Labor day weekend is coming up quick. My destinations are as follows.

Wed-Aug-29- Fri Aug 31 @ Lake Pateros on the Columbia River. Thanks to Cliff for getting this organized again. I am trying to get it together so I can bring some sort of a rail setup over this year. I hope everyone is getting their tricks dialed in. Last year we had a best crash trying a new trick competition. This year, I think it should be for best new trick (something you haven't landed before) Everyone who is interested could make it more fun by throwing in 5-10 buck and winner could take it. Or other suggestions would be great as well.

Sat. Aug 1- Monday Aug 3- @ Crescent Bar resort on the Columbia river. I would love to get out for an early morning set if anyone has a spot on a boat. If not I am also down to meet some people and have a few beers.

Let me know if you will be at either place or if you have different plans in Washington, I would love to hear them as well.

Ehh...

I can take Pateros or leave it. I just get tired of crappy water conditions and all the crowds.

Gary,

I just finagled Ghostrider a couple rooms. I'm told we have the entire fire station side, and multiple rooms on the north end.

I've got the prizes for the King of Crash wrapped up now, and I'm working on the Saturday night BBQ potluck.

Mike is going to drag a 30' slider over and assemble it in front of the motel, and I'm going to try to fit John Fowlers kicker in the back of my truck to bring over.

Friday morning I have four tee times setup at the golf course starting at 9:30.

Thomas,

Anybody is welcome to this event. I'm out of rooms at the hotel for this year, but there's camping down the street or rooms about a 1/2 mile up the road at the golf course if you're interested.

Gary - Do you have room in the boat all day on Friday? Will you take a surfer? Not sure if I am bring Dylan or not.
I will be down (or is it up???) river Wednesday and Thursday. Then back to the west side for some labor day glass on Lk. Washington.

not fully. Just Friday. I will be with other friends at another location the first part of the week, so I thought I would come for one day if I can get on a boat that will allow wakesurfing. But I still have to be back in Seattle area by noon on Saturday for family stuff.

I leave for Roosevelt today around 5:30 for the next 9 days.

Unfortunately Labor Day weekend I'm working and am forced into a BBQ with parents and the gf's parents....woohoo!

I'm going to have to try and make it next year, looks and sounds like a blast!

Darren and I will be surfing with the kids. Maybe Cliff will too.

Cliff - What about a long drive contest? I can bring some old clubs so everyone has the same chance. I have ALOT of old balls laying around. Could do it Friday night after golfing.

Mike, I will be over at crescent bar all weekend. I am hoping I can pick my new(old) boat up this week and get it ready by then. If you don't mind riding behind an 83 stars and stripes with 1500#'s and a extended pylon. We will be partying mostly but might be able to make it out for a morning ride once or twice.

If you don't mind camping, there's room for you.

Jacober,

I got the ok on the kicker, I'm picking it up in the am.

By mike hillard (otiswunguy) on Friday, August 17, 2007 - 5:00 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Brett- I will keep an eye out for you. My old boat was a prostar 190 with about the same weight as yours so I would happily take you up on it. Where are you staying?

What time are people getting to Pateros on wed? I am trying to figure out if I need to take the day off or if everyone is arriving in the evening.

As for the slider, I got a nice start on it today at work. I still need rope and some sort of anchor system. I think it could be a little tricky to keep them in place with the current on the river. Any suggestions?

By Cliff Griffin (seattle) on Friday, August 17, 2007 - 5:16 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Ya I know what you can use... Noti, for implying I'd ever surf.

I just as soon have my testicles removed with a rusty butter knife. The experience would probably be more pleasurable for me.

A little early to be playing weatherman, but the two week forecast looks to be an average of 75 degree days and 55 degree nights. Peeeeerfect.

By Brett Yates (polarbill) on Saturday, August 18, 2007 - 9:47 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
Mike, not exactly sure. My friends rented a 3 bedroom condo. I have never actually been to crescent bar. I usually go to my buddies cabin in Sunland. Hopefully I can get that boat by the labor day or I might kick myself in the face. I really do not want to be in Crescent Bar with no boat.

