,Easter Sunday and Valentines day.So my days off look good but my schedule is very tuff. But no one said life was easy.Enough about my crappy schedule, lets all go snowboarding. |
Jim, eat while you drive and sleep when you die! J/K ;) I feel for you, that is a tough schedule that is impossible to get use to I bet. |
Yikes, what did I say!!?? |
Doreen,no you didn't say anything wrong. I was just showing that my days off are great but it comes at a price. I wasn't trying to make you feel as if you said anything wrong. Just give you a peek at what my schedule was as opposed to what it looked like.I'm sorry if I made you feel like you said something wrong. That was not my intention. |
Jim, no worries, it's all good....I knew what you meant. That type of schedule IS grueling though. Hit the half pipe for me on Monday! |
i got plenty of drums im still debating if i want it to be one long flat slider to ollie on or something u can ride up on but i already have a rail so i might make this one to ride up on marine police will hate me this summer |

Gerald you got mail. |

Hey guys, I have been out of the loop for a while but wanted to see if anyone was going to the AC Boat show. The wife and I are going to be working the Allstate booth in the afternoon on Friday but are going to be walking around (dreaming) in the morning. Wanted to see if anyone else was making the trip. Hope to see some one there! Any one have a suggestion for taking little kids on a chair lift? I am taking the daughter to VT this weekend to teach her to ski, I am hoping 2 and a half is not too young, we shall find out. She is stoked about it which is cool, hopefully she doesn't mind the cold and the chair lift (mommy is already terrified of her baby getting on the lift!). Any suggestions? |
Hey Gavin, I was at Blue today with Chris and Jim. Saw a few little tykes skiing, mostly 5 and older though. No problem for them on the chair lift, parents were holding on real tight! Stick to the bunny hill and lift, those chairs usually aren't as high and scary for kids. And hold on to her! Two ways for coming down the hill. Either put her in front of you between your legs (no poles for her) or I've seen some use a harness around the child and you hold her up with a nylon strap coming off the back of the harness (you're skiing behind the whole time.) Keep it fun, she'll love it! |
If you are going to Killington they have a great skiwee program I put my kids in the two day program from 9 to 3 lunch included. Best thing I ever did for them and they were sking already. I was worried about the day being to long for them, but the mountain has got it dialed. Killington starts them at two. http://www.killington.com/winter/plan/lessons/kids/first_tracks/index.html |
Chris,Dave and I hit Blue Mountain yesterday for some awesome Monday runs. Temps were great and the place was quiet. We would come down the mountain and get right back on the lift with no waitng. What a work out that was yesterday,I'm a little sore today. I'm now the official king of route 145, thanks to Chris(TOMTOM) and his great sense of direction. If I'm off next Wednesday I might go up again. |
We are actually going up to Jay Peak Thursday night (I know it is a hike but we love that place and they have the best snow in the east!). I have purchased a harness for her so I can ski behind her and keep her in control, pull on the left strap to turn her left, pull right strap to turn her right. Plus Jay has a "magic carpet" which I know daddy will get bored of real quick! We have been practicing in the house at night walking in skis and how push buttons work (hands on the knees, push left knee to turn left, right knee to turn right, etc, it is how we all learned). She can't wait so it should be interesting, then maybe wakeboarding by the end of the summer! |
Jay Peak now thats a good way to start. Dont forget, Pizza Wedge, Pizza Wedge. I cant tell you how many times I was tearing down the mountain screaming that chasing my kids. Hoping they don't hit anything. Have fun she'll be skiing backwards in no time. My daughter Broke her other wrist snowboarding for the first time first run, two weeks ago. The first wrist to go was on the boat two summers ago. She says now the handle is going to hurt both wrist when wakeboarding. |
lol.. Jim, I take absolutely no responsibility for your multiple parade laps of rt 145! Maybe someone should've been payin attention instead of yappin on the phone! :D Good times though yesterday. It felt great to get back on the board. Definitely need to do it again real soon.... and gets pics of the bra tree too! |
I'm getting a little jealous about all this snowboarding talk, gonna have to try and get out on the slopes soon! On a unrelated note, Karen and I had "The Talk" last night... Only 3 months till potential WAKEBOARDING WEATHER! Wooooohoooooooooooooo! |

Hey Kevin,I drove up north today to drop my boats rear deck lid off to have it redone. On my way back I stopped at the scenic overlook on 295 to take a pic of our riding spot and almost got blown off the top of the stairs. I posted the pic on the riders blog. Man it was brutal out there today. |

Yes I dropped them off around Christmas. I told him I just need them back around April no hurry. When I was there he had a 32 Ford Coupe he was working on. It was really sharp with real leather interior. |

Everyone's got the boardriding bug? Would it behoove us to pick a day, a saturday or sunday, and all hit the hills together? We'll be the Jersey Wakefest gang! |

Im going up to Shawnee Mt. on Wednesday night with my kids. On Thursday morning I'm checking them into a 6 hour ski school and cousin Ken is driving in the morning so him and I will board while my kids are in ski school. |
Oh yeah...today is February 2, also known as Candlemass, also known as Groundhog Day. http://www.groundhog.org/ http://www.thisischurch.com/christianinfo/candlemass.html What's cool about this holiday is that it marks the halfway point between Winter and Spring. Yes people, we're officially and the dowside of Winter and easin' our way into the Vernal Equinox. I don't knw about anyone else, but I'm feeling behooved. |
is anyone going up to the mountains this weekend cause i will be up there all weekend snowboarding |
AC boat show is this thursday-sunday. I'll be going friday. I think only Mastercraft will have a display, but lots of BIG fiberglass to look at. Going to be in the 60's wednesday, cold weather coming back this weekend. Make sure you guys check ski conditions before making the trek to the mountains. Oh yeah, C'mon spring!! (I killed the groundhog) |

Hope everyone voted today! |

Floating docks. Hi guys and gals form Jersey. I'm at Harveys Lake, PA and have many floating docks for sale if anyone is interested. 3' wide by approximately 15' long-$50. 6' wide by approximately 15' long-$100. Our beach association bought them a few years ago and the old fogies voted them down before we could put them in and now we are selling. They include floats and everything and are in good shape. Give me a call or email if you or anyone is interested. I probably won't check back her for awhile. home: 570 639 5273 email: sk8mountain@yahoo.com |
Hello Rich! I'll relay the dock info to someone who has a house on lake Wally. Sounds like a good deal, someone should snag these! |
Thanks Dave, My parents live on the other side of the lake. I gave it a good try to try to get these docks installed in what is basically my front yard but to no avail. The countdown to warmth is on! |
Hey Schoolrider, Those have SLIDER written all over them! |
KG, I was thinking the same thing. I could borrow a trailer from my friend and bring some back. Anyone care for a pocono road trip??? |
BTW , the boys on the DC wake thread are tied with us right now. None to worry, I heard they don't last long at anything! |
Hey, Dave how you guys doing over here. |
Hey Jersey folks! We've already had our first Jersey session... People are buying docks to make sliders... All this when Puxatawny Phil just peeped his shadow 5 days ago! Talk about getting a good jump on the season... But I have a serious question I want to throw out there to the Jersey crew. I have long desired to start a wakeboarding school and this year I may actually make it happen. I am very early into it-trying to arrange the financial angle, the insurance, the equipment, advertising and all that. While I am very motivated, I am trying to settle on a name so my little baby will actually take on an identity, further pushing me to get this done. So far I have the "Garden State Wakeboarding School" and while it's ok, I keep thinking there's something even more catchy out there. So the question is this: Does anyone have a great name for a wakeboarding school? Please throw your suggestions out there. Thanks in advance! |
We hit the slopes yesterday at Shawnee and had a great time. My daughters had fun at their 6 hour lesson and Ken and I boarded all day. After the rain and warm weather on Wednesday the groomed the slopes and it made the snow nice and loose. Good conditions for snowboarding and the place was very quiet with no wait for any lift. JB just a few off the top of my head. New Jersey Wake Academy South Jersey School of Wake Burlington County Boarding School New Jersey School of Wake South Jersey Boarding School |
JB, that's great! I'd like to volunteer to be your first student! My creative juices aren't flowing too good today, but I like G.S.W.S. |
Believe me, I'm keeping at least 4 docks for sliders, but we have a lot. I'll get a count and pics up by this weekend. They're on craigslist now and I got a bunch of emails yesterday. |
http://picasaweb.google.com/schooledrider/HarveysLakeDocksForSale Here's some pics guys. Scroll down and there is a little info on the left. I think I counted 15- 3' wide docks and 9- 6' wide docks. I'll likely be buying a few of each for a slider. |
Very cool JB! Severn Boarding Academy The Gardens Gardens Board School 'Gardens' 'Mullica' Board School No. 5 |
Nice JB, Make it happen! My contributions to the name game! The JB Academy The JB Wakeboard Academy School of Wake JB's School of Wake |
Heres a quick video of Ken jumping a VW bug yesterday at Shawnee Mt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc9Rm_tdsS8 |
Very cool JB! As for names, do you have any names/places/etc, that have a personal meaning? Sometimes the best names come from something w/ personal inspiration. This is how I came up w/ mine. and although I've questioned myself on the name I chose in the past (mostly due to its length), I'm always complimented on it and happy I stuck w/ it. W/ that said, I do like NJ wake academy and garden state wake school. Just have to brainstorm really. Is there anything you definitely want in the name? (ie: NJ? JB? etc) or are those things that can be better placed in a slogan. Where is it going to be based out of? |
Like JB, I have to begin with a quick review: Gerald is building a new slider, KG wants to build a monster slider out of schooledrider's old floating dock, Ken and Jim are going Byerly and sliding an old VWB, there's a boat show happening in Atlantic City and JB is in the early stages of lunching a New Jersey Wake Training Facility! And what am I doing? I'm shuffling around the mall for a Valentine's Day card, picking-out cigars at JR's and looking forward to The Bud Shootout tonight at 8:00pm. Not particularly exciting. The date for Wakefest 2008 hasn't been firmed-up yet, but it's getting closer. Once I have all of that poop in a group I'll definitely let everyone know. Finally, I'd like to sell-off (cheap!) the 60 Sylvia trampoline. Anyone interested? Or should it be donated to The New Jersey Progessive Edge Waketraining Facility as the first official piece of wakeboard specific off-water training equipment? |
Hey Gerald, how about building a combination floating party dock/slider? You could have the slider on one edge of the dock with an up-rail and down-rail on each end of it. (I built a floater years ago up near Lambertville, 8 X 8 cabled to a chevy engine block at the bottom but after 3 months a storm took it away) The dock idea would be nice for us to tie-up to for raft-ups. If it's in front of your house you could pull it to shore at the end of the day to avoid problems with the po-po. If you need any help building it, let us know. The other idea would be to keep it behind the island for use at high tide, but it may not stay there for long plus it limits the use of it. So KG, when's the road trip to the poconos to pick up docks from schooledrider? (Message edited by njskier on February 09, 2008) |

Did someone say poconos? I'm ready to go back and do some more boarding.I'm thinking Camelback like Feb 25 or 26. |
25th might work for me. gotta check the schedule out. I'm down for helping to grab the docks too, again, as long as work permits. |
JB here's some names: Delaware Valley Wakeboard Center Del-Val Wake Camp Tidal Wake Center Tidal Wakeboard Training Academy Barton's School of Wakeboarding (any variation of above) |

Well, I spoke to my mechanic yesterday, and we agreed on a date to unwinterize The Super Air. I love it. For me, the countdown to Spring has now officially begun, because once the boat's ready to go, it's game on. Eeeeeee-haaaaaa! |
NJ Wake riders lunch tomorrow (saturday) at Chickie's n Petes in Bordentown. 1:00 pm. Come on out, talk wakeboarding, grab some crab fries, get stoked for the upcoming season. |
Went to lunch yesterday with Dave,Chris,Ken,Woody and EJ. Food was good and the beer was cold.Had a good time talking about last year and this upcoming season. Also I posted a picture on wakeboardnj blog of the very nice tshirts that Dave had made for the group to buy. Going up to Camelback Mt. this coming Sunday the 24th to do some boarding and skiing on Monday morning if anyone wants to join us.Should be our last trip of the year. See everyone soon. |
Man, we're just about a month out from actually being able to talk about seriously going riding! Awesome! But first I'm going out to Park City for a little snowboarding getaway. The WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association) has an annual "Summit" there and a bunch of us tag along to see some faces and go riding! Brian and Annette, I always seem to miss your parties! They sound like my kind of shin-digs, too. And thanks to everyone who has helped with suggestions for a wake school name. Jim, I took your idea and have come up with "Garden Stare Wake Academy" as the lead so far. And even though I don't have a boat, don't have insurance, and equipment or students for that matter, I do have one thing: a slip! I rented a spot for the summer on the Rancocas Creek so I have officially made my first financial investment for my dream! While that was pretty easy, the next one, where I commit to a $50,000 + purchase, may be a little more difficult! As a long time ride sponge, I guess it's time I stepped up! |

Hey JB, That's awesome man. The stoke will be alive this summer. |
Jeff good luck. Maybe you can help me land my first invert in one piece. I'm going down to the wakeboard camp in Florida tomorrow. I think I'll just stick to working on edging and maybe start going for the elusive 360 again this weekend. |
JB, congrats on taking the first step of your new business venture. If I can be of any assistance, just holler! Kev MC, Have fun down if Fla. Just remember what happened with your last 360 session! |
Drum roll please... A working date has been selected for Wakefest 2008! Some groundwork has to be done before an offical announcement can be made, but folks, Wakefest's wheels are definitely in motion. Wakefest 2008! Eeeee--haaaa! I am totally unfamiliar with snowboarding hot spots, but if Park City is any place that requires air travel, I hope JB caught his flight before all of this evil white stuff started flying around. |

Hey JB, if you ever need a student, you know where to find me lol |
Ewing, that would be great to have some of the DC Wake guys join us here on the river. Travel time from Baltimore........2 1/4 hours. Time from Reading, Pa...........1 1/2 hours. Johan, good to hear from you again! Your timing should be great when you come back to NJ, right now you're not missing much. We've had less than 6 inches of snow all season, not even that cold either. (no ice on the river right now, maybe that will help the water temps come spring) Mike Necky, we'll have to get you up here to ride with Kyle when the season hits. I have a feeling you guys will push each other into learning new stuff! |
Dave just got I just back and it was great. The only injury is like five blood blisters on my hand. They gave my a ton of exercises for the three and they figured out how i got hurt(that wont happen again). I rode at OWC yesterday its a crazy feeling on a cable. The boxs there wrecked the bottom of my board.Heres a pic from one of the kids at the camp. |

Another great trip to the Poconos. I took the family and Ken up to Camelback Sunday. We checked into the hotel at 2 and spent the day at the indoor pool with cold beers and good conversation. The kids swam and we had the the place to ourself. Later we went to the hotel bar/restaurant and had great service because there was only 2 other people there and the bartender asked us to stay longer because he was all alone. He hooked us up with some got deals on cold beers. Monday we met Chris at camelback and had great snow conditions and full sun all day. We never waited for a lift and had a blast. Here is some links to my first slider attempt and some nice work by Chris. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kTUjib6x2g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ubZqqGXoN0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m141PmO8R6A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU1j6AuvP4s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUV-0U3lFpg

Hey those videos are good stuff. |
Yesterday was awesome. Perfect conditions/weather. Definitely had a great time. After watchin those vids, I think I need some more practice, lol. The biggest rail seemed to go the smoothest for some reason, haha. ah well. until next time/week? Congrats on gettin through that slider too jim! thats a huge step for only 3rd time being out bro. Tell Ken to up the advils to 8 btw! hahh I think I'm going to hit creek either next week or the following week and just hang in the park for 4 or 5 hours if anyone wants to join. |
Kevin Mc, Looks like you had a great time in sunny Fla. I bet this summer you'll be sticking 3's and attempting some 5's! Jim, cool vids of you and Chris! Hope Ken stays healthy enough for spring riding (on water that is!) And for any NJ riders who would like a t-shirt I have some @ my cost of $11.00 each. Jim posted a picture of them on the WakeboardNJ blog. |
I wanted to throw this out to the locals first, I am selling my wakeboard (in the name of a new one). I am selling my 2006 Obrien Natural 139. Board is mint, and the only reason I am selling it is I found a 144 Natural (I should have bought the big guy size in the fist place ). Board is perfect, no dings or marks, looks brand new. Looking to get $175 for it. Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks (Message edited by holiday13 on February 27, 2008) |

