How's everyone enjoying the April thaw? If people haven't already, I would bet there are a few boats ready to be dewinterized in preparation for what hope's to be a long summer of riding. If you're a Jersey rider, let your fellow Garden Staters know how the summer prep is coming along. Also, there was talk two years ago of trying to put together some type of collective riding session for the New Jersey area riders. I would like to try to get that ball rolling again for early in the 2005 season, so if you know of a good location, starting posting your ideas on this thread. I also have a good spot to suggest, so we'll try to figure out a spot that will work for everyone. More on it later. Alex, I know you're out there and you have the fever as bad as anyone! Let's get cranking on the 2005 riding season! JB |
Can someone tell us about "Carbon" |
Carbon is one of the materials used in constructing a Moose wakeboard. Aw yeah! |
Yo Jeff, I should be dropping the boat in the Avalon tributaries around mid may...still a little chilly but that itch needs to be scratched! Oh yea, I did finally land that Front-roll...Sa-weet! I am so up for a NJ-Day Wakeboard Style!!! Not sure on a central meeting place, but it's early enough we should be able to get the buzz going! Kevin |
Count me in, we just got back from FLA that taste of warm weather has me going.. There are a few of us who run out of Trenton on a regular basis, its channeled and has a couple of coves tie up in. There is usually plenty of parking (Saturdays of course are better) the ramp has decent access from I-95 / 195 / 295 and Rt.1. Here is the address. City of Trenton Waterfront Park 1595 Lamberton Road, off Rt. 29, Trenton 609-989-3169 Paved ramp No Fee 40° 12' 18.6" N 74° 45' 46.9" W Eustace
Ah yes... I've been waiting for this thread to get rolling again. This past Sunday it was a balmy 60º so I cut the shrink wrap off the Super Air, I reinstalled the the bimini cover, I scrubbed and oiled the teak swim deck, I charged and reconnected the battery, though still on the trailer in the driveway I fired-up the CD player and cranked the tunes, I took some measurements for new Pro X Series fat sacks and I reset-up the mooring whips and spring lines out on the dock. I also got my first sunburn of the year! The engine is getting unwinterized this coming Saturday, and if for some reason I don't paint the bottom this weekend I'll paint it next weekend. Then once the bottom is painted it can go back in the water and the 2005 season will officially be underway. A New Jersey riders wakeboard fiesta extravaganza? I am so there. Of course, I'd love that it happen in Turtle Cove with a follow-up barbecue lagoonside in Manahawkin, but Turtle Cove really isn't an ideal location for a wakeboarding event unless we rent a pontoon boat or two for a floating home base. What about your secret spot JB? If there's a friendly ramp (my Astro Van isn't 4WD) I could tow the SAN TE where ever it needs to be. Kevin's Horse Shoe is a pretty cool place too. But in the short-term picture, my boat is going to be back in the water in the next week or two. Once it's in, as long as it's reasonably sunny and not windy I'll be out there in my dry suit splashing around in the frosty salt water. So if anyone's interested in some early season cold water numbboarding, give me a holler. Finally, I have a friend Mark from northern California who's now living in Brooklyn, and he's a diehard wakeboarder who's to get back in the water. Even though he's a west coast guy living in Brooklyn, he'll make a good addition to the NJWC. Let's keep the NJ stoke high men! Alex
See what happens when you don't really know what you're doing? That last sentence should read "...a diehard wakeboarder who's ITCHING to get back back in the water." I tried to underline the word "itching" and I ended-up deleting it and underlining the rest of the post. Oh well... |
I'm with Eustace, the delaware river is an awesome place to have it. The water mid summer is around 85 and there are plenty of coves to party in. |
So that's not you @ Carbon mag,it must be another J.B. |
Uh... this is West Coast turned Brooklyn guy Mark Checking in. Alex was gracious enough to hook me up with some great riding last summer. I am looking to ride whenever, wherever this year and I will have at least one day off in the middle of the week as well as weekends. I hope I get to meet and ride with more great people this year. If anybody needs a third with gas money and a good attitude, hit me up! |
I'll be out on Lake Hopatcong very very soooooooon |
Eustace, is that the stretch of the delaware that you can see right just south the Rt 295-Rt 195 intersection? I've seen that spot a million times and thought it, or areas close by, would be a great spot. While the riding spot I was going to suggest would be great, it's much more convenient for everyone to go to the spot near Trenton. DOes anyone know of a launch ramp and/or marina that has good facilities for food and other essential items? I am soooo amped to make this thing happen this year!! |
That’s the spot Jeff,, There is not much in the way of food on the river, the only place I can think of in that area is Curtin Marina in Burlington (its kind of small if memory serves me correct). Gas and Ice you can get a place called Ross Marine (I’m pretty sure that’s the name). Just north of the Trenton ramp is Katmandu, decent food / drink / outside deck it’s just not accessible by boat but there is plenty of parking as long as there is not a baseball game that day. E.
Just moved to Jersey from OHIO and am looking for some good people to ride with. I was on the waterski team at Ohio State University and am and avid rider. My boat is still in Ohio and was going to ditch the idea of riding this summer until i found this forum. I live in Red Bank and am wondering if anyone rides in the area. Although I know the spot yall are talking about on the Delaware. Also, have any of you done any Kiteboarding? I hear it is awesome at Sandy Hook. |
Due to having the wrong floor jack with me to lift the boat off the bunks so I can paint under there, and because I had to do some serious unscheduled repair work on my bulkhead, the Super Air wasn't launched this past weekend. However, the engine has been unwinterized and the bottom is mostly freshly painted. So, as long as is doesn't rain, the boat WILL be back in the water this coming weekend. Frozen head drysuit cold salt water wakeboarding anyone? |
yeah a lot of kiteboarders in sandy hook...i bet they are there now. |
I head the state marine in croyden Pa there has been overtaken and now a season pass or day pass is needed to launch your boat. just a heads up |
Now that I think about it, LBI has a boat ramp and parking area that's not far from Turtle Cove, and there's a bar/restaurant right on the water with boat slips called The Dutchman's. While parking is free at the ramp, there's a daily ramp fee of $10. Also, The Dutchman's doesn't have much of a menu, it can get crowded and the prices are definitely higher than they need to be. But in the final analysis, if there was no place else LBI could handle an NJ wakeboard party. Plus, Island Surf & Sail usually has a slider, a kicker and a fun box set-up in another area of the bay. If we had a jet ski and if I made arrangements with ISS, we could probably go over there for some shallow water slider mayhem. The ISS guys may even want to get involved; even though they're mostly a bunch of kiteboarders now. http://www.islandsurf-sail.com/kitesurf/pics.asp |
Yo, I'll be movin out to the Philly area in July from Utah, and I know I will be dying to ride once I've gotten there since we've been riding since Feb here. I would love to hook up with some people to go riding. I won't have my boat though as I'm selling it before I move, sad day it will be, but I'm always down for gas and cleaning.
