Here's one of my first attempts at some editing using Premier 6.0 (the second of 3 vids I'm made to date). Any tips appreciated.

Good job there! Is that you riding?

That was great. Throwing in the static shots breaks the video up quite well.

There are 2 things you may want to consider, but by no means am I criticizing.
1. The shot at the end with the rider in the water cutting to rider removing vest- I would think about
a. moving the rider in the water about 30 sec. earlier, (because you had one at about 45sec. put one at 1min15sec. for continuity)
or a softer fade at the end with rider in water cross fading to rider removing jacket to show relation and continuity.
b. Keep your clips with the beat. maybe cut landing and approach on some of the longer clips, or slow down the shorter clips.
On most of the pro vids you see, the song and video are seamlessly tied to one another. At the very least, they anchor the video and song together every fourth measure(parks' part on F4A is a good example)

Is that the VLX wake? Man you were flying.

I think its pretty sweet for your first video

The wake is a 1998 Air Nautique (haven't bought the VLX yet Woody!) - we use a 700lb sack on each side of the engine box, a 350lb sack in the locker, 125lb of concrete on the floor behind the engine box, and some lead blocks along side the factory ballast tanks in the rear storage. Maybe 2500lbs or so total (?) if I had to guess, plus a driver and one observer in the boat.

Thanks for the comments Mike and Brett. Mike - I'll try to use some of your editing advice in my next attempt.

Oh, and that wasn't me riding, it was my buddy Greg... (damn I wish I should have just said it was me - hahahah)

good job david, looks like you figured out how to compress the video. how did you eventually compress it?

I tried a couple of different ways - the Windows Media Encoder (older version) works well, as does the "Cleaner 5 EZ" software that came with Premier. Seems like the WM Encoder works a little better.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Thanks J-rod. He's been riding for 6-7 years so he definitely has the progressive edge down...lol.

No problem Jake, send it over. I'd like to see that footage to compare it to my riding now - I think I may have actually improved since then considering I rode through the winter (if you can call it "winter" - hahah).

Thanks Angi and Jonathan.

Angi - Holly is officially starting her season this week so hopefully in the coming weeks she'll hone her skills and be ready to appear on video. Will the action be happening at the lake off I-4? Just give us some heads up notice and we'll try to come out sometime. I was actually trying to get together and ride with Novak one Saturday afternoon a few weeks back but I had to cancel at the last minute due to some wedding stuff going on. I'm sure I'll see you soon.

Brett - I don't know anything about you (physical size or riding style) so I can't comment on whether you have the right board.

Jake - thanks alot. I'll look out for it.