Gavin how did the ski lessons with your daughter go? How was your trip? |
Thanks for asking Jim, the first day was a little tough giving her something totally new to try, she did well but got cold quick. It was snowing that day as well which I was psyched about, but the snow turned to rain but the temps stayed at 15 degrees so day 2 was ice and we didn't even try. Day three worked out well where she was skiing on her own about 50 feet at a clip. When we were leaving she said "Daddy, I liked skiing, but I want to try again when it is warm". Thought that was funny. We are going back in a couple weeks to try again. |
Holy cow! Kevin Mc, that is a HUGE wake in that picture! I swear, I got a buzz through my body, wishing I was there riding that wake. Just got back from a nice trip out West snowboarding in Utah. I've got some pretty cool shots of some epic conditions. Here is me, Kato and some of our group at our condo. But look behind us- it's just dumping snow!!!!!!!
Here's your truly in a fresh field of powder
This area was called "Jupiter Bowl" in Park City. We walked over to the left are we just bombed fresh, untouched powder.
Cool pictures JB. The one of you wearing a helmet is a gem! At last weekend's Chill & Grill we watched some video that was shot on the river last summer. It had us all in a trace. With Brian's wide screen tv, and the Super Air's gangster rap bumpin' out of Brian's stereo, it was like we had gone back six months in time and we were all right back on the river, in the boat and having a great time. It was really cool. I'll be heading to Bordentown late morning this Saturday to pick-up a 2008 ramp pass, and more importantly, to do some pivotal Wakefest legwork. I'm also looking forward to hitting Chickie & Pete's with Doreen for some tastey midday sustenance. (Message edited by nj_alex on February 28, 2008) |

JB, those pictures are beautiful. Tell Kato we said Hi! JimB, that's a great pic of the family and the youtube vids are too cool! While I love to see all of the snow, I have wakeboarding on the mind and still trying to check out flights to FL for the Air Nautique Wake Games next month starting the Pro tour season. |
Great pics JB! Hopefully Kato will find his way back east for NJ Wakefest 08'. Annette, Anthony, and I are headed to Jamaica in a couple of weeks to shake off the cold. I know after getting a taste of some warm weather I will be pumped to get this season underway. (Message edited by eustace on March 03, 2008) |

Well I have the itch bad so it looks like me and a couple friends are heading back up to Camelback again this week. We are going up Wednesday and staying the night so we can board early Thursday morning with out the long drive. If anyone wants to join us or meet up at the slopes you are more than welcome to come. Gavin, glad to hear your trip went well. JB, that powder looks awesome. |
On the list of threads, it said the last person to post to this thread was Dave Williams. But once here I see Jim as the last person to post. Weird. Any hoo, I've learned that you need a Bordentown ramp pass beginning April 1. But despite trying to buy one a month ahead of time this past Saturday, the Bordentown cop shop dosen't even have them to sell yet! I guess I'll try again in a couple of weeks. While in town I did some land surveying down by the boat ramp. It was funny to see garbage can lids with SOS sticks on them and a San Bar Marina sticker on the front of the the porta john door. The first date picked for Wakefest 2008 turned-out to have some insurmountable complications, so now a second date is being put through the wringer. Hopefully by the end of this week the official announcement can be made. On Sunday I was smoking a cigar and staring at the shrink wrapped Super Air. I took comfort in knowing that in about six weeks I'll be cutting that shrink wrap off! |
hey what up my jersey people! all the snow pics are making miss the cold! and the boarding. JB, so about the whole school thing, you got prices yet or can we schedule in some times, i wanna step up my riding this year! cant wait for WAKEFEST!! I know it will be awesome! |
Johan, how's it going over there? Are you about half way done? I look forward to having you back around these parts. I have just assumed you would be moving back to Jersey, but are you gonna be sticking arund or heading back t California? Alex, I have made my way past the Bordentown ramp several times over the last few months. Luke loves to ride the Riverline, so we head up there, walk down to the ramp, then make our way back home. And I can't see any reason not to divulge the Wakefest III date. Let the world know at your leisure, fearless leader! And Brian, I do believe Kato is gonna head back for Wakefest this year. He's always down for a good party! I think Ike is going to try to make it back, it's just a matter of if he's over here around that time. And things are slowly but surely moving forward with the wakeboard school. I may even have a Web site here shortly. Oh, the progress... |
its all good over here, all i do is work all the time!!!!!!! and its startin to get hot!!!! ya im half way done should be home buy 20th May. ya ill be back in jersey atleast for awhile, one day though ill be back in cali. but ill be chillin in the dirty for now! i cant wait to be back in the water and around all the good friends i made last summer! |
Hey Johan! It's good to learn you're doing well. We'll all be hangin' on the river, drinkin' beers and sharing good times before you know it. Oh man...JB has put me on the spot! But in actuality, I do have a couple of reasons why I can't announce Wakefest 2008's date just yet. Hang in there crew. I just need a couple more days! |
Chris,Ken and I are hitting Camelback Monday morning for what might be our last time this year. |
Ohhhh the suspense! I need the date to secure my vaca! Damn it! |
Chris,Ken and I had a blast at Camelback yesterday. The weather was nice and the place was a ghost town.My riding is slowly improving to the point where I'm now taking on small obstacles. I just wish I didn't wait until I was fat and old to try to teach myself how to snowboard. Has anyone received the official 2008 NJ Wakefest flier in the mail yet? In our area they should have started hitting in homes today. For the mid west and west coast, maybe tomorrow or Thursday. |
Mine came yesterday. |
Wow! We dropped them in the mail Sunday afternoon. Took less then 1 day for you to get it. That's Great, now that you have the date, you can mark it on your calendar and start spreading the word! We're trying to make it better then last year if that's possible! |
Ok, I have a small confession. I miscalculated just a pinch, and as a result I didn't buy enough postage to get the entire mailing out all at once like I had planned. No biggie really. Some fliers just went out a little later than others. And there's even a small handful that are still waiting to go! I don't know about anyone else, but these longer days now and the little bit warmer weather has really started to get my blood pumping! I'm only about a month away now from cutting off the shrink wrap, and I can't wait. Anyone thinking about any new gear for this season? The only thing I'm considering is a new handle and mainline. |
What is the date????????? I want to mark my calendar too . I'll have a group coming down from www.meetup.com last year we had about 10 people from the meetup group there. One question. Is there a marina that I can launch from? $50 is a bit steep to launch for a weekend plus a room. Or maybe Ill com down Friday and leave it a a marina for the weekend. |
ya whens the date? i dont think ill get one out here in the sand box!! Im plannin on buyin some closed toe boots a new vest and a wake skate |

Great pictures Jim! Funny stuff. |
Ok Jeff, Kev, this is where you give us a count down every week of how many days till Wakefest! |
64 days and counting! |
So far I have ten people coming to wakefest I'm hoping to get three boats down there. Last year we had a small group of 8 but never hooked up. This year looks to be alot different. The group will probably be 15 to 20 people. I hope not to many more. http://wakeboarding.meetup.com/19/calendar/7517429/ Dave W it looks like the guy wants to pick up the trailer March 29. I'm going with the Tidewater. They are going to set up the trailer at Sterling for the hull. Oh and don't worry your not one of the three boats. |
Kev Mc, glad to hear the whole trailer deal is coming together for you. That Tidewater looks like a nice piece. Let me know when you're heading to the lake to pick-up your X-star, maybe I'll meet you up there. |

Even though I'm not Irish I was trying to figure out a way to celebrate St. Patricks Day. After very little thought I have decided to head back up to Camelback wear some green boxer shorts and do some more snowboarding.Wait till you see how I celebrate Arbor Day,LOL. |
Heres what I'm doing on the 17th besides tring to drink all the beer in NYC. I'm the fifth one over with the black Guinness shirt on.BTW let me know if anyone needs alittle exrta weight for ballast. I know a guy.

Wow,that hat sure does make his head look big. lol Kevin have a beer for me and I'll dedicate one of my runs down the terrain park to you. |
You know I just may accidently refer to him as "ballast" now. Thanks a lot |
We have a good friend who carries a bit of manly husk, and his presence on Brian & Annette's boat while they were wakesurfing earned him the nickname "Big Curl!" He was also one of the grill masters at Wakefest 2007. Kevin & Chris: Did I meet you guys at the NYC boat show? |
Yes |
I added Wakefest to the Wakeworld events listing, and I see it's falling on the same day as Brostock #1 at Lake Powell. I guess we won't be attracting any west coast riders this year. |
Happy St. Patricks Day to all! (I know this is Justins' favorite day of the year) And we have an irish bagpiper in our group (lazypiper). Hey Kev Mc, are you in the parade in NY today? Laura and I will be hitting the local watering hole later for a pint of green beer! YUM! |
Yes it's 8:50 am and on my way to meet the band at a pub on 45 st. wish me luck I'll need it today. |
Happy Vernal Equinox people! The first day of Spring! I can't stress enough how I can't WAIT to cut the shrink wrap off of the Super Air. It won't be long now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox Dorothee's in town for a week or so. Maybe I should throw together a spontaneous Dorothee party! I have something pretty cool on the Wakefest burner right now, but it's still more ify than probable. You know, I've been dieting, excercising and working-out in preparation for the up season, but I think some solid boot camp basic training at The Wake Academy may be what I really need to get my 2008 season off on the right foot. |
I'm leaving the boat under wraps and taking my kids and some friends up to Camelback on Monday for our last ride of the 08 winter season. |
Hey all, Did everyone get the latest WakeboardNJ.com email Newsletter? Happy Easter everyone! Saw this on the news, really big vessel on the Delaware river! "Big John" http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=6036217 Wish I had the boat in the water to catch some pictures of this baby! |
What's up, Jersey crew! I send Happy Easter wishes out there as well, and I hope the bunny hooked everyone up with sweets and treats! I personally spent the better part of the day chasing a 4 year-old who was on an 8 hour sugar high! Needless to say I'm just as stoked about the fast approaching season as everyone else. Obviously I'm especially interested in the upcoming season as I'm on the verge of realizing a dream I've had of starting a wakeboarding school. Things have continued to really come together on all of this. I have a Web site, a boat on order and a whole lot of energy invested in this project with still plenty more to kick down. This is an informal invite for my Jersey Riders thread heads to go peep my still-unfinished Web site. What I'm hoping to get is as many suggestions and comments I can get from you as I move forward towards completion. From color choice to content- I am ready to take in any advice or direction you might have to offer. I am using a template based system to build the site myself, so it's not gonna win any art awards for design! Also, I have an actual logo being deigned that I'll be dropping in shortly. www.thewakeacademy.com Thanks in advance. And I really appreciate all the input I got with selecting a name. And Dave, my Dad was flying his plane of Saturday and was circling the carrier as it came up the Delaware. He had to leave the airspace once it was within 7 miles of the Philly airport, but he said it looked really cool from 800 feet up! |

JB the site looks great man. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I'm glad to see your dream is coming true for you. Today I took my 2 girls and their 2 friends up to Camelback to end the season and say goodbye to a mountain that has been good to me this year.I started this winter with barely being able to ride down a beginner slope to getting comfortable on a board now. My snowboarding on the slopes has progressed a ton in only 6 times on a board. I'm also moving up slowly in the terrain park. This video from today doesn't look like much, but for me to finally get the nerve up to go after the bigger slider was like slaying a dragon to me. We had great conditions today and created another family memory that I hope will kids will remember for many years to come. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-vMBZZy0U8 |
Jim, that's good stuff. What a triumphant way to wrap up the snowboarding season. And now it'll only be a few weeks until the start of wakeboarding. It doesn't look like you'll ever have the time to get that knee worked on! |
Jeff, The site looks great and I can't wait for the warm weather. Do I have to book my safe driving lesson in advance - HAHA! |
JB, let me be one of MANY supporters, fans, and friends to say CONGRATULATIONS! The new wake academy school is a huge move and one we all know you will succeed in. We all wish you the best of luck!! The site is looking good, templates can be very helpful in building a site and you will only get better. Do you have plans to take payments through ecommerce once you really get up an running? (paypal for example) Something to chew on. I can't wait to see the new boat as well! Big news is happening in Jersey and the Wakefest planning seems to have been moving along nicely. Hopefully I can get in some better shape for the upcoming season. This desk job, along with my laziness, has gotten the best of me this past year. Hope all is well with everyone within the NJ crew as well the those who drop in on our little piece of WW. |
Chris, I'll do anything to make a buck! Another buddy called already to schedule a sunset cruise! And Justin, thanks for the suggestion on paypal. I have an account so I should link it to my site. I also saw services that will allow people to use credit cards, too. I gotta get that dialed. But this is definitely going to be success by necessity- that boat didn't come cheap! I have a serious commitment on my hands but I'm sure it will justify its existence. I am just so excited about the whole thing! Little kid on Christmas eve excited! |
The website just keeps looking better and better JB. And I think the logo is excellent. Leave it to our in-house financial advisor to suggest you link-up to Paypal! What's up Justin! Haven't seen you here in a while. You wings, beer and cigar pictures from North Carolina were great! When you and Michele are in Beach Haven West you should pop over to 60 Sylvia for a little nip of the Oro Azul. Or we can go to my favorite cigar shop in Beach Haven and destroy a couple of robustos. It's good to see you posting Chris. On sort of a said note, I reached-out to Shaun Murray about coming to wakefest. He said he's like to come-up and hang with the New Jersey crew, but he already booked wakefest weekend to do a clinic in South Carolina. Oh well. |
hey everyone just wanted to say its hotter than hell here now hit 99 yesterday and it only gets hotter from there! i bet you all wish for the heat and the sun as well. |
Johan bring some of that heat back with you,Please. Hey Johan it turns out that Mo has joined the army and leaves in 2 weeks for boot camp. So no Mo this summer to ride with. |
Oh no! No mo' Mo? Say it ain't so! Where diddy go? |
What up Jersey! 78 to go.. JB site looks good brudda! |
I'd like to get shaun here sometime over the summer for a clinic! |
Hey Alex thanks for the shout out. I know I haven't been posting much lately, I work way too damn much now and by the time I get home I am usually only briefly checking email really quick and that's it. And usually that's about 1x per week. I hate not being able to get on any site while at work. It's getting worse and worse. Michele and I would definitely love to stop over. We've actually finished up the floors of the shore house so it looks money! I believe we will be there the weekend of the 4th and 5th so perhaps we can swing by. We miss everyone. I'll be in St. Louis traveling for work the 12th-13th. We had a killer time down in NC. The crew would love it down there!! (**hint hint**) The birds are chirping in the morning, that means SPRING is here! Got to love it! And even zukowski is checking in! What's up man? How's MA treating you? That's a shame that Shaun can't make it. Doreen is probably "upset". Haha. Oh yeah, Dave, thanks for the Happy St. Pat's wish. I didn't notice it before when I posted. I typically haven't been reading through all of the missed posts. We spent St. Pat's down in Charlotte, NC. It was a good time. |
Justin, My parents make settlement on the house they just built in North Carolina tomorrow morning at 9am. They are going to be living in Rural Hall N.C. from now on. |
Alex, sent you an email about some wakefest goodies. Hopefully you got it? JB, sites looking good dude! Keep it up! |
Got the email Chris. Thanks. You've got mail. Tomorrow, Saturday March 29, I'll be heading to Bordentown to pick-up my 2008 ramp permit and to do some event site mapping. I'll probably be hitting town around mid-morning some time, so if anyone's in town and feels like shooting the shiz and wasting some time, give me a holla. What Justin? Wakeboard/Indoboard party Saturday night April 5 at 60 Sylvia? Keep the count downs coming Jeff Z. It keeps the pressure on and keeps me on track. Hey Johan...can you get Cuban cigars over there? I don't think Uncle Sam would mind you bringing back a handful for a post wakefest celebratory puff-up! |
i think i can make that happen! ill see what i can do! i know we can get them out here but i gotta talk to my hook up at the post office to see if i can get them mailed back. but i dont see a problem with it. how many should i look at gettin? |
Justin, NC trip for the crew would be good <hint>. But savings for a Lake Powell crew trip...Now that's great! There are quite a few on here we haven't heard from in awhile also. Doug, George, Woody, Charles, Cole, Sean....to name a few. Hope everyone is doing well looking forward to the season already! |
i know we dont got any wakeskaters on the crew but anyone know any good boards? |
I usually keep a Hyperlite Scape 116 on the Super Air just in case someone wants to wakeskate. It's a generic user friendly board. And since it's topped with foam instead of grit tape, and also because I don't have to worry about jamming my toes doing kick flips or anything, I ride it barefoot.
Doug used to come on the Super Air and bring some everyday Vans street sneakers that he used to use as wakeskate sneakers. The dye would bleed out all over the wet towels everytime. |
Hi Guys, Checking in on the forum after a long winter. Hopefully everybody is thawing out and getting ready for another good season. Although Michelle certainly did have the first runs of '08, (and i am very impressed at her resolve), i managed to squeeze in a few runs just before '07 ran out. here are a few sequence shots from the rixen in ft lauderdale. looking forward to getting on the water soon!
Johan, definitely grab a couple for me if you can bro! And I was planning to pick up a wakeskate for jims boat, so we need to colaborate a little on that one! Charles, sick pics dude! |
Cool pictures Charles. I can't say I've ever heard of The Rixen cable park. Well, my cold weather trip to Bordentown today was productive. I got my 2008 ramp pass, I did some event site land surveying, we hit Chickie's & Pete's for lunch, in a one-in-a-million-chance occurrence we found ourselves at Manahawkin's Ocean Tent Rental's second location grand opening event in Mount Holly and we (Doreen actually) negotiated some really good pricing for some Wakefest rentals, and then we headed over to Lightning Jack's Marina to check-out the home turf of The Wake Academy. We also stopped at that big outdoor flea market on 206 for the first time, but it was too cold to shuffle around there for very long. I posted a handful of pictures at http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm I checked-out that website Chris. The focus is clearly on surfboarding, but it's pretty cool; funny actually! |
Yellow- Hi everyone, checkin in here while I have a couple minutes of downtime at my first day in the new office. In case you were wondering tommorrow is a pretty good day with about 25 (82)degree weather and not a cloud in the sky. (I got a alittle sunburnt yesterday but that is okay. Apparently there is a hole in the Ozone above this place so i am going to have to be more careful with sunscreen.) Besides that how is everyone and anyone doing. It looks like Charles had a good time in Florida. Jim and Crew has been ripping it up in PA and JB is becoming alittle bit of an entrepreneur. Doreen you know i miss you so whats new? Johan you should fly this way on your way home, I think you would like it. Anyway so tequila is extremely hard for me to find. When i do find it, it is outlandishly expensive, so i may have to indulge in the other vices our friends like. There is certainly no shortage of Cigars here and cubans are always available. Well i have to run but in case you are ever wondering what tommorrow will be like just shoot me an email and I will let you know. Alright talk to you all soon. Doug P.S. I just now received an email from Customs saying my bags are cleared, that means my wakeboard will be in my possesion tommorrow. Guess it is time to get on the water!! (Message edited by scilost on March 30, 2008) |