Holy Smokes...this stinks for me!!! Last week I got my travel schedule...on the road for 7 weeks! At this rate my boat won't hit the water till July! I guess that's what you get when you work for a startup technology company! Anywho... Alex, If you need, I can tow your Nauti with my Tahoe so we don't have to worry about ramps. Jeff, I know the interests will pick up on this...had you a date or dates (we can do this more than once people) in mind for getting together? What's the water temp like in that area of the Dela-Scare? Oh yea...Glad to hear some people are moving East-Side! IMO it's better than in the pictures! |
Come on in the waters fine! (Just don’t swallow any of it.. lol) Usually by the first couple weeks in June you can pack the spring suit away. Occasionally if they get a lot of rain to the north, the water can get a little chill to it. Chris, is the State Park Ramp still free for PA residence?
nada. its been bought by 3 seasons i believe. So its either a day charge for ramp usage or a season pass. It sucks . AND they are also adding more slips in the marina. Its already hard enough to manuver our other boat in there , and now they are going to pack in more slips. Who knows, maybe it will deter some people = less crowded ramp |
Ok men. I spoke with Terry at Island Surf & Sail, and he said if we have our NJ Wakeboard Extravaganza in Manahawkin Bay we can use the shop's slider park. We'd just have to come-up with our own jet ski because the slider park water is too shallow for wakeboard boats. It could be very cool; Start the day boarding in Turtle Cove, then once everyone's spent we cruise over to the slider area, anchor, hang-out, eat and laugh at each other as we kill ourselves trying to hit the sliders. There's even a little island we could pull-up to and stand on (I'd recommend wearing water shoes). We'd also pick-up an handful of local ISS riders too. Kevin: You have a truck? I thought you were driving a Volkswagon Golf or a Honda Quaylude or something. You're possible late boat launching is a real bummer. My boat will definitely be in within the next two weeks. Anytime you want to cruise to Manahawkin and ride just give me a holler. In fact, I could probably use a driver on Friday May 27.
yea I decided that Far-from-groovin was no longer a way of life for me...the wife on the other hand is racking up the VW Beetles...just got her a second one. The 2005 Convertable. Had it about 3 weeks ago...that thing is sweet!
Any NJ riders been out yet??? Where? how was the water temp? Gotta live vicariously through you right now!!! |
Well, the boat is now totally ready to go. Weather permitting it will go back in the water next Sunday (because I have to work Saturday ). Then minutes after we drop it in we're hoping to do our first wakeboarding of the season. Yes, I'll be sore Monday, but it's a soreness I look forward to each Spring! If you want to take the ride to do some cold water boarding Kevin just let me know. |
Sunday will be my first day out also. I just saw the forcast for sunday and it's going to be 75 and sunny. Let's keep are fingers crossed Alex. |
Alright people, I'm throwing a prospective date and location out there for the New Jersey Wakeboarders Summit! DATE: Sunday, June 26th. LOCATION: Eustace's spot just outside of Trenton. This locale will be a good central meeting point for people coming from all around NJ and PA as well. The spot itself looks like there is plenty of area to park ride and we can set up a beach area not too far away from the launch ramps. It is plenty deep, easy access and good to go. It's just screaming for a wakeboparder party and dammit, we're just the people to do it! More information to come on specifics, but please let me know if this date and location works from everyone on here. Once it looks like we have the green light on the date and location, I'll start pulling together some essentials like music and grills and the sort. Hell, we might even have to get some t-shirts made to commemorate this great day in New Jersey wakeboarding lore. I'm envisioning a fun day on the water where we set up a beach front and come and go at a leisurely pace. I already have 3 boats ready to roll for that day and location. Let's come together, brothers and sisters, to make the first ever NEW JERSEY WAKEBOARDERS SUMMIT a low key yet awesomely fun reality. I'll do my part and more. Who's ready to join the movement? JB
Man, Jeff, if we could be, we would be there, it would be just like old times!! Hugs, robyn |
First: The boat is in! The weather this past weekend cooperated just enough to get the boat launched, but it was too windy, too choppy and too overcast to board. Nevertheless, the boat is back in the water and weekly weekend riding begins again this weekend, weather permitting of course. Any one up for some cold salt water riding? Second: A New Jersey wakeboard blow-out in shallow salt water Manahawkin Bay would have been way more convenient for my sorry a$$, but if the doctor of event organization JB says Trenton then Trenton it will be. My only concern with the tentative date is the day of the week; Sunday. Towing the boat somewhere on a Sunday is difficult because it doesn't leave enough time to tow it back home, properly clean it and then wrap it up for the week. For me a Saturday would be better. But that's just my personal 2¢ And Three: TeamValdez checking-in on the New Jersey thread! Alright! |
you know we are all just one big happy family!! |
After thinking about it for a day, a Sunday in Trenton is totally fine. If the NJ event would have been held in Manahawkin, I probably would have spent a ton of time and a load of money organizing and planning everything. Then on the day of the party I probably would have spent most of the time making sure everything went smoothly and tending to everyones' concerns to insure it be a fun and memorable event for everyone. But the party's not going to be in Manahawkin! With the event in Trenton, unless JB puts me on double secret special assignment, all I'll have to do is show-up, hang-out and eventually bail. In Manahawkin I'm a New Jersey wakeboarding ambassador/event coordinator/financial backer/activites director/head of security/clean-up crew. But in Trenton, I'm a guest! Eeee-haaa! Trenton it is! |
Wow, I havent been on this place in forever. I only took the boat out 3 times last year and got towed back twice... Spent the $$ to get her fixed up right over the winter and going out for the third time this season today.. (No wakeboarding quite yet)... Glad to see you are still riding Alex! June 26th is also the perfect weekend.. No track days set for that weekend (my other hobby), so I plan on being there! Alex, I dunno what you are using to tow with these days but if you need a hand, give me a shout, if it came down to towing your super luxorious SAN TE or my no frills bayliner, its a no brainer. ;) Anybody ride the Shrewsbury or Navesink rivers? Is riding in the Raritan Bay even an option? I opted not to get a wet slip this year, so I can trailer it whereever... |
Hey Jeff. It's good to see you're still around. I contacted you a few times last year to go out and ride but each time you were wrapped-up in other activities. Doreen was even asking about you recently; asking if you were still around. Obviously, you are! As you may have read, I put the Super Air back in the water last weekend, thus, weather permitting, wakeboarding is on the schedule for every weekend from now until October. If you ever want to drive down for a pull just let me know. I'll be down the Friday right before Memorial Day weekend looking for a crew. Right now my neice and her boyfriend will be there, but neither are boat drivers, thus leaving me in the boat all day. Anyone want to play hookie that day? Check-out this picture. Remember this day out on the bay?