I'm at Pateros. I'm not sure if there is going to be an abundance or shortage of boats but I only have one other confirmed person with me at this point so I will either need another rider or would appreciate jumping on another boat.

For those who have never been. There are 2 free launches within 200 yds of the hotel. Everyone usually pulls their boat at night due to the unpredictable currents and winds. The gas station is just down the street from the hotel so it's convenient to fill up in the morning before launching or in the evening when you pull your boat. There is ample truck/trailer parking at either end of the hotel. The Ace Hardware is also the local tackle shop and liquor store (mmmmm...Jaeger). There are 3 restaurants within 5 minutes walking and Brewster is only about 10 minutes away.

Anything I missed???

This is killing me, I can't wait. 7 boats and how many riders this year? In my opinion, last year it would have been nice to have a few more boats out there. I am not complaining I just remember that there were plenty of riders to go around and a few even getting left on the docks.

For those who want to camp or RV.

http://www.paterossuperstop.com/rv.html

http://www.pateros.com/services.html

This should help anyone who needs to find lodging or camping near the event. Keep in mind all of these alternates are within walking distance of the hotel so it's not like you would be very far away.

David,

Consider this an invite.

Kenny,

I don't have anything official for the wives or the kids. If any of the gals want to roll over to Chelan for the afternoon, there will be plenty of us left to watch the kids. As for the kids, they basically run themselves to exhaustion by the end of day.

By Kenny (ghostrider_2) on Monday, August 20, 2007 - 8:43 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
We have an inflateble bounce house, its only 8x10 but some younger kids might enjoy?

Do any of the other wifes board? are/will they planning a women only runs/tubing?

Troy/Mike - Are you guys bring your women or another people with you this year?

By notidad (noti_dad) on Monday, August 20, 2007 - 8:51 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Eagle - Wish you could join us and show what the MCs can do. On second thought, maybe not, wouldn't want the cc looking bad next to that x1. Better stay away. LOL!

Jakober - You know we're there the whole time. Wed-Sun is he only way we roll!

I know my wife and another will be out riding. Our little one will probably be on the boat skiing, surfing and maybe riding. The tube will be lost and left at home (tee hee, sorry you'll have to ski). For any girls wanting to ride Mrs. Noti might be taking the boat out for a girls ride on Sat or Sun.

By Kenny (ghostrider_2) on Monday, August 20, 2007 - 9:13 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Noti,

My wife would enjoy hanging out with other women on the boat since normally she's only out on the boat when its a family day. Not many if any at all board on Whidbey Island.

I will be heading to Roosevelt for the weekend for more glass and houseboats. The pictures you posted look nice, but I think I will find some decent water at Roosevelt

hey guys where are all of these spots in relation to the George Gorge. We will be up at Dave Matthews for that weekend, but only going to the show one day and people talked about boating on the Columbia while we are there???
Let me know if it is anywhere close or way off?
Is it worth bringing a boat to the concert and then hitting the river?

We'll be atleast an hour and a half drive by car north of you (Pateros is north of Wenatchee and Entiat by 30-45 mins, 20 min east of Chelan). But Creasent Bar is really close and there will be a ton of action going on there that w/e. Look further up the post, Mike and Adam are going to be done that way over the w/e.

You're 1.5 hours to Pateros from the Gorge. You're probably about 30 minutes to Crescent Bar or the old Vantage Highway launch. I hear Crescent Bar has become quite the party spot nowadays.

Diggs,

Your pretty far south of us at the gorge. You can launch your boat and run up river from Vantage if you want to listen to the concert from the water. I would rather go to the concert itself considering there will probably be a billion swooning chics at a Dave Mathews concert.

yeah i really have no interest in bringing our boat into that lot either, but the idea has been considered....
how well do you hear the music from the river?

By Cliff Griffin (seattle) on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 10:39 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
You can hear it real well. The atmoshere down on the river during a concert ie visual partying is awesome. There's a great spot on the shore where everyone can pull up and tailgate.

Bringing Moomba XLV so make that 8 boats.

We have a pretty full crew but Im sure we can pick up a rider or two on some of our runs.