Alright! Doug checking-in from Australia! It's pretty crazy to think about how you're on the other side of the friggin' planet for the next nine or so months. Cuban cigars? Go for it brother. Go for it. Was it crazy warm outside today or what??!! I'm cutting the shrink wrap off of The Super Air on April 12 and I so can't wait. |
That’s great Doug! Glad to see you’re getting settled in. I hope you got your bags by now and don’t worry about that Tequila issue, just keep the faith and it will all work out. So much going on with JB starting up The Wake Academy, Wakefest 08, and beginning of our season edging closer each day…. Good stuff! We got back from vacation on the 22nd (we had a blast!!) and jumped right into baseball. I have a really good group of kids this year and Anthony is having a lot of fun as he is friends with so many of kids on our team. I think this year was a payoff for the last season. Nice pics Charles. See you all soon |
Hey Eustace...you have those Pop Warners sliding into second with thier cleats up? Are the pitchers instructed in the art of chin music if the batters are crowding the plate? You gotta love baseball. At the Push Process premiere Keith Lyman was definitely into coming to Wakefest this year. But he contacted me the other day to tell me he's obligated to attend LF's Brostock at Lake Powell the same weekend as Wakefest. Oh well. Strike two. I talked to SOS Craig today. He's really psyched and looking forwawrd to Wakefest and he has a pretty big announcement to make soon. I might try to get down to SOS this Saturday after work. And of course, a trip to SOS means a stop at Frankie's! Hey JB: Doreen says you need to add The Wake Academy website address to your WW profile. |
Alex and Wakefest folks: I'm also a publicist. Let me know if you need help getting local media coverage, calendar listings, etc. |
Ms. Salvatore? Help! In other Wakefest news, visits to SOS, San Bar and Flash are all scheduled for this weekend. Does stuffing my face at Frankie's qualify as a Wakefest function? |
Alex, I stopped by 60 Sylvia yesterday but you weren't there, I am assuming since you had to work and made a grub stop at Frankie's that I probably missed you. I'm down here in Manahawkin at my parent's house. Here's a shot of the lagoon on this nasty, dreary Sunday morning.
Yesterday was gorgeous out though, we had nice weather. My family got together down here to celebrate my mom and step-dad's 50th birthdays! We all went out to dinner at L.A.'s on Rte. 72 and then came home for some Mastori's Banana Split cake and some wine. It was a good time spent with the fam. The boat will be down here soon so on a Sunday or something when we're not boarding Michele and I will cruise over to the 60 Sylvia lagoon and will have a "nip of the oro azul" and smoke some stogies. SOS Craig is making a big announcement, hmm I wonder what it could be? That's a shame about Lyman, though I wasn't at the premiere to meet him I know his riding and he's incredible. We'll still have some great riders at the Wakefest like always. |
What up Jersey... Docks are going in this week! Time to get back to the regularly scheduled program... 68 to go baby... Much love |
Hey Zuka, you coming down early for wakefest? We'll be in the water that friday. Doug, good to hear from you in the land down under! Hope your having fun, post some pics of the area when you can. Charles, Ski Rixen looks like a great place @ Deerfield Beach. I'm going to have to try that next year when I get down there. You ready to ride yet? Justin, nice place your mom has there. Sounds like you and Michele will be doing some salt water riding this year huh? Alex, Jeff from Sandy Point Marine is going to contact you about wakefest soon. |
Justin, I'm so happy you and Michele get to enjoy what Alex and I have every weekend on the water. Gotta love it! As soon as the boat is in, let us know and we'll head over to Turtle Cove for some salt water riding again. The 609TCC crew lives on! Oh the memories. Wakefest is really starting to come together. Alex is hard at work as always making it the best ever. More info to be announced as it gets closer. Jeff, thanks for the count down! Can't wait... |
Justin: I didn't get to 60 Sylvia last weekend. I worked Saturday and spent the remainder of the weekend doing Wakefest legwork. You're going to get a boat behind that house? You think you'll be able to navigate the maze of lagoons to find your way to 60 Sylvia? You and Michele pulling-up to 60 Sylvia by boat; that's going to be so cool. LA's used to be Fabian's, and since the ownership change prices have gone up and quality has slipped. It's still ok, but it's not what it once was. As far as Wakefest goes, I can't believe how fast it's approaching all of a sudden. Two girls from Sidewayz might be coming out represent, but they haven't secured their flights yet. Dorothee's good friend Dominique has already committed to attending Wakefest 2009! Sheesh. Wakefest 2008 is still nine weeks away and plans for Wakefest 2009 are already being made! I have a couple of things on the burner for Wakefest, but nothing's been firmed-up yet. But as soon as things are in place I'll totally tell everyone. |
Hey guys. Things are starting to warm up around here! The Wakefest buzz is starting to pick up speed. People are starting to cut off the winter shrink wrap and pretty soon they'll be some shredding on out local waterways. Aw yeah! I can't believe we have someone already signed on for 2009. Further proof Jersey is gathering forward momentum. I have some exciting news on the personal front. They started building my Malibu Wakesetter VLX yesterday! Somewhere around the 27th of April there will be one more wake boat ready to hit the water. Of course I have so much work traveling that I won't be able to get near the water until mid-May. That's alright, I'll enjoy the (exoensive) pride of ownership. Doreen, thanks for the suggestion to put the Wake Academy's Web site address in my profile. I am surprised at the number of hits I've gotten already. I still have to finish it off so it'll be ready for business. Justin, can you instruct me on how to set up paypal to accept payment? I'm clueless. JZ, keep up the good work on the count. Johan, your countdown is looking good too! |
It's Thursday April 10, and it's an absolutely beautiful Spring day here in New Jersey. I have REALLY got the fever now! In less than 48 hours the shrink wrap will be off the boat and plans are already in place for this year's maiden voyage. I may even bring my gear to Saturday's Mastercraft open house just in case! Just like JB wrote, things are really starting to warm-up around here! |
Wanted to send a shout out from St. Louis, Missouri to all of the NJ Wakeboarders! Weather is crappy down here, a little cold but it's a nice city. Just ate dinner, #1 mission now is to find the nearest Cigar bar/Lounge!! I'm thinking about touring the Anheiser Busch brewery as well. On the way into downtown STL I saw a billboard for a place called Lumiere and what caught my eye were the words "Stogies and Slots, what could be better!" YES! So I found out it was a casino like 3 blocks from my hotel, guess where Justin's going tomorrow night?? (free shuttle too so I can get KRUNK!!) www.lumiereplace.com |
Hey people I just posted some pictures to my webshots when i realized there are a bunch of wakeboarding pictures from summer 06 including the turtle shore two county challenge, I forgot all about them. Check them out if you want. well all is good down here, talk to you guys soon http://community.webshots.com/user/scilost |
hey doug, i might be able to get all of those pictures your promised to burn me all of those times! haha, i'm just busting your chops!! glad to hear things are well down under. how's the new job (or role) going? By the way all, I didn't find any cigar bars/lounges last night so i was a little bummed. i did learn about one which is outside the city though. |
Hi all, Just wanted to check in. Things have been very hectic at work these past few months, and Justin and my weekends have just been booked up and flying by it seems. JB, I can't wait to check out the new school. The site is awesome! I have never been so excited to be losing a fellow boat whore...lol Hopefully Justin and I will join you in your status someday ; ) Hope Juliette Sky and the rest of the family are doing well. Jim, nice snowboard set-up. Bummer that it's the end of the season (although I know your stoked for wakeboarding to start), but it just makes next season that much sweeter!! Doug, we definitely miss you. Hope things are going well over there for you. Love the pictures on the link and of course the cigar pic on http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm Well done!! Can't wait for the wakefest and to see everyone on the water. Today was a sick day of riding and hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. Thanks so much to Sandy Point Marine...our new local Master Craft dealer...for your hospitality at your demo. Boarding with you all was awesome. Can't wait to do it again!! |
Doug, I am going to download Skype so next weekend when we're all together, we can call you and web cam to say hello. If you can, you have to do the top of harbor bridge. They hook a cable to you and the bridge so you don't fall. The thrill is so up your alley! But don'y try and jump off this bridge like you and Michele did at Raystown! What a great day with the Sandy Point Marine crew. We were with these guys all day through the sun, rain, thunder and lightening, and the switching of boats. It was a great time watching Alex, Kevin, and Michele (2nd time out) riding and beginning the season. Wish more of the Jersey Crew could have made it out. Here's a pic starting off the day, and also what we posted to the blog. http://wakeboardnj.com/live.htm |
Yep. Sho' nuff. The Sandy Point Marine Mastercraft open house was a good time. We got our first pulls of the 2008 season under our belts, we talked Wakefest, we enjoyed a few adult beverages and we made some cool new friends. It was also cool to hit a different New Jersey riding spot for the first time; the Metedeconk River. Want to hear the funny story of the day. Of course there were lots of laughs all day long, but the funniest thing that happened was when, after finishing her run, Michele realized she had put on MY wet suit instead of hers! She realized it was kind of too big when she was putting it on, but excited about her second pull of 2008, she just forged ahead and jumped in the water. But the real funny part was that I then had to get into a cold, already wet wetsuit for my run! But that wasn't too bad though. The plush cross-over Mastercraft we were on had a built-in hot water fresh water shower. So I just ran hot water through the wet suit, squished it on and I was good to go. It actually spared me that first shock of cold water. Big thanks to Jeff, Dick, Kevin, Dominick and Anthony at Sandy Point Marine for good times out on the water and at the marina. Of course, since we were in the area, a stop at Frankie's was mandatory! Frankie's was a great finish to a great day. The shrink wrap is off The Super Air, the swim deck has been cleaned, oiled and reinstalled and the engine gets unwinterized next Wednesday. The first day back on the water in Bordentown is right around the corner. As I was writing this three military helicopters flew over 60 Sylvia in formation. It was thunderously loud and very intense. |
hey sounds like i missed a great time well i know there will be plenty others this year!!! and alex i know what your talking about i hear that all day long even when i sleep i dont thinki could sleep with out that sound now! lol |
I just got home from todays visit to Sandy Pointe Marine's Open House and it is was definitely worth the drive. Those guys down there seem to be really motivated to make some things happen and they have a good crew of people there. Thanks to Michelle and Pop Lef for getting me motivated to go down there. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to drive down just to look at some boats, but when I heard there was riding going on, I changed my tune completely! It was great to get my first pull of the season under my belt. The X-45 put up a good wake in some windy conditions and it was just great to get a ride in! Thanks, Dave, for doing the driving. And we managed to make friends with the neighbors there, so Sandy Pointe Marine has gotten noticed by the locals! I'm not sure if we were actually supposed to be riding where we were riding, but a grossly overweight and undignified slob came out to his dock, cursed at us, and took pictures of the boat and crew when we finished riding. he repeatedly told us the cops were on the way, told us to "go back to the river" and walked away giving us a prolonged middle finger salute. Personally, I thought I had a pretty good set, especially for it being the first ride of the year, so I was surprised he didn't offer a more positive review of the show he just watched in great anger. Oh well, can't make everyone a fan! Other than that obese ogre, who couldn't rain on our fun, it was a great start to the season. I think it's going to be a great summer for wakeboarding around here! |
Hey guys! Another awesome day at Sandy Point Marine... http://www.sandypointmarine.com/ this time made the trip with PopsLef. JB, amazing riding today in the chop and all. It was great to see you! I posted some pics on the blog from today. http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm Can't wait to get on the water again.
Doug, how long have you been in Sydney? Liz and I were just there for a week and up in Port Douglas as well. We were probably running around the city at the same time. What a great town to hang out in. Make sure you are real good and sober to do the bridge cross, my buddy tried to go one morning after a good night before and he failed the breathalizer and had to jump through hoops to go up the bridge. We hit Manly and Bondi beaches as well as a lot of the other sites in town. Looks like the sandypoint openhouse was a blast, we wanted to go down but could not make it. How was the wake behind that 265CSX? Supposed to be insane! We are putting our docks in this weekend so the season should be starting shortly. Can't wait to see everyone at Wakefest! |
Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Joe, I'm a student at Villanova University and grew up in Princeton, NJ. I never really spent much time in New Jersey during the summer and learned to wakeboard and spend my summers in eastern Long Island. I brought my boat down to Trenton a few weeks ago so I could ride while at school. I was flipping through an old wakeboard magazine and saw an article about the New Jersey Riders 2006 thread on here and figured I should come check everything out. I keep my boat at Ross's Marina which is about a mile upriver of the Bordentown Launch ramp that seems to be pretty popular with you guys. I am down there just about every other day right now riding so if anyone is looking to get some early sets shoot me an email (joseph.flotteron@villanova.edu) , there is always room for more riders in our boat. I will be out pretty much all day Thursday and Friday and it would be nice to have some more riders out there. I have to say after wakeboarding so many years an growing up in Princeton, I would never have imagined there would be such a thriving wakeboard scene so close by. Here are a few pictures from my day on the river with two of my buddies this past Saturday. The water was still a little chilly, but in my 4/3 full i was plenty warm. I look forward to seeing more of everyone on the river as the season picks up.
Welcome Joe. Are you gonna be around here this summer? I ride alot during the week in the summer and I'm always looking for more people to ride with. |
Because I fear Kevin is too shy to post it... We picked up his X-Star last weekend. Look for us at Wakefest |
Beautiful boat Chris & Kevin. Congratulations. I'll definitely give it a good look-over at Wakefest. Hello Joe F: We sort of have a running theory/joke here, that all the pictures taken on the river end-up having the power plant in the back ground. Your pictures totally reinforce that theory! Welcome to the New Jersey thread Joe. See you on the river, and see you at Wakefest. And if you're on the river and you see a white Super Air Nautique with a blue and gray stripe blasting obnoxiously loud music, be sure to roll-up and say "Hey!" Good to have you posting Gavin. Yep...see you at Wakefest! Cool riding pictures on the blog JB. Johan: When those helicopters flew over I definitely thought of you. Very intense. Get home safe brother. |
Welcome to the thread Joe! If you get a chance check out www.wakeboardnj.com and Wakefest 08 is sure to be a good time. I'll be working the grill so stop by and say hello. Funny Alex! I think the Power Plant image is moving from theory to a phenomenon. It even found its way into Push Process. Nice boat Chris & Kevin, look forward to seeing you at Wakefest. Its great to see so many people riding this early in the season, my start is still a little ways off as baseball season is in full swing. We won our first game 11 - 2 and tonight Anthony takes the mound as the starting pitcher. Go Bulls! |
Hey Joe, Welcome to the thread. And to reiterate what Alex said, Oh Yea the Powerplant is in full effect! A lot of us have been watching the water temps on the river for the last few weeks. The temps are creeping into the low 50's and with a few warm days should be really tolerable. Whats up Gavin. Docks going in soon, I know that feeling. JB, funny story on the complaining neighbor. Eustace, I got a new logo for the aprons...and a new cooking idea for the dogs! Can you say blow-torch? |
Hey Joe! Nice to see you posting on here. (Joe and I have been e-mailing back and forth for a few months) As you can see, lots of friendly riders on the river. So how do you like the river so far? Looks like you had some great butter last saturday. Oh yea, I like your board too! Chris and Kevin, nice pic of the boat! Bet you can't wait to hit the water with her. (Message edited by njskier on April 15, 2008) |
It is definately a little different from what I am used to, but it has been flat every time i have seen it so I have no complaints. The power plant makes for some good photos too |
hey everyone so i bought 3 dvds and now that i watch some boarding im going insane over here!!! all i think about is riding and what tricks i can learn this yr.!!!! Hey Joe nice to have ya aboard now im not the new guy |
Yeah Joe! Looks like you have the fever like the rest of us! I'd like to mooch a ride with you if you're going out in the near future. This may be my last mooching as my ship's coming in next week! Aw yeah! JB |
Ill be on the river around 5 tomorrow until dark, but the boat is pretty full already, 13 kids in one x2 is a tight squeeze, but friday morning I will be heading back down to the river probably alone because my dad has work and my friends all have school. Fortunately I dont have class fridays so I have nowhere to be all day. Anyone who wants to come down and mooch a ride is more than welcome to. Just shoot me an email and ill let you know what is up tomorrow some time. Ill probably head down around 9 or 10 am and we would be meeting at the Trenton launch ramp right by Trenton marine center. |
hey JB i was on alliancewake.com checkin out some vids and saw your face, were you in DEL MAR? well atleast it looked like you??? |
so anyone getting new gear this yr.??? just curious cause i want to but dont really know were to look? |
Joe, see you friday. Johan, hope everything's going ok for you over there. After all that sun and sand I'm sure you'll be more than ready for the river. What gear are you looking for? New board? Vest? Handle? Craig @ SOS always has some deals.....hit the link below, he's got some 2007 leftovers. http://stores.ebay.com/Surf-and-Offshore-Wakeboard-Shop |
Johan, we'll see you soon bro. |
Johan, I have a Natural 139 I want to sell, awesome board just a little too small for me so I bought a 144. I have a set of XL Zeuses that I could throw in as well. I'll make you a killer deal on the set if it works for you. Let me know (Message edited by holiday13 on April 16, 2008) |
Ahhh college. I remember choosing classes so I too would have my Fridays free. Those were good days. Johan: Dave's right. I was at Craig's a week and a half ago, he's jam packed with inventory and he's always ready to make a deal to move some gear off the floor and out the door. But you know what? Remember how lucky you were at the Push Process Premiere raffle? Before you go out and buy anything you may want to wait and try your luck at Wakefest's raffle! Right Jim? Speaking of the Wakefest raffle, just today FedEx dropped-off a really cool raffle item from Sidewayz. I'm actually hoping it goes-out to some one in our core crew here. |