Alex, I'm going to be moving to Philly for school in July and would be down to ride with you guys. My buddy has a super air just like yours, so no worries about finding a driver. I would be bringing my boat out also, but it won't get the use it should, so I'm selling it, pic of it in my profile. I'll email you once I get out there. |
Cool Russ. Give me a shout when you finally roll in. Where I am in New Jersey is a straight shot across the state from Philly. Actually, my shore area gets TOO many people coming in from Philly on the weekends! They're affectionately referred to as bennies or shoobies. But any hoo, I guess I'll talk to you in July Russ. The NJ crew is quietly expanding. There's no stopping it now.
Alex: Yeah, last year I bought a bike and with the boat broken I spent most of my weekends riding the twisties in north jersey. Memorial day weekend I will be riding the track at Virginia International, so thats out for me, but I promise to make it out with you guys this season. And yes, that picture looks very familiar, I think I have that one (or one like it) somewhere. I also have the short clips of the guy doing Rolls (or maybe they were flips, what do I know?).... I just finished installing one of the Heatercraft units in my boat last weeek actually... MMM, toasty! |
Hey Guys... My friends and I actually just started getting serious about wakeboarding this year. Aside from asking which boards are good for what(which I know I could find elsewhere 100 times over), I would like to know more about events around the NJ, PA, MD, NY area that my friends and I may go to so we can scout out the eventual competition. I had a friend that ended up in Trenton to practice for his JetSki races and I was actually thinking that it might be the same place that you are talking about for this event. Could you maybe clue me in? Thanks for any help, its appreciated. |
Brent: JB or Eustace will have to elaborate on the Trenton Spot. I know nothing about it, other than what I've read here. Wakemark and I were going to ride this weekend, but uncertain weather dampened our plans. Doreen and I took the boat out any, but didn't board. According to PerfectPass, the bay water was 65º Hopefully this weekend will provide better weather. |
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the June 26th date, gotta suprised party for a friend that I cannot miss! Gonna have to wait for the 2nd round of the NJ Events to be able to attend!!! bummer for me eh! |
Brent, The launch spot in Trenton is just south of the Trenton Thunder stadium, off of Lamberton Rd. The first half mile or so below the ramp is a no-wake zone. I sold a 2 stand up jet skis to a guy named Charlie from the Hamilton area, is this your crew? Anyway, I got the boat prepped this last weekend and so we are good to go. My wife is out of town this coming weekend so we defiantly shooting for the following. E.
Oh man Kevin. You can't make the June 26 wingding. A bummer indeed. But instead of waiting for round 2, you may want to attend round ½. On Sunday May 29 Connor, Doreen and I will be going out, and also in the boat will be wakeworld guy Mark Johnson from CA/Brooklyn and wakeworld gal Debbie Haggart from Annaoplis, MD. It should be a fun wakeworld mini gathering. Let me know if I should save you a cushion. And what about you Jeff? Want to take the trip down? Maybe even bring your boat and make it a party! Anyone else? |
Two Jeffs here now, so its confusing, but if you meant me for the 29th, I will be at Virginia Int'l Raceway that weekend "racing" the bike... |
Yes Jeff, I meant you. You're Jeff and Jeff Barton in is JB. This coming Saturday is looking good for the first riding of the season. I'm pretty psyched. |
No, thats not my crew.. we are Barnegat Bay fellas.. We've been riding this season for about 2 months now in the Toms River and various coves along the bay... Im looking for a spot to maybe build some pipes and ramps but everywhere seems to be protected (bummer). It sounded to me like the place where my buddy with the JetSki went to was a fake lake...?? or maybe Im totally wrong. Anyone planning on meeting around the shore areas? Point Pleasant to LBI possibly? let me know.. I have a friend whos a meteorologist and he says that its supposed to be really nice this weekend sunny and 70's), not sure about wind conditions though. Let me know! |
We're near LBI and we're shooting to go out this Saturday around mid-morning. Probably again on Sunday too. If any of you NJ wakeboard animals are going to be in the area and want to make it happen, give me a holler. |
Me and my crew are in Alex.. just let us know the location... Oh, yeah. Where is that slider in the pic above? |
That slider is Manahawkin Bay, next to a small island in between Manahawkin and Long Beach Island. Island Surf & Sail www.islandsurf-sail.com has a slider, a kicker and a fun box out there. Because of problems with local officials they are all floating sliders. They built them on old windsurfboards and they secure them in place with anchors. I drove past them last weekend and they're all looking pretty beat-up and in disrepair. Also, the sliders get anchored in really shallow water and they're used mostly by kiteboarders. To hit them with wakeboards you have to have a jet ski. You AND your crew? Hmmm. |
LOL |
Hey Alex... If you need a 3rd for Sunday I think I can make it.. I am supposed to go out tomorrow morning with a friend thats in for the weekend from Colorado, but im betting a late night drinking tonight is going to make it a late morning tomorrow, and he has "mandatory" plans at 2pm... Now that I think about it, you are probably already in Manahickey, so I'll give you a ring tomorrow in case you dont get this. ;)
