Here it is:

http://web.mac.com/pjtwelker/iWeb/Site/Raequel.html

We were all so stoked for Raequel. Earlier in the day, Shawna landed a toeside Backside 180 on her first try. These girls are truly as nice as can be, they work hard, and they deserve all the success that is coming their way. Congratulations!

Very clean! It looks like a 9 is not too far for her also.

Keep up the good work Raequel

Huge props to the Hoffman sisters for pushing the sport!

By david (dnp33) on Monday, August 06, 2007 - 10:38 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
that was awesome! TS BS 1 thats crazy too! she went really off axis.

i never understand how ppl on this site see a trick landed once, and automatically say that the next is coming soon. Rusty lands his third 1080 out of how many tries, and ppl start saying 12? shes only the second woman to land a 7, and people are already saying 9. wait for at least 5 or 6!

By Joe Umali (dakid) on Monday, August 06, 2007 - 10:48 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
if you knew raequel like a lot of us here know her, you wouldn't put the 9 past her. the hoffmans are all about progression. besides amber wing, what other girl is landing 7s? how many other 15yr old girls are landing toe-back 180s? like i said, progression.

sure, she needs to land the 7 a few more times, but what we're saying is that don't be surprised if she's landing 9s soon.

Go for the 9!

They're giving a whole new meaning to progression, incredible!

That's so nice to see. The kind of stuff that may end the domination of Dallas!

By Randy Scagliotti (wakedad33) on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 - 6:26 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
dnp33, let me add to what Joe said, Iv'e had the plessure to be in the boat for many training sessions with the girls, and having been around lots of pro riders over the years and I can assure you no one works harder to push their riding then Reaquel & Shawna. I have seen both get "worked" over and over learning a new trick, eight, ten hard hits in a row that would put most guys back in the boat, they just put their board back on and go again. So hence my comment about the 900, there's no doubt in my mind she will land one.

By Peter T (deltawake) on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 - 7:07 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
David-

Don't be surprised if Raequel is very consistent on this trick very soon. She rode away on the board several times before she landed this one. She has the rotation down. Randy is absolutely right. It's not overly premature to start talking about a 9. It was Raequel herself who said that now she was going to start working on a 9 almost immediately after she got in the boat. Don't put it past her.

By andrea (parkgirl) on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 - 7:22 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
THAT is SO sick!!!! Congrats Raequel, big time!

And Shawna TS BS 180 first try...incredible! That is one of my favorite looking tricks, good job!

Thank you all sooo much! And thank you Payton's, Twelkers and Duncans for all of the pulls and hospitality over the weekend. that was such a blast. Also thanks to Derek Conway for helping me get way close again at the Delta Wakeboard Camp on thursday. (By the way, Shelby Kantar was there too that day, and landed two huge toeside backside 180s into the flats, her first time trying them.)-She's always been an inspiration for us, as have the Payton and Twelker kids, and Alex Scagliotti. And thanks Matt Norton for coming out on the boat and giving me the last tips I needed right before I landed it. Norcal and the whole entire wakeboarding community is full of so many bighearted people and I'm glad to be a part of it!

I can only say that is huge for Raequel and women’s wakeboarding. I am positive that it is the first in many more to come. I think the biggest thing you’re going to see from the Hoffman's is it landed in a contest run. How quickly they perfect new tricks is amazing and bringing the consistency to the tour pass is going to make a huge statement for them and the west coast.

What amazed me about the video, beyond the smoothness of it, was her reaction. She took it in stride...yeah, I landed a 720...what's next? :-) When I land a first new trick I let out a scream, pump my first and smile like a fool and generally make an @$$ of myself. I guess the difference was she 'knew' she was going to land it...I'm always surprised that I land :-)

That is amazing, she has a style of her own. She doesn't ride like most girls. Definately stepping it up for female wakeboarding. First girl to land a 9? I think so.

Hey Stacy and Loren, this video is of Raequel's 2nd 720, that's why you don't see her celebrating.(Warning-if you haven't seen the vid, turn the sound down first. Three moms and sis screaming probably still has the guys ears ringing.) My fault for letting the camera get doused with water on Sat. Fortunately the Twelkers had us out Mon. with a boat load of awesome riders and videographer. Thanks so much Peter and Josh for posting this!
Loren, I'm still loving that pic you won the Diamond Mining contest with! Also check out Peter's pic of his daughter Allysa--super stylie! Girls are rocking wakeboarding!
No footage of Shawna's TS BS 180 because she shocked us and herself with it. Thanks Shelby K. & Derek for that!!
Thanks everyone for the comments! We are truly blessed to have so many great friends in this community!

Out of nowhere!!! These girls went from basic inverts to mobes and 7s in a year - to break through what seemed like a plateau in womens riding (with the exception of Dallas). I'm excited to see what happens next season on the tour with Shawna, Raequel, Amber, and Shelby all going for Dallas' spot. Exciting things are coming for these girls.

By Jason Buffalow (buffalow) on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 - 7:10 am:    Edit Post Delete Post
There is no question in my mind both girls will contiue with different 7's and onto the 9's. The love of the sport and progression is second to none. The are humble and truely appreciate everything that has come to them and the support that everyone has shown. I am proud to know the family and appreciate having them in the sport and on the West.

Keep up the great work girls! Look forward to seeing many more history making videos over the next few years.

This is Carla, I dont get on this thing often. But I am so happy for both Raequel and Shawna. Randy is right the girls take some super hard hits, over and over again to learn these tricks. and they are the sweetest girliest girls I know and love. Keep up the great work ethic, keep smiling, proud to know the Hoffmans one and all.

Joe your right, but I think the 9 would come sooner if they had an Epic boat

By Vince Dinatale (supratweaked) on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 - 5:52 pm:    Edit Post Delete Post
Yea,

It's too bad Epic hasn't been able to provide these girls a boat that they promote all over their wake boards. Epic is missing out on some great advertising material. JMO.

Joe, get them a boat ASAP!

Here's a bigger and better version of the same video. It's Flash video (version 8), so playback should not be an issue.

http://www.thechickflick.com/videos.asp#videos

Many thanks to videographer Josh Twelker for letting us post up his video, Peter Twelker for driving the boat, and the following ballast buddies: Patty Twelker, Jeremy Twelker, Alan Hutchek, Teri Hutchek, Ejay Hutchek, Sebastian Mata, Gina Hoffman, Shawna Hoffman!

Damn, I love the slow-Mo too!!

Very very impressive.

When is The Chick Flick II coming out anyway?? I have worn out my CF DVD already....

why wasnt she trying 7's off a double up in the first place? wouldnt it be easier?

sure they're easier of a double... but the landings are harder i'd think. Don't know really, but why go for easier when you can go legit? Nice work raequel!!!
