Looking @ doing a trip to Oroville next spring. Wanted to know if anyone could help with where to camp. With or without RV (close to water) or boat-in. Where to wakeboard? Thanks in advance!

The floating campsites are a blast. Just beware, Oroville is notorious for debris in the water. I stayed on floating sites 9 and 10 last year and had a great time. Hard to get a reservation during the middle of summer though.

The camping there isn't great. The sites are nice, but it's much like the scene at Melones where you're not camping anwhere near the water.
I would also recommend the floating campsites, or a houseboat. If you book now for the spring, the houseboats are quite affordable.
I've been hitting Orville for the last 4-5 years. We haven't ever seen debris. I would imagine that like any other lake, it is bad in the spring while levels are rising.

If the lake is full the boat in campsites are great, especially the group site on the North fork. If your out there look for PT 109 and come over for a beer or a pop

The reason I mentioned the debris is that I have always seen it. When I was there in June, they were using a helicopter to blow the logs/brush to the shore so a crew could round it up and truck it off. It was ridiculous how much crap they were trucking out of there!

I've seen some really big lumber floating around there too. It's a great lake though.

The floating campsites are great. I've been there when there was a ton of debris, and when there was none, so i don't think it's there year round. You can usually find some decent water if you look hard enough.

Hmmm. most of my trips were during the fall. Prob all cleaned up by then.

All the floating campsites are booked for when we are going. Are any of the regular campsites on the water so you can leave your boat in? Thanks

J-Rod, Yeah it was really cool. He and Aaron Aubry were leaving Sac @ the same time (after filming for DS2) going to Austrilia for Comps. Sat in LAX talking for quite awhile. Really nice guys.

Tate none of the regular campsite are on the water. I seen people leave their boat in the water but there is no way you cant keep an eye on it unless you pull it out nightly

You could always make your own campsite.
Trevor is cool. We got to hang with him for a while after the boat show last year.

Tate: Many times at Don Pedro, we have loaded the gear into the boat, and hit the lake to look for a place to set up shop. If Renee is cool with no "facilities," this can be really cool. But you do have to take more gear. I would call Orville to make sure they are cool with this.

We have a port-a-potty for just such occasions or when the "blue hut's" are infested with spiders, so we got that covered. I bathe in the lake after my first run of the morning anyway... "Ok, now everyone turn the other direction so I can take of my suit" (I don't think they do)  .

The only shore line camping is permitted in the boat-in campsites. The floating campsites are cool but 90 bucks a night ouch...

Use a party barge as a campsite (poor-man's houseboat). Get one with a head and there is no limit where you can go on the lake.

(sacdeep) is right last year they were really on people about camping on the shorline. I.E. no offical sight.
I haven't spent any time up the N. fork I heard it gets windy? We always go down the S.Fork and get nice water.
We have houseboat moored there(Bidwell)
If your ever going up drop me an e-mail we are there almost every weekend starting in Mar or April.

Hey sacdeep I have seen PT109 I'll have to talk to you next time were there or look for us X4 ugly old peice of Shiat,but it holds lots of beer and floats?

The south and middle forks typically are better during the summer as winds come from the north and really chop up the north fork. We're up there almost every other weekend.