I'm def. down and so is my crew minus 1.... weather report changed though.. lets see what happens. Hopefully it will clear up in the after noon. Post the meeting place in case any others feel like gettin in. |
I hope you and your crew have your own towboat... Just a friendly reminder.. If somebody invites you out for a tow, that means you, not you and your crew... Unless prior arrangements have been made... I've told people to get lost before they took the liberty to invite others I didnt plan for and there wasnt room for everybody. Not sure if this is the case here, but thats how it came across... |
Alex, You got mail! |
Well, it was another weekend of lousy weather an no riding. We went out Saturday morning, but it was way too windy. The bay was choppy with white caps. We turned right around. We tried again Saturday evening, but once at the cove it suddenly got cloudy and cold. Sensing a storm, we bailed. The lightning started before we got to the dock. We just barely got back and I just barely got the boat covered when it began to pour. Sunday it rained on and off all day. I'll be down again Friday to Monday. Hopefully we'll get a good day or two out on the water. Jeff, call me any weekend you want to board. Chances are we're already going out and I'm sure we could squeeze you in somewhere. KG: I got the email buddy. |
I just assumed we would take two separate boats from the get go.. no big deal. Went out yesterday afternoon (Monday) flat as can be, great conditions. Down to meet up anytime. |
This Sunday, mid-day, Turtle Cove. I'm feeling good that it's finally going happen. KG will be in California. Jeff will be racing his bike in Virginia. Who knows where JB will be globe trotting off to. Eustace & Wiidy will be in The Delaware River. Brent & crew will be in the Shark River. So who does that Leave? Yep. Mark Johnson. Wakemark's making the trip and we're going to have a big day. Hopefully will have some pictures to post next week. If you're towing down to LBI Brent, call my cell. I emailed to you. |
i got the mail and your numbers in my phone, so Ill do that... went out earlier today after the rain stopped - had the whole bay to ourselves and it was flat as can be....great sesh!! |
Hey,, We need a third for Sunday .. Lou and Ant just arnt ready to take the wheel. Have a great weekend everyone! Eustace |
Eustace, How was it on Sunday? We still have our boat in storage. We hope to get working on it this week, Maybe we will see you out there soon. George |
What's up........Haven't messaged in a while,We started riding friday, water wasn't to bad..Looking foward to the big get together (Message edited by mastercraft17 on May 30, 2005) |
Once again, Alex and crew in NJ had me down for another great day of riding. Thanks to Alex, Doreen, and Conner for the hospitality and the huge wake! I am so sore it took me 10 minutes to put my socks on this morning! |
Yep, wakemark was there for our first day out of the season. It was a little windy and the bay was choppy, but we found some decent water along the back edge of Turtle Cove and had a big time! Hardcore off-season dieting, aerobic excercising and weight training has paid-off because I'm hardly sore at all. Only my glutes are a little tender, that's it! This coming Saturday we're shooting for a 7:00/7:30am push off. Here's a shot from Sunday May 29, first day out.
George, we never made it out !...... In short, our Monday third decided around 10pm on Sunday that they would stay down the shore till Monday,,, Anyway, shooting for this Sunday. Glad to see most of you got out. Alex, Nice Pic! How was the water temp ?
The water temp was around 61º That's still a pinch on the chilly side, but a wet suit did the trick. High tide has us shooting for 7:00am push-offs this Saturday AND Sunday. wakemark may be on the boat again on Sunday. Ever tow to the salt water Jersey shore Eustace? |
No I haven’t, not recently anyway, we use to run our jet skis out of Corson’s Inlet in the years BC, before children, I would defiantly be up for a change of scenery. What’s it like to get a hotel down there during the season?
I justed signed up on this discussion, didn't realize so many people were wakeboarding in jersey. I ride down the shore mostly, ventnor margate area, but never see other people out. Anybody ride in that area? I also used to ride on the Rancocas. I'm between philly and the shore constantly, and looking for anybody that goes out during the week. Charles |
Eustace: The Quarter Deck Inn is the first place you hit as soon as you get onto Long Beach Island. Right across the street from the Quarter Deck is parking area and boat ramp. You can check-out The Quarter Deck here: http://www.qdlbi.com/default.htm It's a long drive from Doylestown to Manahawkin though. We're going out Saturday & Sunday at 7:00am if you want to try a dry run without the boat. I'll email you my cell number just in case. wakemark is working on coming down on Sunday. We can make it a party. Charles: JB himself rides over in the Rancocas area. And KG rides down in Avalon which I think is a pinch south of Ventnor/Margate. We ride in Manahawkin which is 35 minutes north of AC. |
Charles...YGM! |
*Lurken the Jersey thread* Alex, tunes workout okay? Ever hear of Dogfight? They sound kinda like Linkin Park. Maybe some Turbonegro?Need some more tunes bro? |
Hey Rich! Lurk away brother, it's good seeing you on the NJ thread! Yeah man, the tunes are great. They get lots of boat play. Do I need more? Always. Well, Sunday was another good day in Turtle Cove. wakemark came down and he didn't leave anything on the dock this time. Big grabbed healside 1s, halfcab toeside 1s, tantrums, heelside frontside 3s and backrolls. Here's one:
After a long Winter, 10-year-old Connor is back in action and taking hacks at the wake. Is this a face of intensity or what??