Seems like we have a lot of prizes this year that Cliff and Hahn arranged. Why not have both a King of Crash and a best new (landed) trick contest? That way everyone out there has a shot at something.

For anyone who might be interested I will have a 2007 Ronix One 142 blem up for sale. Only ridden a couple of times. I am told I am not allowed to ride it anymore, so it will be for sale, not sure on the price yet.

Also, everyone remember to bring your slider boards, the kicker will be completed on Saturday so get ready.

Looks like I will be last minute cancelling due to injury. I was thinking of coming over just to drink beer but seeing 8 boats tear up the butter will just make me too sad (not too mention the doctor recommends staying off alcohol and caffein). I hope to be back on the water in a couple weeks. Everyone have a great time and there will be a hotel room opening up so hopefully someone else will be able to fill the void......Adam

It doesn't look like the pvc is going to extend into the water on the kicker. I hope I am wrong but I think there are plenty of tools and hands available if it needs to change.

By Jae G Master (jaegermaster) on Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 8:08 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Mike, the slider looks good. As for the kicker, there is less foam at the start of the ramp than there was before. If anything, we might have too much slope to it. We are bringing it unassembled so we can float it at the ramp and tune it as necessary.

Like Cliff said, bring your helmets kiddies.

By dave buck (noti_dad) on Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 9:34 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
I found and will bring Jello shot cups. Think we can make them there? What do we need to fill them besides jello?

We have another newcomer joining us for Wakefest. She will be in our room for the weekend.

Mike - The slider looks good.
Brad - Nice job on the kicker. Saw it at Cliffs tonight and I agree that the PVC will be in the water and may be a bit more of a slope than you want.

Regardless it will be fun to watch all the crashes off that kicker.

By mike hillard (otiswunguy) on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 4:39 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
As long as the kicker pitch is between 15 and 20 degrees, we are good to go. I'll be happy to be the crash test dummy for both of them!!!

Hey need a little advice, which would be recommend to getting there from whidbey island, goind down through seattle or going north. Remember we are towing a boat and have little ones with us.

Cliff,
Looks as though we will be down weds night or first thing thurs morning!

By Jae G Master (jaegermaster) on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 7:13 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Kenny, You can either go over Hwy 2. A little slow with all the small towns you go through, but a straighter shot. Or you can go I-90 and go over Blewett Pass to Hwy 2, then east to Wenatchee and up the river. Neither 90 or Blewett are that bad of passes. Once you hit Wenatchee I would suggest crossing over to the East side of the river and then heading up. It is a bit longer in mileage, but quicker in time.

Where does the Whidbey ferry drop you? In Mukilteo? If that is the case I would go Hwy. 2.

You can call me tomorrow if you have questions.

Brad 206-930-0908

By Kenny (ghostrider_2) on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 7:43 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
yep it would be the Mukilteo ferry.
what do you think for scenery north or south?
So south is a little faster?

By Eagle Jackson (eaglejackson) on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 8:36 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Some friends who live in Edmonds (near Mukilteo) and go to their condo in Chelan nearly every weekend (Chelan is on the way to Pateros) get to Chelan from Edmonds by driving south on I-405 to SR-522 in Woodinville, east to US-2 in Monroe, US-2 to Wenatchee and then 97-A to Chelan. Versus going north to US-2 in Everett and east from there.

By Jae G Master (jaegermaster) on Monday, August 27, 2007 - 8:58 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Mukilteo to Pateros via I-5 North to Hwy 2, then East = 183.3 mi (3 hrs. 15 min.)

Don't go through Chelan. I've gone both ways it is not as long on the map but slower, thus takes longer. Besides the drive up from Wenatchee along the river is a really nice view of Enitat. It will definitely get you ready to ride!!

Golf balls are coming and so is booze for the jello shots.

we (me) are starting to pack tonight, but a few questions. Do they have bbq grills if so how many? How big are the refer's or should we just plan on a big cooler? small town, do they have a good grocery store for meats (are they expensive)?

Yes the wife said "BRING ON THE JELLO SHOTS!!"