Johan, that was me on the mic. I've done that rail jam for 3 years and this year was by far the best show! The rails were all dialed in and the guys totally stepped up. Joe, I, too, don't have class on Friday. And while I do have students to account for, I will make arrangements to get them looked after. I'd like to join you for some morning pulls if you're still gonna hit it. I'm finally not sore from last week's riding down in Brick. Time to get worn out again! JB |
JB, ya i thought it was you man you got a good life! i really need to attend one never even tried to hit a rail yet, lame i know! AWWWW im gettin so itchy to ride everyone talkin about gettin there 1st sets in for the season!! ya ill prob. wait till i get back and hit up SOS and see what i can work with. |
Ok. What's the water temp? For real? |
Joe that X2 must have a little ballast in it the wake looks pretty meaty. |
Water today was 58, but with how much sun there has been it should be getting up there pretty soon. I am starting to get a little toasty in my 4/3, looks to be time to bump it down to a 3/2 or maybe even a shorty. Ewing- those shots were from my second set this year and I have been pretty slow getting back into my groove, so I have only been running stock ballast which is about 800 lbs. I usually ride with about 2000 lbs total in the boat, just havent filled all the bags yet because theres no sense filling all those sacs and wasting all that gas unless I can put the wake to good use. |
63 around here but I suspect the water will be 65-66 by the weekend, we are on a small manmade lake and the sun we are getting helps a ton. Which X2 do you have? |
hey i wasnt sure wwho ive told about the boat i used to ride behind, i know ive told jim about it, but heres a pic my buddy sent me so i thought id show you all. we made the tower our selves i think the motor had to be like a 80hp. but i wouldnt trade the memorys for anything. but just so all you know i never take for granite riding with you guys!! ever!!! see ya all in about 3weeks!!!!!! |
Riding was great today here is a couple of pictures of Dave and Joe. Joe thanks for the pull. Great boat and fun riding with you. I don't think we could of gotten better start to the season. I made sure I got the power plant in at least one shot, right next to where we got boarded.
Johan call me as soon as you get home in N.J. Dave and Kevin the river looks nice in those pics. How was the water? |
Yea good day today for sure. Dave, I might actually be able to make it to Bordentown tomorrow morning to ride. Let me know what your guys plans are and I will see what the deal is |
Jim, water was glassy all day. A bit brisk when you first jump in, but nothing a 2/3 wetsuit can't handle. Joe, nice to finally meet you and big thanks for the pulls. The wake on the X-2 was great! (Joe is a great rider too) I'll be out again tomorrow at 10am from Bordentown. Should be another nice day. (Message edited by njskier on April 18, 2008) |
Johan, that old Glaspar looks like a great tow machine with your home-made tower. Look how high the tow point is! Sweet. Give us your arrival date again, all the Jersey riders miss having you around. (You said May 11th before) Stay safe brutha! (Message edited by njskier on April 18, 2008) |
Great to see you guys out boarding already. I am sorry I am a warm weather boarder 52 degree water is too cold for me. Hope to see you guys out there in a few weeks. We still have our boat seats our getting done anyway. Jim did you get your seat back yet from that guy? |
Oh man. Great pictures of riding on the river. I can't wait to get back out there. Cool boat Yohan. My first wakeboat wasn't much different. Perhaps I'll post a picture when I'm back on my home computer. |
jim, oh you know i will, my phone got jacked up out here though so i gotta buy a new one when i get back prob. all the dust, so im gona need everyone number when i get back! my return date is supposed to be the 15th now!! but well see nothing is set in stone. I miss being around!!! hey alex i got some sweet picks of some helo's ill try to post them! i decided to get a slingshot recoil, anyone know of someone who wants to buy a practically new byerly?? if so let me no $200 |
oh ya JB youre gonna let me get a tow on that aweet new ride right?? |
Great to see some of the crew yesterday and hit the water again! Dave - thanks for the pull! How's Joe? I can ride today if anyone is going. Where's a good place to find some bindings? |
Thanks Dave! |
I am fine, they released my from the hospital after a few hours yesterday and just warned me to stay off the water for a while. I have had a pretty bad headache all day but other than that I feel fine. I will probably be back on the water this Thursday as long as my head feels good. Probably should have recognized it as an off day and called it quits after the first set. The official diagnosis is a severe concussion which caused moderate swelling in my brian. The swelling began to restrict blood flow to the brain and as this happened, I began to feel drunk or high as a result of the oxygen deprivation and ultimately it made me black out completely. If anyone is down for some ballast free sets this Thursday I am probably gonna go out on a short rope and just dial in all my spins at a lower speed. Send me an email if anyone wants to come |
So glad you're feeling better Joe! Not free this Thursday, but I'll be off every Tuesday and Wednesday this summer |
George, no on the seat. I'm gonna call him tomorrow and check on it.Have you talked to him lately? Chris,"I'll be off every Tuesday and Wednesday this summer" hmmm.. I have a couple Tuesdays and Wednesdays off each month and usually have trouble finding a third. We'll have to get together this summer for some awesome mid week riding conditions on the river. Joe, sorry to hear about your head. Get well and be carefull if your gonna hit the water that soon. I have been down here at work on overtime all weekend looking at the pics of everyone riding and I'm getting the itch bad. See you all soon. |
Joe, glad to hear you're feeling better. That was a really hard crash you had. Stay healthy. |
that wake is freaking huge, no wonder I ended up with a head injury. |
Sorry, coming in on the tail end....Joe, were you hurt riding? "Severe concussion which caused moderate swelling in my brian". Sounds serious! Nice to meet you by the way, I'm Doreen, Alex's better half. We will be on the river this Saturday morning with a few other members of the crew for the start of the season on the Delaware. It will be nice to see everyone back on the water again! www.njwakefest.com www.wakeboardnj.com |
dang season just started already got injuries!?! be careful joe, and glad to hear your good, cant wait to meet ya when i get back. hey doreen!!! |
Wow, A lot has happened in the last few days. Glad to see a bunch of you getting out there on the water. Joe, sounds like you had a tough fall, recoup soon man. Dave, 2/3 for the river, that's good news! I have this up on WakeboardNJ.com but here it is again. http://www.delawareriver.net/temp.php Johan, looking forward to seeing you back in dirty Jerzeee! Get home safe! oh yea...any chance you can you bring me a small bottle/bag/handful of Iraqi sand? |
Hey,JOHAN!! So glad you get to post here while you're there. The crew thinks about you. You're counting down the days I'm sure and you'll be here just in time for the 3rd Annual New Jersey Wakefest. I love typing that! More exciting news about Wakefest 2008 to post soon! Anyone riding Saturday? www.njwakefest.com www.wakeboardnj.com |
KG, ya i think i can find some sand out here!?! ill have to look haha. ya they try to hook us up as much as they can out here for morale, they got a sweet trailer with a bunch of comps. and i am totally stoked about 3rd wakefest!!!!! and just to ride this year, i ordered a slingshot and i can't wait to ride it!!!! |
want to make correction of my last post, im wanting to order a slingshot! havent yet, but im really bouncing between that and a Ricky G.????? |
heres the gator setup im looking at i can get board and bindings for as much as a slingshot board?? |
I think the Slingshots are flexie; somewhere between a regular board and a Roam. Personally, I wouldn't spring for a Slingshot until I tried one. On the other hand, I like seeing people on Gator Boards. I bought Doreen a Mary Jane!
As Doreen intimated, we're planning to hit the river this Saturday. The weather forecast is favorable, the boat will be full, the wake will be big and the tunes will be loud. Ah yes...let the season begin. |
WOW,Alex bought Doreen some Mary Jane. I hope the cops don't read this page. LOL |
ya i think your right alex ive been running this through my head for like the last month, and i think i might run with the gator! i like them alot to! and its better for my buck! ive searched the whole web and i couldnt find any sweet deals on slingshots, thanks for the input. |
Yeah Jim....I get on the board and find myself looking around in a nervous fashion! I'm only a beginner (for the rest of my life) so I can't even tell you guys how a Gator board feels. All I know is it pulls me! Sad, I know! However, the grahics on the new Randall board are amazing. I thought I read somewhere, or maybe Dorothee told me, he used his tatoo artist for the designs. So cool! Johan, you're so lucky with raffles, you should wait for Wakefest and see what you win! I know from a really close source , there will be a very cool item that will be raffled this year! I need a wakefest count down! |
Including today...53 Days till the NJ-Wakefest 2008! |
Yippers |
JB, the minivan looks waaay cool with the new advertizing on it! Do you happen to have those in mini size, say for my car window? I love it! You'll have to get some for wakefest to pass out. This is the perfect venue to get you started. http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm |
Do any of you guys have a wakesurfer that I could borrow for the next week or two? I ended up having another "episode" monday night and passed out while showering in my dorm. My friends found me on the bathroom floor and I have been in the hospital since then, although I expect to be discharged today. Because of this though, I definitely am not going to be riding for at least a week probably more, so I think I am going to just stick to wakesurfing so that I can at least get out on the water. |
We have a wakesurfer. Joe, what exactly happened? You had a bad fall on the water correct? Although I don't know you other then posting here, I'll be candid now....don't you think you should take it easy??? Sounds like you need to rest a bit. (Sorry, motherly instinct taking over). We may be out on the water Friday (Alex doesn't know it yet!). Saturday forecast doesn't look so good does it? I am watching them do the boat now as I lay in the sun with my laptop and tall glass of iced tea. Ahhh, vacation days are great! |
WOW Joe, sorry to hear. Good thing your friends were around. Take it slow for a week or two and get better. Hi Doreen, I hope that Iced Tea has a little Long island in it! |
yea Im definitely taking it easy, but its gonna be hard to stay off the water. I am definately going to rest up until this weekend, but by Sunday as long as I feel good I hope to get back out there |
Wow, Joe I just got home on the computer and reading this now.......holy smokes! What are the doctors saying, just to take it easy for a while? Did they do a CAT scan? Just get better and don't push it, you have all summer. I'm taking a break this weekend, should be back out next friday or saturday. Get better Joe! (Message edited by njskier on April 23, 2008) |
On the bottom of this page as I was posting, I see a link for Jersey Shore vacations! Funny! Kev, they are one of my favorite drinks but I forget how to make them and probably don't have ALL the ingredients. Besides Kevin can everyone see my posts? (tapping on computer to see if this thing is on) |
Joe, I would take it very easy for a few weeks.Even a light fall off a wakesurfer could do more damage. You are talking about your brain. Don't take any chances. Like Dave said, you have a long summer ahead. Take a couple weeks off and let your brain heal. Doreen, I always see your posts. I've been on my week off this week and started to clean my boat up today. I'm gonna spend the next 2 days on her them head down to work from Friday night till Tuesday morning. I'll see you soon. |
Doreen: Of course I see your posts my little Guppy; and I always read them more than once! So we're going out Friday and Saturday now? Sounds good to me! Joe: I concur with everyone else. There's no hurry to get back in the water. You totally don't want to jack-up your noggin any more than you already have. Take some time off, go back for a follow-up doctor visit, and make sure everything is back in place and in proper working order before you get back on a board. And Doreen...are you going to have wings and pińa coladas waiting for me when I get down there Thursday night? |
JB, the decals on the ride look nice man. If you get any kind of decals in a smaller size for your wake academy I would gladly put them on my ride to help you spread the word. |
Joe - I am with everyone else take it easy for awhile...I pushed a hernia a few years ago and instead of only being a couple of weeks it was all summer...really sucked! |
Alex, anything for you! Jim, it's always good seeing you. Let's hope it's sooner then Wakefest! Yes! Stickers are in order. We need Wakefest stickers too don't we? |
Went down to Jims yesterday and detailed his boat. |
Chris,Thanks a million for all your hard work yesterday. My boat looks great. Those products you used worked great and were easy to use. I'll be placing my order at www.glimmerglassdetailing.com soon. By the way, your web site looks good. I'm inching my way closer to the official start of my season. |