Has anyone heard from JB about June 26? Ok, I give up. What's "YGM"? |
I talked with JB a couple of weeks ago over e-mail about making a trip to Trenton prior to the 26th, but have heard anything since. We got our first run in on Sunday and not with out incident. We took our dog for his first ride on the boat, while the wife was on the platform getting ready for a run he decides to jump in before we could get his life jacket on, let me tell you “PUGS SINK like a stone” here’s a shot after the wife’s heroic rescue. The riding was good the river was clean, warm, and relatively flat.
Whoa. Anyone up for Greenwood Lake? Water is already warm and have already been out several times. |
Alex, Thanks again for the continued hospitality! Thanks also for the picture. The conditions were perfect and I have the sunburn to prove it. Fortunately I was not quite so sore after this go around. As always, a perfect day on the water! |
Alex, YGM = You Got Mail! looks like I might make it home early...and possibly for the 26th...but we will see. KG (Message edited by wakescene on June 07, 2005) |

is this eustace? i saw this boat and a wakeboard jet boat riding around near us on sunday . great day on the water. i cant wait to go back out. BTW i like this moomba , it has the reverse color of mine
Unfortunately I have to work this Saturday. However, Doreen and I are hoping to go out around noon on Sunday, but as of right now we don't have a third. Perhaps between then and now we can scrape one up. Hey KG! Hurry back buddy. We have some riding and hanging out to do. Great picture of "the crew" Eustace.
Hey Chris we finally made it out Sunday. launched at the State Park paid our $10 for nothing. They must have had a fishing tournement because the Ramp going back was packed. I thought I saw you on Sunday heading North when we were going home? Eustace, I guess we would have seen you but we were down by the cove.
Chris, yeah that was our crew ~. George we must have just missed you, we left the cove around 330 to head home. We won’t be around this weekend but will be back the following. E
Just got back and the water temp. was 83, What an awesome night.Their was much less boat traffic than sunday. Eustance that pug is cute little bugger. See you out there. Brian |
George, hey its Russ from Utah, I was out in Philly over the weekend looking for a place to live while I go to Temple University, and I'm actually going to be living up by you. I'll be living in Rhawnhurst until I find a place to buy, most likely the Roxborough area, unless I find somewhere else I like better that is still an easy comute to school. I'll be heading out on the 21st of July, so I'll shoot you an email when I get there. |
Woody you still going out at Ross? The water temp was 83 up there? We were out on tuesday night and it was 70 by Bristol.

What's up George, I'm trailering the boat this year, it's only 5 min. ride. I'm putting in at Bordentown right where we ride. Cleaning the boat was just too much and I couldn't justify the cost anymore. Yeah, my boat was showing 83 last night and it felt like it. It was great to be back on the water after a late start because of a cold spring. Chris nice picture of Eustace's boat. You gotta love the profile of wakeboard boat. We're still trolling for a third for Sunday. |

can someone tell me where i got to go, to try wakeboard ...??? i don't have any equipment or experience... thanks (Message edited by zeroice77 on June 10, 2005) |
No gear and no experience. Good luck John. Unless you have a friend or family member with a boat, gear and lots of patience, you're probably looking at paid riding lesson sessions. You can try Craig at Surf & Offshore. I think he has some sort of wakeboard school. http://www.surfandoffshore.com/ You can try Terry at Island Surf & Sail. I know he takes people out. www.islandsurf-sail.com Good luck. |

Thay have a cool website. Check it out. www.lines-end.com |

Charles check your e-mail. Brian |

Charles and his girlfriend came to Manahawkin Sunday and we hit Turtle Cove. Unfortunately, as the day progressed it became more and more windy. By the time we got out there wind and rollers from tubers had the cove a mess. Charles and I each gave it a try, but there was nothing there. Here's a shot of Charles. It's one of the few pictures taken.
This coming weekend is supposed to be nice. We're hoping to get out super early both Saturday & Sunday. |
Hi, New to the area but have my boat in Somers Point and pulled my hyperlite out of storage. Anyone from the area with experience or know of any good coves?
I had a question for you guys that Wakeboard on the Delaware. We were out today around Bristol area and got stopped by the Coast Guard for Wakeboarding in the channel. We have had numerious passes by NJ Police and PA Fish & Game and they never say anything. You ever have any warning from them? I can not even find a regulation on the Coast Gaurd web site. What ticks me off is we were out around 9 am and nobody around and they pull this crap. |
George, They pulled the same thing with me last year. I talked to a friend who is in the national guard and patrols with the coast guard down in Philly, he laughed and said it was probably nothing more then a Bikini check and to see if we where partying. |
I've never been stopped in three years of rideing on the river. I had a NJ state trooper pull up close once when I was getting ready to go in the water, but that was just to get a close look at the boat. My one friend asked him if it was ok to drink out there and he said as long as we brought enough for him. Last week after work we had two Coast Guard boats pass us twice and all they did was wave. Did he give you a ticket? |
No, they did not give us a ticket, Just stopped us as my wife was on the back boarding so she had to drop. They did not even do a coutesy check. Just said stay out of the channel and left. We just went further north and boarded as usual. |
Boy you sure get up early 3:20 am? Wow. |
Why the hell would you board in a channel? Not to mention that you cant do this, you have a 60-75' line out behind you that other boats in the channel have to worry about. Not to mention when your rider goes down, thats another obstacle in the water. Channels are places for boats to fly thru without having to worry about skiers/boarders and anchored boats, etc... Personally I think you are crazy for doing it. I certainly would not want to go down in a channel. I am pretty sure this is a state law so looking it up on the CG site wont return anything... |
Anybody know what the story is for this upcoming weekend? Somebody set a date for the 26th but I havent heard much about this event afterwards... |
Virtually the same thing with us, the line was taut and the wife was read to go when they pulled up. He tells me that a large ship had to break course because a skier was down in the channel so he was advising us to ride out side of the channel (meanwhile my wife is sitting out 70’ in the channel while he is telling us this). With a deaf head grin I asked him if they would be responsible if I tear up my boat running out of the channel, he was less then amused and answered “no”,,, “Ok then I’ll do my best “ I said and they let me on my way. I always steer clear of those big ships when they are around and its unfortunate that they had to break course, but since when are they not responsible for what’s in front of them? Jeff, in that area it gets shallow pretty quick outside the channel not to mention the bottom has loads of rocks and boulders. You could be cruising in 10’ of water and come up on a boulder that is less then a 1’ under. Haven’t heard anything about the 26th in while, we will be there if anyone is still interested.
