All winter long I've been rehabbing my MCL and dreaming about the new tricks I'm going to land. I've told my crew (wife, brother-in-law and his fiancee) that this year is the 'Summer of the Spin'. So then this weekend I finally got around to working on video from last summer and I realized how important the stress relief of wakeboarding is to me. I suck...I don't land many tricks, and yet I absolutely love wakeboarding. I dream/daydream about it all the time. For pete's sake, I'm 32 and I bought a trampoline to learn new tricks...the neighbors all think I'm crazy. Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone (including myself) to enjoy our sport...as long as you are having fun, new tricks will come.

Wakepics is down right now, or at least it won't accept any uploads from me. I'll post the link once its up for you to check the vid out and let me know what you think. The riding is nothing to brag about, but I figured out some cool editing features on Premiere Elements. :-)

The best rehab for for leg / foot injuries is a Sky Ski or Air Chair. Why sit in the boat when you can sit on the water. No boat should be without one. If you ever find yourself dealing with to much wind, tubers or lake Lice(jet skiers) just wip out the Ski. Dont get beat up on the rough stuff.

Thane, figured I'd wait until Wakepics was up to post again. My MCL 'popped' when I was trying a tantrum and cased the wake. I actually came home, got right on wakeworld and asked about the terrible noise I heard when I landed...and I'm pretty sure you responded and gave me the same analysis that my knee doc gave me two days later. Have you ever thought of going into medicine :-)

Anyway, here's the vid...enjoy the wrecks...

We started last year, and the W2W is the next step for me...

Mike,

We typically ride 65-70 at 22 mph. As I'm sure many people have told you, the speed helps, but is by far not the most important factor in jumping the wake. It's mostly in the technique, if you can keep the line tension using a progressive edge, then stand tall at the wake, the W2W will come easily at most normal (18-24)wakeboard speeds.

When it comes down to it, I feel like I need the boat to go faster to help me, especially on TS jumps. Just because I know the 'theory' doesn't mean it comes easily behind the boat :-)

My advice, get an instructional DVD, or better yet, find some riders who are better than you to help you progress this summer. Best of luck :-)