The cruiser looks good Jim. Nice work Chris. Sadly, the plans to get out on the river this weekend didn't come together. But the boat's ready to go and we're just waiting for a nice weekend. |
Hello everyone- Just checking in and saying hi, so Hi. I finally got out on a boat this weekend which was nice. It was just a bayliner, but beggers can't be choosers right? So the people were cool and I met two people from london, one person from france, another american and two australians. We wakeboarding right outside Amber Wings house, so that was sort of funny too. Anyway, Hi. I can't get pictures to shrink for some reason so there are three pictures on the blog. Doug |
Jim and Chris...........nice job on the boat, great shine! Doug, nice to hear from you again. That's cool you met some people and rode by Amber's house. I bet she's there alot in the winter months. |
hi doug, glad your having fun down under. i did a semester in coogee beach and wakeborded in a lot of those same places. it's such a sick place to be, i hope your really enjoying yourself. you should check out the university of sydney wakeboard club. it's a bit far from sydney but the crew is very nice, they have a malibu for the team, and everybody camps out over the weekend and rides. i met amber through the club and even got a chance to ride with her at her house. that cove is the breading ground for many of the aussi riders, including dean smith. you shoudl check out her parents shop also, wing wetsuits. other than that, i hope your enjoying the surf down there. i surfed maroubra (they just came otu with the "Bra Boys" movie which is about the beach and gang there) also bondi is fun along with the northern beaches (manly, etc.) have fun living the good life, cause that's exactly what it is down under. |
port douglass...i think that's the name of the cove...i'm having trouble remembering ps. the sydney club is not just for university students and the river they ride on is unreal! long, winding, with 150 ft high cliffs on both sides. |
Hey Alex, one of the guys in my fraternity here at school is the son of Brian Obyrne. Brian Obyrne is the founder the company that produces the energy drink Hydrive. It is pretty new, but you probably may have seen it in WaWa's and other Deli's in our area. He is always setting up booths and giving away free drinks at events here at Villanova, and said they were looking for more events to begin getting involved with. I told him about NJ Wakefest and said it is probably a good opportunity to come set up a booth and get the name of their product out there. If you guys are need of any more sponsors or free stuff, I definately think he would be interested so let me know and we could probably set something up. |
ChrisNJ, Nice work on JimB's boat. I got a 2005 Beetle convertible in my garage that needs a little TLC. I'll give ya a call this week. "Dougie Fresh" checking in! Nice to hear you got out boarding, regardless of the boat. sorry, I missed our Sat night/sun morn call. I'll drop you a silly VM on your compuder! LOL Gave the boat a much needed polishing this weekend...sunday though was a wash. Looking forward to the season! Wakefest Check: 47 Days |
Joe, How are you feeling? |
Pretty good, headache has been in and out but definately subsiding over the last few days. I will probably be back on the water late this week and just easing myself back into it. Definately no ballast or handle pass tricks for a while. |
alright know i really cant wait to get home! i just bought my gator setup and i only got 15 days left!!!!!!!!! |
Anyone know of any local place to buy Starlite XL marine board? |
Jim, not sure about local but try here http://www.shipstore.com/SS/HTML/KSB/KSBXL2460UG38.html http://www.piedmontplastics.com/locations.asp ^First one is in NY, this one is in Maryland^ Johan, can't wait to see you riding that new Gator board. Joe, good to hear. See you soon. (Message edited by njskier on April 28, 2008) |
Well...after 12 years riding my O'Brien Evil Twin I have finally moved on to bigger(not really) and better. Pumped to get out and ride. Got a new setup off boardersbestbuy...07 Era board and bindings. Bring on the good weather! This rain and cold the next few days definately sucks. |
Scotty, I ride an 07 ERA 147.Thats a good board. |
Congratulations to both Scotty and Yohan! It's always exciting to get a new board. Cool pictures on the blog Doug. Are you telling your new international friends about your goofy riding crew back in The Garden State? Joe: You have email. |
johan, what's up man. 15 days and counting...sounds great! keep up the good work and we'll be shredding the delaware in no time! see if you can sneak us home some oil, it's probably a bit cheaper over there... |
Jim, the boat looks great – nice work guys! Where’s Woody?? Did you get those Wetsounds piped in yet. See you soon Johan. |
What's up everybody. Brian, the speakers are all hooked up and ready to rock and roll.If you have any questions or you want a demo ride that can be arranged. They're pretty loud and it didn't take long for Teresa to come out of the house and tell me the neighbors were gonna get pissed off.
Kinda small, aren't they? |
J/K |
Woody,Nice looking speakers. I took your advice that day we talked at Chickee and Petes and bought a slightly used 07 CWB Marius 140 to try out this summer. See you on the water soon. Tell EJ I said what up. |
Woody, speakers are looking great dude! (whats powering them?) KG, sounds good bro. Just give my cell a call whenever you're free. |
Chris, do you have anything that will make our vinyl seats look white again, instead of dirty grey? No matter how hard I scrub, I mean Alex , they are just not as clean as I wish they could be. We have tried a few boat products that have been recommended and have not gotten any results. As most on this thread can tell you how clean Alex keeps the boat, and practically scrubs it down with a fine tooth comb after we get home from riding, still can't get the grime out. I'm sure there must be something that will make them white again without using a bleach compound. Tis the season alright....everyone is starting to come out of hiding to post! Gotta love it. Thanks Kev...47 more days till Wakefest 2008, 15 more days for Johan to get back! YES! Doug, keep posting on the blog, we love it! Big Kiss and hug to you from the crew...well, from the ladies anyway! |
In my experience nothing cleans vinyl better than a product called purple power. You can get it online or at most marine stores I believe. I use it during the summer to clean the boats at work and in spite of how much we beat up the seats on those x-stars it always gets just about everything out. It is very impressive stuff. I am probably going to be back on the river this Friday afternoon if anyone wants to come take some sets. I am probably going to be riding without any weight to make sure that I just take it easy and don't knock my head, so It'd be a good day to come work on riding switch and stuff like that. |
Good looking rig Woody. Teresa's hating it already? Welcome to my world brother.
(love ya' Doreen...kiss-kiss hug-hug) Eustace: I see on the blog that you have the Moomba all ready go. That's great. It won't be long now and we'll be boarding in the morning, rafting-up for lunch, wakesurfing in the afternoon then barbecuing and smoking cigars at the boat ramp. Oh man. I can't wait. Speaking of cigars...hey Johan! Any luck with your Cuban cigar search? |
Woody, nothing makes those new speakers sound better then when the woman gets to choose the music! Boarding in the morning, rafting-up for lunch, wakesurfing in the afternoon then barbecuing and smoking cigars at the boat ramp??? Oh man. I can't wait either. Alex, is JB back from the Wake Games? I was looking at the pictures and saw that blue 2008 SAN that Travis was driving. Oh what a beautiful boat!! |
hey alex ya i got 5, one just for you its a lil bigger than the other 4, i could only get 5 cause the place only took cash and its hard to get cash out here! half the time they never give cash back when we use cards!! but i got what i could ill try to get more though if i can! hey everyone cant wait to get home!!! |
Woody, Very nice setup, can't wait to hear them. I think your the first person I know that has gotten those type speakers. Keep posting on how you like them. Doreen, I personally use Castrol Super Clean(similar to Joe's Purple Power). It can be abrasive, and is a STRONG degreaser, but diluted works well and safe for vinyl. Just remember to treat the vinyl liberally after using it. Johan, only a few days to go brutha! |
Doreen........try a damp Magic Eraser (be cautious around the stitching)......you'll be amazed. Follow-up with 303 protectant. |
Thanks everybody, i cant wait to get the boat on the water for a sound test. Maybe this weekend weather permitting. Dave, dont hate. LOL Jim, I just got off the phone with EJ and let him know you said " what's up". With out all his help it would never been possible. Chris, I picked up a Kicker 700 watt amp to power the speakers and it seems to do a good job. Alex, I foresee a battle over the volume knob all summer long. Although the speakers project the sound well and it's not too bad in the boat. Kg, your more than welcome to test them out yourself. Just make sure you bring your Ipod and setup your play list. (Message edited by bwood on April 30, 2008) |
Woody, no hatin' over here.........lovin' those speakers! Can't wait to hear them from 70' behind the X-1. Oh yeah, everyone's gonna have their towers blastin' this year! |
Alright Yohan! Score! Those Cuban cigars might make a really excelllent addition to Wakefest after party. Speaking of Wakefest, I've updated www.njwakefest.com a bit. It's not much, but things are coming along. Woody: It's usually not as much of a battle over the volume knob as it is a battle over what CD should be played. For some reason Doreen just hasn't developed the same appreciation for gangster rap as I have. Eustace, is JB back from the Wake Games? |
woody - nice rack! getting the boat out Friday...anyone want to ride this weekend? |
Magic Eraser is the only think that works but I went through ALOT of them last year and it's alot of hard scrubbing. Kev, I haven't been able to find the Castrol Super Clean you recommended last year. I'll look again this year. |
Forgot to mention the website www.njwakefest.com. Updates are coming along great Alex. It's very exciting to have ANOTHER Sidewayz premier at Wakefest. Hmmm, Red Bull riders at the Wakefest perhaps?? |
SWEET! Another movie from SIDEWAYZ. I might have to get a room and get my drink on. |
Doreen That Castrol Super Clean in the purple bottle is sold at Auto Barn. Be careful with that stuff. I clean my boat with it. My shop use to give it to us to clean oil off the tops of elevators. Until someone noticed it said not for sale in New York state. After looking at the chemicals it was made of we stopped carrying it. The instructions say if used concentrated it can be used as a drain cleaner. I ride in salt water on Long Island and nothing cleans the salt and algae better. I use a bucket and deck brush like it's a fishing boat every time the boat is out and the purple stuff has been the best cleaner yet. It's great for cleaning the siding on your house too. If you want I can give you a Gallon of it at wakefest. |
Woody, the speakers look great and I will defiantly take you up on that offer this season! Alex, I'm not so sure; KG do you know anything about JB being back from the Wake Games? Doreen, last weekend while cleaning out the boat, I ran out of Spray Nine (which is my cleaner of choice). After looking around the garage for a bit and finding nothing I was willing to spray on the interior. I decided to mix up a little Aveda hair shampoo and water into a spray bottle. The concoction seemed to work well with a little elbow grease, smells nice too! |
Woody, nice job with the speakers. Lookin slick. Gonna be a sweet year. PS. LETS GO FLYERS!!!!! |
Eustace, Not really sure on JB. Hey Doug, Any chance you know if JB is back from Wake Games? |
alex, nice on another video premier!! even more excitment for coming home!! so were the video premier gonna be at the same place as last year, just might have to get a room so i can get my drink on after a great day of wakeboarding! |
I'm with ya Scotty,LETS GO FLYERS!!!!! Wrap it up Saturday Night. Bring on that Homo Crosby and his gay Pittsburgh Penguin. |
Doreen, What have you tried so far? I have a few suggestions for you, and Dave mentioning the magic eraser is certainly one option as well. Let me know what you've tried so far then I can recommend what to try next. I think I failed on calling Alex when he was going to swing by one day for the 303 stuff. So Alex, if you see this, call my cell Friday. I'll be around the whole day, just running errands. Thats awesome about another premier! I'm stoked that I got off that Sunday and the whole week after!!! Jim, get the seat back yet bro? Johan, definitely a good call on the room for wf. I think I'll probably wind up doing the same. |
Chris, No seat yet. |
If I was all of you...I'd call tonight and get a room! They are only holding so many. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can have her block some more for us. Kevin M - Sounds like serious stuff. KG swears by it...I'll check it out, and I'll be careful! Eustace - Does Annette know of your new found mixture? LOL Chris - Wait until Friday and I'll check the shed for what ever full bottles of vinyl cleaner are in there and I'll let you know what I tried so far! If only I didn't go through so many magic erasers at one time (and the cost), the extra scrubbing and the little elbow grease would be worth it. This RedBull premier is going to be crazy! Wakefest count down? |
Blackout that is awesome, Hi Brian (Message edited by scilost on May 02, 2008) |