Not sure where you go boarding at Jeff? Where I usually go the channel is at least 2 of those big barges wide. I am guessing 250+ feet. I know if I am down the shore the channel is alot narrower and we would never go in something that narrow. Also if we see a barge or a Tug coming we get out the water and move. We have never had any of them yell at us or sound there alarm. We try to be very aware of Commercial Traffic on the water. |
Jeff came to Turtle Cove Saturday, we all had a good time, and we were no where near the channel. Here's Jeff going wake-to-wake.
Here's Connor gritting his teeth and going for the grab.
Jeff didn't know how to work my camera, so only a few shots were taken of me.
With no apparent structure or organization in place, we won't be towing to Trenton on the 26th. Thus, the 25th and the 26th are going to be to more big days in Turtle Cove. People have been finding their way to Manahawkin pretty regularly already this season. We've been having wakeworld riding sessions without even really trying. |
First off, I suck for dropping out of this thread for a month! I am sorry for not keeping the momentum for the 26th Jersey wakeboarders summit. I am still intetested in getting together with anyone/everyone who'd be interested. Eustace, can you provide directions to the launch ramp? What do you guys think for a meeting time? 10 AM? Let me know and I'll get back into making things come together. JB |
Eustace, the channel is a right of way for moving boats, which is why you arent allowed to swim in there or drop anchor. I ride where it is very shallow as well, but the bottom is somewhat predictable and I have my spots picked out, but I usually do have to ride in high tide. Boat traffic where I am at would make skiing in the channel a pretty stupid thing, even though I do see it happen, often with little kids on the back of tubes?!@ (very irresponsible of the parents) Keep in mind many of these large boats are no where near as nimble as our little skiboats and stopping distances for them can be very long.. If its a risk you are willing to take, thats fine, as long as you understand the risk and know the rules.. George, the channels by me are fairly narrow, usually 100' or (much) less... And as I mentioned, lots of traffic. Im guessing the patrols in your area have been understanding and lenient in enforcing the restrictions as long as its done "responsibly", which is nice of them. Alex, thanks again for a great time, and I really need to keep that board horizontal! JB has returned from the dead and is still interested in the 26th, but it looks like Alex is out. Is the spot you guys planned on riding part of the channel as we have been discussing? |
Jeff, you are right and like I said I stay way out of the way of those things. Come down and ride with us sometime, you’ll get a better idea of how it’s laid out. Like George said there is more space in the channel then outside. I just get a little miffed when it feels like your getting hassled and there are so many people out there with out a clue, especially the ones hammered out of there skull from swilling booze all day zig zagging tubers or getting too close to other boats. Ok sorry about the rant. JB: I think this should do it: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&2si=navt&un=m&2gi=0&cl=EN&ct=NA&2n=MERCER+COUNTY&2da=-1.000000&2rc=L1AAA&rsres=1&1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=Rancocas&1s=nj&1z=&2ahXX=&2y=US&2a=1595+LAMBERTON+RD&2c=TRENTON&2s=NJ&2z=08611-3517 |
We should be able to make it up there. We launch down by the state marina and will drive up. Where are you going to be meeting on the river at? I have never boarded above the electric plant. I thought there were a bunch of no wake zones up that way. |
Eustace, I may try to make it out Sunday then depending on whats going on... There are definately a lot of people out there without a clue. 3 years ago I often went out without a spotter so it was just me and my girl driving... With perfect pass to worry about throttle control and a decent size rearview mirror, she did a much better job driving that the kids out there with 8 people on the boat to spot, yet the driver spends the entire time looking back at the rider and not the boats in front... I ride motorcycles, and its annoying to see police out there enforcing the seatbelt law (which only puts yourself in danger) than the cellphone ban, which puts of 2 wheels in much greater risk. Big pet peeve of mine... If the channel is as wide as it sounds and traffic is light then I can understand riding in it... |
It's supposed to be a nice hot weekend. Love it. Two riders from this thread want to come to Manahawkin this weekend to ride. That may quickly grow to three from this thread and possibly a wakeworld female from Maryland. I'm thinking the alternative wakeworld ridefest is going to be in Turtle Cove this weekend. There have been different wakeworld people on my boat every weekend since Memorial Day. I think it's time to gather them all together. I'm totally not trying to sabotage the Trenton gathering or to splinter this thread. I'm just maintaining the spontaneously emerging Turtle Cove wakeboarding movement. Anyone else interested in hitching his or her cart to this wagon? |
Aw yeah! While the number of participants wasn't what my goal for the New Jersey Wakeboarder Summit, the desired vibe was certainly in full effect. Eustace and his family (including Louie the sinking wonder pug, this time fully strapped in his own vest!) were gracious enough to have me out riding with them and it was a great day in deed. We rode, ate and forged new friendships, all of which were at the heart of our intended gathering. I am dissappointed in myself for letting this date come and go without putting more effort into getting everyone together. As Eustace will support, this riding spot right out side of Trneton is an outstanding spot for a future wakeworld get together. Of all the riding spots I've been to in Jersey, this is the best, both from an access and a riding condition standpoint. That's not to say there wasn't some traffic. At one point we were completely overtaken and surrounded by a group of chubby PWC drivers who either didn't know or didn't care to exhibit any knowledge of boating rules and regulations. Brian (Eustace) deserves a medal for bravery for safely navigating us through that pack of dillweeds! I hope you guys at Turtle Cove had a great day of riding as well. While we didn't all congregate together, there are new people riding with new people all over the place, and that, my friends, is the underlying intention of the New Jersey Wakeboader Summit. So it that regard, success has been achieved. Looking forward to riding with Eustace, or anyone on this list, in the very near future.