BBQ's are standard state park type cemented into the ground. There are probably 6. The refers are the small college type. I usually keep meat and such in the refer and load the cooler up with beer. The town of Pateros does not have a grocery store. Brewster is only 10 minutes further and does have a full grocery.

I wouldn't go Hwy 20. The pass is pretty steep and really windy. Plus it costs me a water pump every time I go through Darrington.

Darren- The rail will be in my truck at crescent bar sat a.m.- mon a.m. If you want to help me launch it and bring it back then we can put it in the water and tow it down to the lagoon for a few sessions. It's a bit of work. It's going on the northeast end of Sammamish when we all get back if you would rather wait until then.

Dave- I am packing now as well. You would be surprised how well that slider fits in my 6'8" truck bed.

Don't blink while you are driving....you might just miss the turn. There isn't really an exit. There are two turns both will lead you to the hotel. If you take the first right turn (assuming you are heading north) will take you by the gas station (the scenic route...2 minutes longer because you get to see the RV hookups).

Enjoy!

Had a blast this year.

Weather was awesome, water was perfect, managed a legendary hangover one of the days, met and hung out with Shaun Kilgus, got to meet and hang out with ton of new folks from all over the northwest, landed two out of five attempts at the kicker, rode my but off, had a great potluck bbq with everyone, got a round of golf in, and finally got my wife out on the water for a cruise.

This was by far my favorite NWWF, and we will definitely be doing it Labor Day weekend next year.

I didn't get too many pics, but my wife caught my impression of Super Dave on the kicker.

My first attempt.

Uneditedand with sound King of Crash. The slap you hear is the board hitting the front of the barrel. Troy hit it soo hard it actually knocked the barrels loose and cracked his molded in fin. Definitely deserving of the title King Of Crash and the Grand Prize.

Hey Kenny,

Here is a great program to resize pictures real fast. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

You'll see it in there. You can choose all your pictures, right click, and resize them all to a certain size. Works very nice for those large amount of pics.

Mike - I don't think anything can come close to topping the Thursday night BS session. Cliff was definitely out of control and Scotty eggin' him only helped make it better. Best new trick was thrown out. Guess my Switch TS W2W, HS Shifty, TS BS surface 180 (switch and regular)and the Stalefish grab were the only never before thrown tricks and didn't count as being "good" enough tricks (yes I have them on film/have proof).

Steve - You really missed out on the best NWWF yet.

The Dr. Pepper bike goes to Troy for the board slide to barrel with a cracked board. The rest of the prizes were given away in a random drawing. Thanks Steve, for the shwag. Next year there will be a raffle with all proceeds going to charity. With a whole year to work on the raffle, it should be good. I will volunteer to organize and contact the charity as well as hit up the local shops for donations.

Great pictures Kenny!

That was an awesome trip, next year I think we should do two.

Thanks to everyone who gave me a pull and thanks to Cliff and Brad for making this happen.

Big Thanks to Brad for helping out as much as he did! Without him, the kicker project wouldn't have happened. His skills as a raffle drawer were Sofa King perfect.

That's a compliment coming from someone that was Sofa King good at announcing the winners. LOL

Brad - You should be be Sofa King proud.
(You're face got mixed up )

Steve - Gary got the bindings because he Sofa King needed them (lucky he got drawn for them). Kenny got The Truth video (we watched it and it was Sofa King good). Kids got the stickers because they Sofa King love putting them on helmets, doors and the side of Cliff's boat. Not sure who got The Chick Flick, Butter Effect or Bentfelix vids but I know they were Sofa King excited to win them. Troy got the bike because his crash was Sofa King bad. Someone's 3yo got the R2D2 Cooler because his Safety Dance skillz were Sofa King good.

Thanks for a great time and event! Cliff, sign us up for next year. If any of you from the west side are over here before the lakes freeze let me know and we'll get on the water.

We were in Pateros this last weekend with you all- White with Black X-2- it was great watching all of the riders. Monday, the locals were coming up to our boat yelling- "flip-flip-flip".
We aren't at that level, so we had to disappoint them. Looked like a great event. We have a place in Chelan, but can't wakeboard there.