Kev i don't know- Justin probably will know if JB is back yet, you here anything Justin? Oh i think i may have f'd up my foot thing again. Darn it. |
Does this mean Doug can start wearing slippers again in the office? |
Going Saturday at 10 AM...hoping weather holds out JB - nice article in wakeboard mag |
What’s up Doug ! Sorry to hear about your foot,,, it’s my goal to stay out of the BOOT this season. If it makes you feel better I’ll send you my club shirt. Yes Dor she knows, although I did get that that “just go with it, he is special needs” head nod. |

JB told me he had to go to San diego after wake games i think for 7 days not to sure though just know he was going after the games |
Huh, that's funny, I thought I heard JB was going to Seattle. |
Wait! Seattle? I thought JB said that he was headed to LV to pickup Kato for Wakefest. |
Tentative plans are in place to hit the river tomorrow. It's not supposed to be particularly sunny, but it's supposed to stay dry until at least 6:00pm. We're still piecing-together our crew, but look for us out there around mid-day. I thought JB was going to be heading to Green Bay for the NFL draft. But I guess that's contingent upon JB being back from The Wake Games. |
JB is back from Wake Games....I have inside connections on his whereabouts! |
Who's riding tomorrow? Sorry forgot to add that to my last post! |
It's Saturday, 7:45am, cloudy, kind of cold, and a little breezy. I'm really having troule staying focused and getting the boat ready for a tow to the river. I really want to do this, but these weather conditions just don't have me feeling like getting in the water. I still have an hour-and-a-half before I have to begin the tow. Who knows.... |
Here's some JB Wakegames footage http://videos.wakeboardingmag.com/members/viewVideo.php?video_id=976&title=Wake_Games_2008_Masters_showdown_ |
Ok, it's an hour later, and today's tow to Bordentown has been officially cancelled. I really want to take the boat for a tow, I really want to be back on the river and I really want to wakeboard, but it's just not a good day. Oh well. Maybe next week. I have some wakefest leg work I need to get done anyway. I guess by now every knows about the Blackout premiere. There's an important meeting on Monday with a local business owner, and if things go well I'll be able to announce the location. |
JB? Oooh we're playing "Where in the world is Jeff Barton?" (doesn't have as catchy of a tune as Carmen SanDiego does it?) JB's back from Wake Games but I heard he jetsetted off again to another location, perhaps Michele knows? Doug, dude stop hurting yourself!! No need to get injured so early, you still have a lot of time left down under. On another note, Michele and I have been brainstorming a lot of home improvement projects so we're excited about getting started. ChrisNJ, I have some car detailing questions for you if you have any ideas. What do you think will work well for wax and something to cover up some knicks/scrathes? I need to give my car some much needed TLC. Any ideas you can give me? |
Hey Jimbo, the Flyers are movin' on!!! |
WoW,what a game last night. |
Nice Ink Alex. |
Hey everyone, I made a similar post on WakeboardNJ.com but since that site is pretty new I wanted to see if I could get some replies on here as well. I'm looking for some dams/spillways to hit with my winch.. if anyone knows of any in their area please shoot me a post. Here's a nice one I found by me.. this is exactly what I'm looking for, just something a little more secluded
Hey Brett: I must admit, dams and spillways have never been on my radar screen. Good luck with your search. And if you find something cool and you and your crew decide to session it, perhaps let us know here and maybe we'll come-out and watch/video. Jim: Thanks man. Doreen and I have been talking about me getting a crazy back tattoo for years but it just never seemed to happen. And last night's tattoo was totally unplanned. I was going to be happy spending my Saturday night suffling around Home Depot! But a spontaneous string of events put us in a local tattoo place and the next thing I knew I was in the chair. Pretty crazy. If any one cares, there's a small series of pictures on the blog. http://wakeboardnj.com/ridersblog.htm Hey! It's Sunday and it's sunny and warm! I thought it was supposed to be rainy and cruddy like yesterday. Seriously, if I had even thought today was going to be nice, I would have planned to take the boat out, and with that in mind, I wouldn't have gotten the tattoo! It's crazy how things work out. Any word on JB Michele? |
If you guys are looking for JB,he is right here next to me in Deepwater NJ @ work. Our senior control room op. mans name is JB. A different JB, but he's still JB. |
Jim aren't you supposed to be working? |
Justin, I was on a safety pause. Today was my 6th straight Sat. and Sunday at work. Talk about sucking. |
Hi everyone! I haven't been able to post in a while and I'm glad to see everyone starting to get back in the water! I've been trying to survive the last days of school and looking forward to a little warmer weather for sure. It was still in the 40s all day in Boston. Hopwfully, we'll see some sun soon. OMG I am starting to get antsy again. Happens every May... Can't wait to jump in the water! |
39 and counting... Alex, nice piece! |
Kelly Lee, good to hear from you again. Hopefully we'll see you a few times down here this summer! Zuka, you riding up there yet? |
Kelly Lee checking in! Hope all is well with you. Very cool Alex, I like the detail and I can’t believe they got all that done in 3 hours. What’s up J2…. PS – Time for someone to step up and get that Grover tattoo… (Message edited by eustace on May 05, 2008) |
Awesome Alex! and Eustace, when you get your Tasmanian Devil buddy...lol Seriously though, I do want to get my tat soon (AND NOT GROVER) JB...hmmm...Last I heard JB was visiting Amber and Doug down under...Doug, you meet up with him yet?? And take care of that ankle mister!! J2 and Kelly Lee...it will be great to see you both down again for Wakefest 08. Brett, welcome to the thread...Good luck in your search! 39 DAYS Yay!! |
I think I'm next...I have the Tattoo fever now. Of course due to my job, it would have to be a covered one. But I would like to get rosary beards wrapped around my ankle with a small cross resting on the top of my foot. Alex's tattoo will again be added to at the end of the season. Not done yet. |
Any news on where the movie is gonna be shown for wakefest? I guess that will then let us know where to book our hotel rooms. |
Alright! It's kickasskel! Good to have you checkin' in Kel. Hope to see you at Wakefest. Jim, the premiere's venue is being worked-on, but there are no confirmations yet. As soon as I know I'll surely post all the info right here. But one thing that is sure is that I've gotten ten rooms reserved at the Bordentown Ramada just for Wakefest. I know at least 4 four or five of them are already taken, so you may want to ask fast. Be sure to say you want one of the rooms reserved for the New Jersey Wakefest. Doreen wants a tattoo, Eustace wants a tattoo, Michele wants an Elmo tattoo and I've heard Justin talking about tattoos lately too. Hmmm. Maybe this calls for a Manahawkin tattoo party! That'd be crazy. Michele...I think Doug already passed the JB torch to Justin, then Justin passed it to you. No tag backs! Jeff Z: Are you and your crew coming down to Wakefest again this year? |
Justin, what color vehicle are you working with? How bad are the scratches? Minor imperfections (light swirls, etc) can be slightly masked w/ the use of a glaze first, followed by a wax. I have a few great combos. Lemme know what color vehicle your working w/ though b/c it'll influence what I recommend. Brett, that looks sweet. Definitely post up when you're planning to session that.. if I'm off, I'd be down to tag along. |
David, Not yet, Doug's been super busy w/ work, docks are in though...Hopefully this weekend we'll hit the lake. Eustace, all is good baby! Michele, miss ya dahlin' Alex, most definitely! |
I just booked my room for wakefest. |
Chris, My maxima is charcoal gray. Some of the scratches are light, some are nicks. I'm looking to sell it soon so I'm trying to find the best way to cover up all of the blemishes and dress her up without actually taking it to a detail/repair shop. Thanks for any suggestions you have. |
Damn! Once again I am reminded that I have been a bad Jersey Wakefester! For the record, I was in Orlando, then in San Diego, and I didn't use my time well! At least not keeping in touch with my peeps back east. If drinking beer and eating carne asada burritos is thought of as time well spent, then it wasn't a waste after all. And while normally I am somewhat dissappointed in myself for letting down my Jersey crew members, I am a little emotionally distracted to day. And this is why: My ship has come in! I just picked my dreamboat up! Aw yeah!
JB that is a beautiful boat. If you ever need a third let me know. I would love to see that boat up close. |
JB, awesome boat bro. Love the color! Saw the ad for the wake academy in wakeboarding mag today... freakin sweet! Justin, your best bet for swirls/real light scratches is probably to try a combo of one of these. Either red moose machine glaze or black hole, (both at bottom of page) then follow w/ a quality carnauba like carnauba moose wax, 476 or nattys blue. All are found here: http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/cawaandgl.html The correct way would be to obviously polish them out by essentially removing minor amounts of clear until its leveled off to the base of the scratch. This will stop the light from reflecting off the edges, causing the scratches/swirls etc to be seen. The glazes, which are really just oil/filler heavy products attempt to, well, fill in, the light imperfections, making them less noticeable. You then top the glaze w/ a carnauba for the added protection and looks. If you want a chip repair product, langka chip repair makes a product that you mix to fill in chips. It works ok. Its tough for me to tell you whats best for your situation w/o seeing it. IF you want to email me pics, then I can try to offer more specific advice. |
Conragtulations JB! She's a beauty for sure. Just like Jim B (and probably everyone else), I look forward to checking it out up close. Cool dual axle painted trailer too. Mine is single axle and galvanized. Well, I guess now we finally all know that JB is indeed back from The Wake Games! Alright Jim (and everyone else), here it is. Wakefest's Blackout premiere is going to happen at Chickie's & Pete's! The post-wakefest party begins at 5:00pm and the premiere rolls at 8:00. Pretty cool, huh? The next time you see Red Bull Keith be sure to genuflect and kiss his ring! Actually, he might be on the river with us this Saturday. |
JB, Great news on the new ride! Looks real sharp. Blackout premiere! AWESOME, this will be killer and within walking distance to the hotel...or perhaps another Astro van sing-along. oh yea... Genuflect = S.A.T. word of the day! |
JB, nice ride! I bet you can't wait to splash her soon. (I see you have your reg. #'s on there already, aw yeah!) |
Jeff, that boat is sweet! Even though I'm not a Flyers fan, I really like the colors. If you ever need a third I promise to show up with ice cold beer and no Giants paraphernalia. |
i know everyone already said it but how can you not DAMN!!!!!!! nice boat JB!! hey alex, think you can get ahold of some gator stickers?? countdown for me is 6d then 8 till im back in the states!!!!!!!BEER!!!!!!!!!! |
Sheesh Johan...you're going to mule me back a Cuban cigar from the other side of the world somewhere. How lame would it be if I couldn't come-up with some Gator Board stickers for your new rig? I'm on it brother, I'm on it. |
JB!!! Welcome Back from the Wake Games!(Kiss and a long hug!). Holy Cow! I love it! Although I couldn't hear the splashing of her on the water yesterday, the maiden voyage was too exciting to put into words I'm sure. We have just about every different kind of wakeboard boat on this thread. Nautique, Master Craft, Moomba, Malibu....anyone have a centurion? Johan, you'll be back next week! I'm sure your calendar has a bunch of X's all over it. 36 more days until Wakefest! It's almost a month away! Yikes.... |
Jim B has a Tige! |
Thanks Kevin for making sure I wasn't left out |
Jeff that boat is sick, let me know when you are going out. If anyone is looking for a pull I am trying to get out tomorrow, but it looks like the weather has other plans. If it breaks I'll still go out but that does not seem very likely. I will definitely be out saturday and sunday though so long as it doesn't rain. Wind forecast looks a little foreboding but I am just going to bring a surfboard and surf if that is what it comes to, I have been off the water for 2 weeks now and it is making me crazy! |
Second Tige here, although I am probably more of a PA rider sadly On a cool note, I picked up a liquid force 118 wakeboard and binding package for my daughter. The marina at the lake had a great deal on is so I bought it and gave it to her on Tuesday for her birthday. She was totally stoked and would not take it off, just sat there rocking back and forth from tip to tail. Now all I have to do is teach her to swim this summer since she just turned 3! Does JB have an age limit at the wake academy????} |
Awesome JB!! Congrats again...What a sick boat!! Now Doug, Justin, and I are the lone boat whores...but if we were going to lose you, I'm glad we lost you to that. Never forget your ex-club members when looking for a third Alex, great spot for the premier indeed. I can picture it already...amazing friends, beer flowing, tequila shots, and endless crab fries and wings...That alone is exciting, then you throw an event like this in the mix...does not get any better!! Johan, so glad your coming home soon! It will be great to have you back here. All this excitement and talk about going on the river. Just can't wait to see everyone out there. If anyone is going for a weeknight session and needs a third, definitely let me know. I can't wait to try out my roam on the evening, mid-week glass...although the weekends should be pretty empty still. |
Woody, EJ and I took Woody's X-1 out last night for a few sessions.........no butter but still able to ride near the power plant. Woody mostly wanted to try out his new prop and more importantly those huge Wetsounds speakers! Man, they sound nice @ 70'. Thanks for the pulls Woody! Gavin, you're determined to get your daughter riding at a younger age than anyone I know, which is very cool! Take some pics when it happens. Joe, rain forecast for friday looks bad for riding. Should be alot better over the weekend. Don't forget MOM this sunday!!! |
Hey George, did you get your seats back yet. I'm getting a little pissed. I thought I'd get better service from this guy. |
Hey Johan: It just so happens I know someone at Gator Boards . Your stickers will be on the way soon. We're itching to get back on the water, we're hoping to make it happen Saturday, but we're keeping our eyes on the weather forecast. The tides are a little screwy on Saturday too. It would suck to be caught out there at low tide in the rain and be unable to pull out. Michele: The balcony pictures of the martini glass and the cigar ashtray are excellent. The crab fries pictures is pretty great as well. Yup...Blackout premiere at Chickie's & Pete's. It's going to be a great day followed by a great night. |
If you get stuck, head up to the trenton launch ramp. That ramp is usable no matter what the tide is, it launches directly into the channel, I love it |
sweet alex thanks!! im also trying to get more cubans but ill have to sneak them on me haha!! the itch is getting bigger and my anxiousness is increasing!! more and more everyday!!!!!! |
Sweet boat JB, Best of luck with it! Gavin, having gotten Ant started over the last couple years I can surly lend some advice if you are interested. Blackout premier at Chickie’s & Pete’s….. Perfect! Alex I guess we will have to find a place outside for the BOTL’s. |
Eustance, I will take any suggestions I can get!!! She is talking about it so much that I want to encourage her. I was thinking of starting her in the pool pulling her by hand, and when she is comfortable upgrade to the jetski. I figured that would be less intimidating than the boat. I was thinking a rigging up some sort of barefoot boom as well, but having never used one I don't know it this is the way the experiment! Hopefully this goes well! |
Gavin after you start her on the beach by hand, the boom is a great teaching tool. Makes it easy to communicate since you're only a few feet away. Maybe you can borrow my old boom from Dave M and mount it to your boat for a weekend. |
Hey there Jersey Riders! Just wanted to give you guys an update! The Wake Academy is ready to roll! Aw yeah! And go check out our new guest book page on the site! Fill that baby up! www.thewakeacademy.com ! |
Anybody have any idea how much rain we got today or how much debris there may be floating down the river tomorrow? |
Oh you can count on brown water and some good debris after that much rain. |
Oh man...Doreen, Connor and I are dying to get back on the river and board, but this weekend's weather is an ugly mess. Thus, we've decided to pull the plug on Saturday's Bordentown tow. Oh well. Hopefully next Saturday will be nicer. When Connor was tiny I'd stand in shallow water and hold him in my arms. Then Doreen would slowly accelerate and I'd talk to him as the handle began to pull and as he lifted out of the water. In no time he was popping-up on his own and riding away happy. BOTL's will always find a way Eustace. Continuing congratulations JB. Doreen's ready to enroll Connor for some tough love Wake Academy boot camp training! |
LOOKING FOR 3RD'S AVAILABLE MOSTLY ON WEEKDAYS AND WEEKNIGHTS AS WELL AS SOME WEEKENDS TO WAKEBOARD OUT OF BORDENTOWN. TRYING TO GET A CREW TOGETHER . I HAVE A 2007 BLACK AND WHITE MALIBU VRIDE WITH ILLUSION TOWER 1700LBS AUTO BALLAST AND WEDGE. HOPING TO FIND PEOPLE WHO ARE ALSO WILLING TO HELP WITH FUEL AND BASIC WIPEDOWN. GEAR AND LICENSE IS A PLUS. SEND A PM IF INTERESTED. DENNIS AND LISA |
I really can't personally help you get your crew going Dennis & Lisa, but I'm pretty sure I've seen you on the river and at the boat ramp. Welcome to the thread! And since you're looking to network with other area riders, Wakefest on June 14 is absolutely where you want to be. www.njwakefest.com As I sit here at 60 Sylvia looking out onto the lagoon, I see that it's not raining and now I'm sort of sorry that I didn't just roll the dice and make the tow to Bordentown this morning. If anyone's out today I hope they'll be posting pictures to the blog. How's the painting going Kevin? |
Well the weather just broke about 2 hours ago and we decided to run down to the river and take some sets. It was a little bumpy, but definitely tolerable, and it was nice to get back on the water. Who is going to be out there tomorrow? |
Dennis/Lisa, I know Jim, myself, Johan and one or two others get out a lot during the week, so hang around this thread and let us know when you head out. Jim, how you feeling bro? I didnt hear from you? Everything ok? Alex, that wf giveaway from 925 is on the way too. |
Chris, ya I'm good. My back is a bit stiff and sore, but I'll live. I tried to post a picture of the damage to the back of my car where that yo yo hit me but for some reason the last 2 times I tried to post pics to wakeboardnj they never show up. Maybe KG can figure out why. I think he blocked me . J/K |
Jim, I posted your pic of your car damage from my phone..........but forgot a caption. To all you moms out there.......HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! |
Jim I had that very same problem too. For some reason it wasn't showing the pics I posted. I think it's just a fluke because most of the time it works. You were in an accident? Glad your ok. One of my employees got into a pretty bad accident on Friday on the way to work and totaled his car. Steering linkage went out, he tried to correct it and "over corrected", it came back and he hydroplaned into the woods hitting a tree, snapping it in half which made the tree fall on top of his car. They had to cut him out with a chainsaw. He's okay though which is good. Banged up and bruised with a sling and a messed up shoulder. I am tired of this crappy weekend weather we've been having. Though it's sunny and breezy out today, I think I'm going to go hit up the golf course. My mom's working on a flight so we won't see her. Course should be empty!! |
JB, when you sign your guestbook, where's the comment go? Are you supposed to see all of the comments made somewhere? Did I miss something? (probably considering I don't read everything) |
Doreen, Welcome to the ink club. Nice TAT.How did that feel on the top of your foot? |
Thanks Jim. Actually, I was already an ink club member, but it had been a while since I got my last one. And I've been talking about getting this very tattoo for a while now. I guess seeing Alex go under the needle last week sort of gave me the fever (and the nerve) to finally go do it. Did it hurt? Oh my God! It hurt WAY more than I thought it would! But Alex was there to hold my hand and talk me through it and I toughed it out. But this may be it for me and new tattoos. Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm glad you're doing ok. |
Already got replies from dave and jim but not johan... Johan if your interested in my post on the 10th or anyone else is for that matter holler. Want to get as big of a list of potential riders as possible. Dont want to miss any good days of riding for lack of a third! |