Just butting in for a second ... where exactly is Turtle Cove? LBI area? I'm coming from Seaside/Toms River. |
Turtle Cove is on the way onto Long Beach Island on the left hand side. If you come down the Garden State Parkway, you'll exit at Route 27 east. As you're going over the bridges onto the island, Turtle Cove sits about a half-mile off to your left. |
hey guys, i am paul. i live near phillipsburg nj/easton pa. if anyone needs a third anytime i am available after work or on weekends. how is the delaware river with the ramp out of milford, nj? that is really close to my house. thanx. i have come to the conclusion i should have checked out wakeworld earlier i did not know there were so many jersey boarders around. |
Is this it?
yehp we were out of commision due to a failing fuel pump . then new one should be in today |
Hey It's wakeworld gal from Annapolis, MD. Hope to meet whomever of you all this weekend! Looking forward to it! :-))) Deb |
We were hoping to go this weekend but other things came up. Hopefully another meeting gets set up sometime later this summer and we can make it. |
JB and Eustace were in Trenton, Mark, Charles and I were in Turtle Cove. Yes Gosia, that's Turtle Cove. I have a house pretty much right where the Beach Haven West dot is. Hey Debbie! It's good to see you here on the NJ thread. It's will be fun getting together and riding this week weekend. Here are a few shots of the 609 TCC this past Sunday. Charles grabbing stalefish.
Mark grabbing stalefish.

The 609 TCC, left to right: Mark Johnson, Me, Charles.
While out in The Cove a lime green X-Star pulled up loaded with people and racks full of boards. Instead of filling the ballast tanks and wakeboarding, they inflated a couple of tubes and then began whipping each other around. Some one spent $50,000 to pull tubers around and ruin the "good" water for everyone else. Oh well. Such is reality on LBI and in Turtle Cove. We're hoping to go out at around 6:00am on July 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Debbie will be there! |
Hey guys, sorry I've been away for a bit - my outdrive seized up on my boat and I've had a hard time getting a hold of a new one for a decent price... Good news is that I've found one and the boat should be ready before the 4th. Also have had time to get my new board from SOS in Point Beach. I've been towing from the back of a PWC which is nowhere near as exciting. Glad to hear that everyone has been having a great time and I hope to join you in Turtle Cove around the 4th if the boat is ready. Gosia - let me know exactly where you are. Im in TR also, so maybe we could get together if you ever neeed a pull. Alex - put me and my crew on the list of boats to meet up in the cove. Can't wait! Nice pics from your sesh too. I've got a few pics here - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkono00/my_photos |
Brent, thanks for your offer, but I'm not much of a wakeboarder, just kind of dabbling. The bf and myself bought one of those wannabe wakeboarding boats from Yamaha everybody is dogging ... we launch from Seaside and want to come check you guys out at Turtle Cove. |
Turtle Cove is not a big place and it can't handle too many boats at once. Especially the tubers and water skiers who drive around in circles and totally ruin the water. That's why we love the super early morning high tides. In the early morning we have the place all to ourselves. Turtle Cove is shallow and high tide dictates when we can go out there. We're shooting to be out there at 7:00am July 2, 3 & 4. If any of you are towing up, let me know. There's a $10 boat ramp and parking area right across the bay. I'm leaving for Manahawkin on Thursday and I won't be back online until next Tuesday. If anyone's coming, let me know. Otherwise just look for the white/blue/gray Super Air Nautique. Hey KG...are you back yet? |
who are the people that go boarding in the delaware by trenton/bordentown? i was boarding up past the power plant (coal plant past the no wake zones) and didn't see too many people...water was perfect and no boats in sight (everyone was sitting at the sandbar which perplexes me)..we launch at bordentown, but haven't ventured up that far towards trenton.. |
Yo Alex, Yea I'm back...finally! Karen and I are heading to Avalon thrusday-monday. Micah (remember him) is going to be down too...maybe we can meet up this weekend and ride!!! boats in the water...but coming out so I can add a couple new lines and pumps...(gotta love the salt) KG |
Justin we go on the Delaware, have a 2000 Mastercraft 205 Burgandy Prostar with a tower if you see us. |
George, were you riding this past Sunday with 4 people, one of whom was a girl wearing a helmet? Whose ever X Star it was had a HUGE wake on it! I was with Eustace in the Yellow Moomba Outback. |
No Jeff I wish I had an x-star. I have seen that boat up there before, We have a DD 205. We went out early Sunday morning but we did not stay out late enough to make it up where you and Eustace were. I am hoping next time there is an event we can get together. We went out last night and the river was glass it was great. |
Hey KG: It's good to have you back in the Garden State! I'm heading down Thursday after work and Doreen is heading down Friday after work. My Friday is wide open if you want to hook-up and ride. Friday at The Shoe? We're pushing off pretty early Sat, Sun & Mon, and you and crew are welcome any/all days. Wakeworld Deb from MD is coming up Saturday night for Sunday morning's wakefest. We can make it a party! Micah? Hmmm. You mean this guy?
Of course I remember Micah! We all had a big day at The Shoe last October. And a giant pizza afterwards! My phone will be on all weekend from Thursday on. Give me a holler if you want to get together. Finally, all this talk of the "glass" on the Delaware River definitely has me interested in giving it a try. |
We had a great time as well; it’s always good to meet new people. I found out one of my neighbors is really into snow boarding and has wanted to try wakeboarding for some time, so Saturday we are taking him out to get his first ride. Great shots from Turtle cove! Here are a couple of JB from last weekend. Ant thinks JB is Shaun Murray from the Detention DVD and I can’t convince him otherwise, so JB as far as he is concerned you are “The Guy from TV”.