Johan, call me as soon as you get settled. We'll go get a bite to eat. 6 more days bro! |
Jim If I get my boat back I am looking at this wednesday night, next monday day or night and next wednesday day only, as possible days to go out. Let me know if any of those days sound good. For that matter if those days sound good to anybody else as well or if anyone is needing a third those days near bordentown |
Dennis I wont know my schedule for next week till Friday for sure. I will keep you posted. |
Hey Dennis. I usually have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. I emailed you with my contact info.
Sounds good Jim... I will be without my boat till at least monday. Turns out the fuel pump was faulty. Chris I will check my mail! |
Dennis, bummer about your fuel pump but on the bright side a assume it's covered under waranty. I'll be out riding saturday morning if you and Lisa care to come along. Weather forecast looking good for saturday (so far) |
If anyone is interested, I am hitting up the trenton ramp around 7--730 am tomorrow for some morning riding. Joseph.Flotteron@villanova.edu if you want some sets |
I will go joe check your mail and give me a call I dont have your cell |
It's great to see so many people hooking-up and going out riding. You gotta love Wake World and this New Jersey thread. Yes, the weather for this Saturday, so far, is looking decent. I too hope to hit Bordentown Saturday morning. I'm still not exactly sure who'll be in the boat, but as long as it's not raining or really windy, look for The Super Air to be back on the river this Saturday. Plus, while there I have to do a little event site surveying. Things might get a little crowded this year and I may have to rethink Wakefest's layout a little. And look for some more Wakefest promotion to be hitting your mailboxes in about a week. Posters will be done soon too, and if anybody wants some for pre-Wakefest distribution, you should email Doreen. It's been sort of a tradition to have a countdown to Wakfeest. So what do you think? Should we start a countdown to Yohan? |
3 more days until Johan comes home to wonderful NJ! 30 days until the 3rd Annual NJ Wakefest! These are great count downs! |
Who is going to be out on the river tomorrow? I am hoping to be there from around 7-8 am until about 4-5 pm. Boat should be pretty full but if anyone is looking for a pull I might be able to squeeze 1 more |
Finally back on line Ladies and Gents... The wife gots a new DELL, (doomed), so I'm FORBIDDEN from my favorite "sites".... No more "mixed loveliness" for me.! (I grew out of that anyway... ) Sara and I booked w/ the Ramada tonight for two nights, 13th & 14th... Can't wait to party w/ you folks, 28 to go! |
Zuko, hopefully we can ride on the 13th bro. |
^Yeah Jim count me in too. |
Joe: If you see a Super Air Nautique out there blasting ridiculously loud music, be sure to pull up and say "Hey!" Or maybe yell it. Doreen pointed-out to me that I keep misspelling Johan's name. Sorry Johan. Glad you got your room Jeff Z. Talk to you Saturday night. |
Jim and Dave, what do the kids want for dinner? No Mikkie D's! ... |
So where is Mr. Kampfraat these days? --JZ |
JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN WHERE ARE YOU??? Zuko I don't get the Mikkie D's joke?? |
It was nice to see part of the group again yesterday, nice to meet Jamie and get my first ride of the season. Thanks for the pulls Dave. Man am I sore as hell today. Thanks Charles for the edging tip yesterday. I'm going focus on that now and try to improve my pop off the wake. See you all soon. |
hey im back i got in last nite at like 8 pm i need to get my phone activated, im at the cherry hill mall in the apple store on there comp. haha! but i will be hittin everyone up after i get back from cali on sun. hope the weather gets better too!!! aight well gotta go oh ya im gonna need everyones #s again since the sand killed my cell i dont have them anymore lata |
No worries Jim, I was just bustin em'.... The kids love Mikkie D's these days, that's all... |
Good to have you back Johan. Welcome home. Ever since I've had it, The Super Air has seemed invincible to me. It's just always been good, strong, and has had few problems, if any. But this Saturday its Perfect Pass decided to give me grief. For whatever reason, the information from the paddle wheel is just not getting to the central processing unit. I'm going to call Perfect Pass on Tuesday (closed Monday for some Canadian holiday. Yes, PP is in Canada) to see if they have any suggestions. But like Jim said, it was good to see everyone again after a seemingly long Winter. |
Who wants to ride Wednesday? Dennis and I are talking about riding this Wednesday out of Bordentown. Anyone wanna ride Wednesday? Depending on how many of us there are we will either take 1 boat or 2. |
Like wise, it was good to see everyone on Saturday and take in the scene that is wakeboarding at Bordentown. Woody and I were reflecting on the days when it was pretty much He and I being the only 2 wake boats in site. It’s cool to see this community grow! Joe it was nice to meet you, and a big thanks to Alex for the pull after my 8-month lay-up. It felt great to be back on the water and what better way to jump back in then going a set behind the SANTE, although I think I closed my eyes the first time I headed into that wake! |
Woody and Brian, that does have to be cool to watch the genesis of the Jersey wake scene over the last few years. I'm looking forward to cruising my boat up to Bordentown this summer for some shredding! I hope you locals will allow one more bright orange and black pleasure craft to peacefully coexist up there from time to time. Johan, welcome back! Geez, I'm sure the countdown to getting home was painfully slow but now you're back in the Dirty Jersey! And I was just reading through some of the older posts that I hadn't seen before. I saw the "Where's Waldo"-esque exchange over where I was going to be at any given time. I have another crazy one coming up next week, but then things mellow out, at least by my standards. |
JB, bring that VLX up here........we'll help you break it in! You're only a short cruise away. In the past I would run from Trenton down to Dave and Busters, great destination for a lunch break and some gaming. Johan, when you return from Cali we need to get you back out on the water. If you're available next friday-sunday post it and we'll give you a pull. Zuka, my kids love Mickey Dees! |
the Mickey DEE's will kill ya....NO JOKE;) Looking forward to the weekend, should be in the 70* degree range!, Sunny for once...ENJOY! 24 and counting... |
Johan~! Welcome back! Cannot wait for Wakefest to happen~ I may be chugging down to NY this weekend so maybe I could stop by Trenton to say hello to everyone and to squeeze in the first set of the season (I am obviously falling waaaaay behind Michele on this one). Anyone going out this Saturday/Sunday/Monday that could accomodate a third? |
Hello Kelly Lee! Nice to hear from you again. I'll be out this weekend, saturday and/or sunday morning. Room for one more is never a problem. If your cell # is still the same, I'll try to contact you. |
Cold is the best way to describe todays water at Bordentown. Today I put the TIGE in for the first dip of the season and she purred like a kitten.Johan got his first post Iraq run of the season. He had his new board and after only a couple minutes of feeling it out he was popping just like last season. Johan brought his buddy Tom from the base with him who also rode today for only his 4th time. It was nice to see Tom and his girlfriend Katrina again. Cousin Ken was also in tow to brave what was without a doubt the coldest water I have ever ridden in. While out there we got to say hi to Dennis,Chris and I think Joe and one other brave sole who I didn't know. Now that my boat has hit the water,My season has officially begun.Ride on fellow NJ RIDERS. Ps.. My truck didn't fair as well as my boat today. I made it home but my alternator is fried. I went to Advance auto and just finished putting a new $179.00 one on the truck so it is ready for the next session. As I'm typing this we are being pounded by a heavy wind and rain storm.Guess I finished just in time. |
Cold doesn't even start to describe it, but we had a great day on Dennis's boat. BTW Jim that was me Kevin, Chris, and the brave soul in the shorty was Jim on Dennis's boat. Dennis thanks for the ride and I hope all goes well with that new prop. I took some video and uploaded them here is the links. Joe's first set http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o52uhVsXJKM Dennis doing everything switch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiuFZzGQb0w I left the crash videos out THIS time. I just got my boat in the water this week so the next time I'll be around will be Wakefest. With MY boat the red Xstar giving rides back. If anyone is ever in Long Island near Freeport the last exit before Jones Beach. Give me a call if your looking for a pull. See yall at Wakefest |
Yeah, cold was the word of the day, but let’s not forget the wicked obstacle course supplied by all the recent rain. Regardless, I had the best time. There’s nothing like the first few pulls of the season when you know it’s only going to get better and better! Great to finally meet you Dennis and Jim. Dennis, thanks again for the pulls and thanks to Joe for the good advice. My toe-side jumps got a lot better on my second set. Here’s a picture of Joe and Kevin (against the obligatory factory backdrop). See y’all soon. C. Here’s a picture of Joe and Kevin (against the obligatory factory backdrop). See y’all soon. C.

Jim, glad to hear you were out today with the TIGE' even though it was a bit colder than normal. Nice that Johan got his first pulls of the season too. Kevin, nice vids of Joe and Dennis. Man you guys had some butter out there! |
Glad you guys had a good time today! Wish I could've been there.. freakin work! Everyone will have killer weather this weekend it looks like. Hope everyone has a great memorial day wknd! |
Yes, yes, yes. It's excellent to see people getting together, getting out there and making it happen. In case you haven't already heard, Surf & Offshore's Second Annual Wakeboarding Open is going to be on Saturday August 2, at the same location as last year in Lavallette, NJ. Ink this in on your calendars people. It should be another fun day like last year. And I guess this will mean another post-event trip to The Saw Mill and the sleezeside boardwalk! Giant pizzas, giant beers, road rage go-karting and JB on that atomic space shot ride. Good times. |
Wow, look at all of these people getting out there and riding. I can't believe that it's already the end of May and I haven't been out once. It's kind of sad. This weather has been just awful. This weekend should help everyone out and give us some warm days and sunshine. |
Same here Justin. Cannot wait for it to warm up a little. I am still in my winter jacket up here in Boston. Looks like this weekend will mark the day that summer officially begins. Yay! |
FYI June 5 and 6 Jerry Nunn will be doing his wakeboard clinic at the port indian ski club if anyone is interested here is the link: http://waterski.meetup.com/16/calendar/7825130/?a=cv1c_grp |
Hey John K! How's it going? Are you hitting the river anytime soon? That clinic looks cool, here's a direct link with a video from last years clinic: http://portindian.com/7.html Looks like the cutoff date has come and gone however. That video reminds me of many weekends skiing and footin' at Port Indian. Great spot with some real nice club members. |
Dave I am in SC but will be back up next week. I am planning to ride bordentown next weekend. I didn't realize the cutoff date was past on the clinic sorry for the late info. It is still really cool to just watch those guys tear it up especially with the tower extension!!! Hope to see you out there and maybe meet everyone else. |
Three weeks! |
Three weeks??? Sheesh. I better get busy! I corrected my Perfect Pass woes. It turns-out when Off Shore Marine installed new gauges last Fall, some one ripped one of the cables out of my Perfect Pass central processing unit. After calling Off Shore Marine and expressing my displeasure, I found the errant cable and got it plugged back in. |
Hope it was worth the trip for all you guys on wednesday morning! It was nice to meet everyone. You guys are all welcome out anytime. The prop issue was a real bummer for me! Already sent it out to Eric at oj props to get repaired. I will be going out with the spare on Sunday around 9am if anyone wants a pull. Also probably will take it back out Monday evening and again on Tuesday morning if that works for anyone. Jim B I am thinking to start out around 9 on Tuesday so we beat the possible thunderstorm in the afternoon. Let me know what works for you. Joe let me know if you will be back and able to go. |
Dennis 9 should be no problem. I have a definite 3rd for us as well. Hopefully this warm weather we are about to have will warm that frozen tundra up a little. |
Check it out: http://www.wakeboardingmag.com/article.jsp?ID=1000059619 |

Yea I'll be out wednesday, shoot me an email and we will figure out what time. Dennis, can I get in on that 9 am set tomorrow too? |
Jim, Joe I still plan to go out at 9. Give me a call around 8 just want to check the radar. We may have to adjust when we go out. The wind doesnt look bad and it will be 70 by 9. A couple passing showers is no big deal just dont want to be out in a steady down pour. |
I dont have a phone right now, but hopefully I will work something out tonight. Ill let you know |
Wednesday? HMMMM..... don't temp me. |
Wednesday, I'm in. Just let me know what time to be at the Trenton ramp. Looks like this is turning out to be a ditch day. |
Hi all, How was everyone weekend? I got my boat launched, but was only able to land one session the entire weekend. That South Jersey wind was fierce everyday but late Sat, when it glassed over and made for a real nice sunset session. 19 Days till Wakefest! |
It was a good weekend, the conditions on Sunday were good and the boat traffic was light, just needing this water temp to rise up. Had a chance to dial in the surf wake with the extra 400lbs. Oh yeah I also changed to a smaller fin setup on my Land Lock which gave it a little more speed. |
Joe call me about tomorrow. I emailed you my cell. 609-280-5195. I wanna see what time your going out and how many people you have. If we wind up with a ton of people I could always put my boat in and split up the crowd if need be. Dennis thanks for the pulls today. Mother nature must love wakeboarders because man did we have a great day.It was nice to meet Bill as well today. |
First here is a funny picture of Dennis giving Bill some last minute advice as Bill says a few prayers. Then here are the links to some quick videos of todays fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMmmiLL_aQo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_dLJCrs7RU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzCn6FT5vLA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05m_s_xp698 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8pu_wf4m6M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ylmf4UAlnu0

Looks like you guys had a great day! Working outside today was tough with the humidity, would have rather been on the water. |
wednesday huh?! hmmm, lol. On a side note.. got some wakefest shwag! Ryan at 925never company sent me about a dozen shirts for giveaways!! Sweet lineup he has! If anyone wants to check out their stuff, its at www.925never.com |
Cool videos Jim. But did I hear Bon Jovi playing in the back gorund of a couple of thoe clips?? Ha-ha! I really need to figure-out how to put stuff on youtube one of these days. Chris N: I checked-out the 925never website months ago when you first told me about them. They have some cool stuff, but this sticker is my favorite:
Chris S: Cool Wakefest mention on the Wakeboarding Magazine website. Your Wakefest press release work was well done. Thank you very much. Glad to hear you got out Jeff Z. Sorry to hear you got worked though. |
LOL, those vids are great Jim. Keep them comin. I too heard the Bon Jovi playin! |
Anyone looking to ride tomorrow afternoon? It could be early afternoon or late afternoon til dusk.Text me or email me. 77 and sunny. |
Man Jim is getting out a lot I like it. Good to see everyone out, hopefully this week's warmer weather will continue to bring the temp up in the water. The videos were good. Zuk, that sounds like a day of me trying 3's! I am determined to get them consistent and to learn a backroll! I stayed away from any toeside jumps on my first pull of the year. After last yr.'s episode with dislocating my ribs I don't know how much toeside I'll be doing. |
I got 2, now I just need a 3rd for tomorrow. Whos ready to ride? |
Woo Hooo... I'm just learning to walk again... THERAPY has been good w/ my personal therapist in toe ... Yep ICY HOT is nice, I'm buying stock in that.... All muscles blown out in .5 hrs... I hate winter;} how many weeks.... I mean dayz (whistle)... Jim B. - I am! AK-Like the sticker,(My life story)save me one. 17 days to boot...16 to RIDE w/ Dirty JERSEY! ahhhhh
That was lots of fun yesterday. Thanks again Joe. It was good to see you again Dennis. I'm hoping to have that video of us riding along side that ship up soon. However, until then, here's a sneak peek.
Those pictures of Dennis riding with the ship in the background is great. It looks like I'm heading out around 1 today looking for butter. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpACgFWUl7Q I'll post more tomorrow. |
Finally got my seats back and uncovered the boat. By next weekend we might see you guys again. We are heading to Wildwood this weekend for the Motocross race on the Beach. Later |
Chris, cool pics! Whoever was driving the boat certainly has steady hands, nice line! George, glad to hear you have your seats back. How did they turn out? Zuka, keep your fingers crossed for good weather June 13th and 14th, we'll be ready to give some pulls both days. |
I'll be out tomorrow (friday) after 4pm if anyone wants a pull. |
That was Joe driving the boat Dave. Have fun tomorrow! |
dave, I will either be out there on my boat probably around 5 or 6, or I may swing down and hit you up for a pull. |
Joe, just so you know I'll be launching from Florence today because of low tide. Directions: I-295 to exit 57, take route 130 south approx 5 miles, turn right onto Delaware ave after Illusions GO-GO bar, follow Delaware ave until you see the river and ramp on the right. |
D Dubz, rain or shine baby....I'll be there! |

Thanks Dave!! |
Some of us are heading out Monday morning if anyone wants some pulls hit me up. |
Dave, I finally made the drive back up from SC with the boat. I tried to register it on Friday but they won't let me until I change my license over.(not sure why??) I had a few questions for everyone up here. Does anyone know of a good location for boat storage? Do the guys who live on the pa side trailer to Bordentown or put in somewhere else? I also wanted know where I can get a flag holder for an illusion tower? Any help would be great. Let me know if anyone wants to hook up for a pull. I will hopefully have the registration taken care of this week and be able to start riding. Thanks John |
John K, There is a ramp on the PA side in Bensalem, Neshaminy state park just off State road (free to PA residents I think). Not sure about storage, but there is a marina near there also. Also another marina just off route 13 in Croydon, good for storage I'm not sure if there is a ramp there. On the NJ side, storage depot (www.stgdepot.com) is where Ryan keeps his boat (about $100/month). Address is 800 route 206, Bordentown which is only 2 miles from the B-town ramp. Keep in mind PA residents pay at least $250 for an annual ramp pass in B-town. There is also Curtin's in Burlington NJ. They have a fenced yard and their own ramp, not sure on the cost. If it were me, I'd lean towards storage depot and use the B-town ramp. Illusion tower??? Did you buy a Malibu? I thought you had an X-star? I got my flag from www.wheelerwhip.com Not sure how it would adapt to an Illusion tower though. Hope to see you out there next weekend! |
I traded the x star in for a new malibu wakesetter vtx. |
^Nice, post some pics of the new ride so we know what boat to look for out on the river. Make sure you have a boaters safety certificate to drive your boat on the river here. The state police do random checking. |
I just took it today and bought my regulation triangle flag??? |
We had some great water today on the river. Ken,Johann and I each got 3 sets in before I had to pull the boat out and go to work.We saw Dennis,Joe,Bill and I think Kevin out there as well. I saw Dennis trying a backroll and figured why should he be the only one getting worked over by the water. So I put my helmet on and man did I get worked. But it was fun and a great way to start your day before having to work the 5:45pm til 6:15 am shift. It's only 9:30 and I'm so tired. Speaking of the man,I got a safety stop and vessle check today by the man. He also was nice enough to let us know that from the power plant to Trenton marina is a no wake zone even though the markers are not in the water yet. He let us go with just a little helpfull reminder. Anybody plan on riding Friday afternoon? It's gonna be a hot weekend. Summer is about to burst into high gear. |
Fri afternoon session ftw! |
Jim I hope you guys enjoyed the attempts at the backroll and tantrum. I think It will be a while before I try it again. Today my left knee feels like I blew it apart and my left ankle is not much better. I am walking on it (barely) so I guess it isnt broke. Hopefully I will be able to ride by wakefest. Is 31 too old to start trying inverts? I guess if I try it again maybe some knee braces would not be a bad idea. |
I feel your pain Dennis my neck is stiff and my right kidney is a bit sore. How come we didn't try to learn this wakeboard stuff at like 18. |
Yea, I feel fantastic.... Anyone who is looking to go out tomorrow morning/afternoon let me know. I need a driver, 3rd would be nice too but if not I will find one. |
Dennis I know people in their 40's that do backrolls. |
13 dayz and counting... JIM/DENNIS My 30 yr ol' neck hurts too |
ohhhh ya.... happy b-day to me happy b-day to me...HILLARY IS OUT.... Happy B-Day to me! |
It's kind of late and I have to make this quick, but I was just given some incredibley excellent news! Coming to the 2008 New Jersey Wakefest will be super amazing pro rider Tino Santori! Wow! Tino rides for Tigé boats (pretty cool, huh Jim?!) and the brand new board company Company Wake. Here are some links: http://www.tige.com/2007/teamtige/index.html http://www.companywake.com/ Tino's an amazing rider and we're super lucky to get him. New Jersey Wakefest 2008! Eeeee haaaa! |
SWEET! Hey Zuko is it really your B_Day? |
A yes! I will second the news that Tino Santori will be coming to Jersey for Wakefest! He is excited to come up here to see the Jersey scene and is looking forward to see how we throw down Jersey style! Is it time for a roll call? Who's coming? And who is bringing other people? Is this thing gonna be huge?!?!?! I AM SOOO STOKED! THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE THE BEST YET! |
Here I was planning on leaving my boat at the lake and jumping in with someone else for some pulls but with Tino showing up we might need another Tige on sight |
I am still on the edge. Bonnaroo or Jersey wakefest. A tough call. |
I'm in and at some point during the day will have 6 people coming down plus in the past few weeks I have talked to about 8 people at the ramp and in the water and they may be first time attendees. |
Tino Santori....SWEET! It's really shaping up people, The NJWakefest 2008 is gonna be off the hook. Hey Zuka, I'm sorry to hear your little necky wecky hertzs, But Hillary is OUT! How good does that feel?!?!? Freaking Cankle Robot! Actually I shouldn't make fun, I can't ride as well as you. But I am an injured sole as well. On Sunday I came down from form a TS W2W and cased the top of the wake. As I hit the water my right arm slapped the TS edge of my board right at my wrist joint. I've been icing and wrapping my wrist all week. still pretty swollen and it's jsut now starting to turn yellow from the brusing. |
KG, I was just bustin' them old guys... Did ya see my circle guy yawning " " HA ha ha... 10 to go Ladies and Gents! |
You can tell it's wakeboard season again because the bumps and bruises are adding up quick. |
Hey guys!! I've been on the wakeboardnj.com site and talked to Jim B and Dave W a little about going out. I tried it a couple years ago but didn't do too well so I'm going out this Sunday with Mike at the Academy!! I'm very excited. I'll definitely be at Wakefest. Can't wait to meet everyone and hopefully go out at some point. |
Looks like Ken,Chris and I are going out Friday afternoon until dusk before the Saturday,Sunday mad rush to the water. |
Jim, get back to work!... slacker. Fridays lookin good, cant wait! Kim, have fun at the wake academy and let us know how you like it! Although I'm sure I already know the answer :D |
I've heard it said, and I'm paraphrasing here, that a man should be judged not by his words, but by his actions. Well friends, Ryan up at San Bar Marina is indeed a man of action, and he's building a 50' modular floating slider for a Wakefest winch-pulled rail jam demo. I'm not exactly sure what's going on in this picture, other than Ryan telling me that he had a welder scheduled to come today to do some welding work on the slider. Friends...this is going to be very, very cool.
Alright! It's Kimbelly checkin' in! It's good to see you here Kim. Be sure to introduce yourself at Wakefest! Looking forward to this weekend's mad rush to the water, Alex. |
Chris, I am working so go to bed. Ryan, you are the man. (Message edited by jim_b on June 04, 2008) |
Kim, good to see you checking in here. Hope you have a blast this sunday riding. Are you going with JB at The Wake Academy, or Mike at Lines End Wakeboard? Either way, take advantage of the hot weather. See you at Wakefest! |
I'm going to be at wakefest. Now get this two boats and something like 16 riders. We came down last year with a meetup group on the internet. http://wakeboarding.meetup.com/19/calendar/7517429/ This year we have a few more then last year. I'm trying to get a third boat down to to spread everyone out. One guy with a boat in NJ bailed due to throwing his back out a few weeks ago. |
A lot going on here, this is very cool. JZ and the countdown, Kimbelly checking in, nice to see you here. Alex has had great news about Tino Santori and now a HUGE slider from SanBar Marine. Dave W reminding everyone to take advantage of the great weather (it's supposed to be in the 80's-90's this weekend). Kevin M has a big crew coming down to wakefest. This is getting really exciting boys N girls. KG |
Welcome Kim! Good luck with Jeff. Lessons help so much, I think you'll be really happy with the results and how quickly you progress. See you at Wakefest. |
hey alex are there any plans for that box you are building after wakefest? I wouldnt mind seeing it as a new addition to the delaware river |
I 2nd Joe's idea! Keep that thing down there! |
Good luck with keeping a slider down there. If the police don't get it then the that blonde crack head and her old man will find it and sell it at that scrap yard for more crack cash. |
HAHA, Yea they will use it to re-panel that brown van and turn it into a woody! |
Joe F: While Ryan San Bar is building the slider to bring to Wakefest, it's actually something he's wanted to do for a long time. Ryan and his family own two marinas right on Lake Hopatcong, they're a Mailbu dealer and a Grinch Winch dealer. So after Wakefest is over, I'm sure Ryan and his crew have a lot of plans for the new slider on Lake Hopatcong. But you can talk to him. He's a good guy. Maybe he'll invite you up to session it. And Ryan's a real good rider too. I think he's won some collegiate events down in Florida, and I think he took top honors at last summer's SOS event. Ok...how about I add a twist to JB's Wakefest head count? In addition to being in or out, if you're in, what time are you planning to get there? |
Kevin and I are hoping to get there way before it starts to get some unspoiled glass. How early is that? Anyone have a flashlight? |
AK what time are you planning on getting there? Sara and I will arrive Friday 9am ish... |
The area doesen't "officially" open until 6:00am, but I'll probably be getting there around 5:30am. The girl who sells ramp passes doesn't show-up 'til around 9:00am, so if you don't have a valid one year ramp pass and you plan on getting there real early, I strongly suggest you stop at the cop shop up on Farnsworth and get your ramp pass there. I've towed there many times for some 6:00am butter. It's great. |
Not to divert off the wakefest course...but this is too funny. http://youtube.com/watch?v=eREJ0RqC2ZA |
Alex I plan on being there to help you setup at 6-ish. Then I'm gonna drop in for a quick set. Then I'm gonna pull out and enjoy the land party. After the Blackout movie I plan on checking into my hotel room at the Ramada for a few post wakefest drinks. Then Sunday morning after check out at the Ramada I'm gonna put my boat back in for some am glass. |
I'll be there early saturday to help set-up or do whatever's needed. Zuka, I'll be at the river friday morning to pull you and anyone else that wants a pull. I'll shoot for around 10:00 am. Anyone want to hit Curtin's Wharf in Burlington for some dinner/drinks friday night? They have a great deck right on the river, usually with a band later in the night. |
David, sounds fantastic! How far is Burlington from Bordentown... 10 miles? (Message edited by Zuka666 on June 05, 2008) |
Dave, a pull on Friday sounds good to me.If I don't have to go to work for some reason. Zuko, see you soon brother. |
Jim, your in (goes without sayin') Zuka, yep about 10 miles south of B-town. |
I should be there around morning time, lol. Who knows... probably 9. |
Thanks for sayin hi everyone. Ok so I guess I mixed it up a bit. In response to Dave's question apparently I'm going out with Mike from Lines End, not Jeff at Wake Academy. Is there a difference? Ok well obviously there is a difference but is there a difference I should care about? |
Kim, any formal coaching is always a good thing. Who knows, you may pick-up some great pointers from both of those guys! I'm obviously a little bias toward Jeff since I know him alot better than Mike. Jeff just has so much energy and passion for the sport, it's definitely contagious! Have fun, get alot out of the experience and post some comments afterward. |
Thanks Dave. Sorry Jeff. Hopefully I'll get to meet you at Wakefest and you can give me pointers. |
Were heading out Saturday morning for our first pulls of the year. At least the water is warm now. |
Jim.... Sounds like your coming down w/ something |
Some big news and lots of things happening on this thread; damn I work too much. I'd like to add another twist or second poll to piggyback off of JB and Alex and my questions is: How stressed is Alex getting as we move closer and closer to the big date?? |
8 to go! |
I am going to be in Philly mid July for work. I'll be there for awhile so I'm looking to hook up with some of you. I have an 06 Wakesetter and didn't really plan on bringing it, but if I can get some info on where to keep it I may reconsider. So hit me up via e-mail or PM me and let me know what the scene is. Thanks! |
I am in and will bring a few people to wakefest. Does anyone have room for another this weekend? I am having a registration issue and will not have my boat ready to go until next week. Let me know driver, gas, beer, extra hand whatever else you need. Give me a shout (267)987-9565 or keenan.john.r@gmail.com Thanks John P.S. how strict are they with registration? I if I have the title on me (new boat) will that be an issue? In SC I would be fine but not sure about up here? |
Hey Riding dirty, where about in Philly are you gonna be? |
Hi guys, I know someone coming to Wakefest via public transportation - should he just bring her board and hope for a pull? It's a pain the the ass to bring a board on the train to begin with and I'd hate for him to come all that way and then need to carry it around with him. |
Gonna be a ROASTER tomorrow....anyone going out? I was just talking to Charles and he and I are looking to possibly get some pullsssssss. Lemme know whatsup. shmeyer917@gmail.com |
Jim, I'll basically be working at the Airport so they will probably put me up near by. I'm looking for some people to ride with. And if I bring my boat I'll need some where to store it. Thanks... |
Ridin Dirty..........welcome! Try here for boat storage http://www.stgdepot.com/ It's only about 2 miles from the boat ramp at Bordentown. John K, don't slack on your registration. That will get you stopped every time here. (as well as no skier flag too) Boaters safety card is also a must-have. I have a full boat tomorrow, or else I'd offer-up some pulls for you. Hopefully someone else will have room. |
ok, i'm beat. kick ass day on the water today. glassy and empty! I need a beer and 10 hours of sleep now |
I keep my boat at Ross's in Trenton, about 2 miles north of the Bordentown ramp. They charge me 80 a month to keep it there on the trialer, and the Trenton Ramp is less than 1/2 mile away, its free which is awesome, but theres some sketchy dudes that hang out there, which is less awesome. Check that out too if you wnat |
Ditto what Chris said.Epic conditions today. Complete glass and no one else on the water. The water felt like silk under my board. We had a mini jump competition today and I think Chris paid off the judge.LOL. Awesome day I'll get some pics up tomorrow. |

Hey! There's more Wakefest news! There's going to be a WakeKite demo! What's a WakeKite? Here, check it out on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB5H8wxkvWg&feature=related Am I stressing? Nah! Well, maybe a little. But you know, I got a couple of these things under my belt already. The stress this year has been no where near as bad as it was the first two. Plus, I'm supported by a solid crew, all with the same Wakefest history. There's just no substitute for experience. Chris S: I know Jeff from Hyperlite is going to be bringing a ton of new boards for people to demo. While I can't guarantee it, perhaps your friend can use a demo board. Welcome Ridin Dirty. |

Hello Everyone! Doreen Checking in! Been awhile since I posted. For all of you new to the thread who I haven't met, and there are alot of you, if you're coming to wakefest, make sure you come by the main tent and say hello! I'll be the one selling the raffles and Wakefest T-shirts that you'll want to buy! Alot of cool things Alex is announcing as it gets closer! |
Hi Doreen hope all is well see you in 7... |

Will be there in the a.m. as well... Alex, wakekite demo...That's awesome. Can't wait till next weekend! P.S. I won't be able to bring any of my gear for the weekend because I am bringing a whole bunch of other stuff and cannot carry everything. Can I possibly borrow someone's for a set or two? Or maybe I'll get lucky this year and win one in a raffle??? |

Jim, I love watching the video's you post. You'll have to send me an email telling me how.I am so behind the times on youtube postings! That's really cool the press NJ Wakefest has received. First we're all in the Wakeboarding Magazine, now press releases on the home page of wakeworld. Gotta love it! Wakefest is next week, do you beleive it??!! I think we should have a special prize for the person that comes to wakefest from the farthest state. Pro riders excluded! Can't wait to see everyone....I'll be at the main tent, stop by and say hello! |

This guy was in NJ last year and made a guest appearance just outside of Philly along with Gerry Nunn. Mr. Lyman was kind enough to help my daughter nail a 1 wake t/s 180 and helped me finally make a w2w t/s jump consistently. He had great energy and did ride one set, but was only 2 weeks off of his latest surgery so 540's and ole 720's was all the poor guy could pull off. I would also mention it seemed every trick was grabbed and poked.

I forgot Mr. Nunn is able to throw down too...

Jim, great videos! Gotta love the edge-to-faceplant move! Ewing, looks like you guys had a fun day with Nunn and Lyman. Johan, good to have you back man. See you next saturday. Kelly Lee, I have some extra gear you can borrow, although I'm pretty sure you'll have a chance to demo some equipment there. |
Ewing, that is a great shot on Gerry Nunn. And the water looks great. I haven't made up my mind yet but I may drop in today around 4pm til dark but we'll see. |