Paul, we use to run out of Milford / Upper Black Eddy, but someone bought the only decent private ramp and closed it. The water there is usually like glass but it is very shallow especially this time of year. ~Everyone Have a Great weekend! Looks like the weather is going to be perfect.
Eustace maybe we will see you on Saturday we are going out around 9 and be headin north until we find good water. |
Alex, if you want to ride the river i'll take you out. Charles and you could ride up together, Let me know. Brian |
Cool Brian. I may just take you up on that offer. The long July 4th weekend was pretty much a blow-out. Saturday was the best day and we rode until it got crowded with tubers. Sunday Deb Haggart came up from MD, but the wind was bad and the cove was unridable. Conditions were a little better Monday, but not much. We rode a couple of sets and quit. We can't go out Saturday, but we're looking for a third for Sunday July 10 around 9:00am.
Hey all, Im new to wakeboarding and not very good but i enjoy just being able to get up and also the time spent just being on my boat.If have a 18' Sea Ray bowrider and usualy ride on the Mullica river when ever i can find a crew to go out, which isnt easy to find most times. I was wondering if anyone had good spots to wakeboard with clean calm water. I live in Marlton N.J. Thanks |
Welcome Jim, The Delaware has been decent this season. It can get choppy when the winds pick up like this past Sunday. E |
Eustace, Iwas always led tobelieve that the delaware was dirty and the undertow was real dangerous. Is this not true or a myth? I have a great spot on the mullica but the state police are starting to push us out. They say that even though its not posted that a law passed 2 years ago bans all water sports on our side of the bridge. They want us to go on the otherside of the bridge but the water gets choppy and salty on that side even on a good day.My spot has great cedar water and days your okay but some times the state police will come up once in a while and throw us out. |
hey Jim, welcome!...my g/f and i launch out of bordentown and usually hang out between the power plant and the trenton thunder stadium, each time we have been out there haven't been any boats..sometimes it gets choppy, but it's been pretty decent... |
hey Justin, Im not familiar with that area, how is the water. Im in Marlton which is about 17 min. from the tacony palmyra bridge and to be honest i wouldnt go in there because of all the trash in the water. Is the water cleaner up north then it is down my way? |
I've heard of people riding in the Mulica River by me but I've never been there. We always keep our eyes and ears open for new riding spots. Turtle Cove can get crowded this time of year. The last couple of weekends have been relatively uneventful so I really haven't been posting. And if I post looking for a third, no one emails me! This past weekend we rounded-up a couple of riders off of another regular Turtle Cove boat. They were thrilled to ride behind a Nautique. This Saturday we're going out around 3:00pm and staying out until dusk. The evening high tides and evening riding are always sweet. On an unrelated subject, check-out this link: http://earth.google.com/ You can download a free version of global satelite imaging here and it's amazing! You can practically look in your own window! |
Alex, this turtle cove spot sounds nice one weekend ill have to grab a person or two and get directions from one of you so i can drop my boat in and just hang out and maybe learn a thing or two from you guys.As for the Mullica river spot if you go early in the am it is like heaven on most days. |
We went to check out this Turtle Cove last weekend. Looks like an awesome spot, but it took us quite a long time to get there from Seaside. No wakeboarders were there at the time, but there were a LOT of flies and they were biting! |
Jim: Anytime you want to come to Turtle Cove just shoot me an email. 70 east to 72 east to the Manahawkin Bridge and you're there! Right on the other side of the bridge there's a friendly little marina on the left. The ramp fee is only $10. Then Turtle Cove is pretty much a straight shot across the bay from there. We'll be out there this Saturday around 4:00pm. You came to Turtle Cove Gosia? If you make the trip again you should let me know. This way there WILL be wakeboarders out there when you get there. So the greenheads freaked you out a bit, huh? The greenehads are definitely a key component of The Turtle Cove experience. http://www.stopbitingme.com/Greenhead.html If the trip by boat is too long just drive down and come out with us.
We'll see what the weather is like this weekend. So far it doesn't look that great. In any case, I have your e-mail with the #. Thank you, Alex. |
Alex: It sounds like i need to get some bug spray before i go to turtle cove. This Saturday I promised my daughters i would take them to Great Adventure to see Jeff Corwin from the animal planet channel. So i will order some spray and we will come down in a couple weeks. In your profile picture is that Turtle cove behind you? This weekend ill post a picture of me and my boat so everyone can put a face with my name. Have a nice time Saturday and ill be down soon to hang out and watch. |
Yes Jim. The picture in my profile was taken in Turtle Cove last September. The buildings in the distant background are across the bay on LBI. When you want to make the tow, just give me a holler. Saturday's forecast is currently a little ify, but as long as it's not raining or windy we'll be out there. |
Ok I updated my profile to now include a picture of me and my ride.We are heading out today just to take a ride with the kids.Hopefully I'll get a chance next week to get a couple friends together to try some more wake boarding. |
Have any of you guy's been in the river lately, we went yesterday after work and the water temp. was showing 88, it's crazy warm.
We got out last Saturday between the rain showers, the conditions where pretty good and hardly any boat traffic. The water has been warm this season, only had to use my spring suit once back in May. We are heading out this Sunday around 11, we will be over in the cove if were not riding. Woody I saw a boat like yours running down near the Philly airport on Suday?
Woody we were out last night also. We were right by Pennsbury manor. I guess we should had gone up a little further. The water was nice for sure. We were also out on Saturday but hung around by the cove we were done by noon. We are heading to the shore for a week so we won't be out for a little while. |
Eustace, I saw you towing the boat home Saturday in the pouring rain and felt for you man. As for Sunday my boat was in my driveway, so it wasn't me. Sunday I'm heading out around 8 a.m. so maybe I will see you out there, I just love that early morning glass. |
Last weekend's constant overcast/threatening skis had us unsure whether to go out or not. We went out Sunday and had a good day until the tubers and skiers came and ruined the water. We're hoping to go out this Saturday and Sunday around 7:30/8:00am, but we still don't have thirds for either day. Where ever you may be this weekend, ride hard fellow New Jersey wakeboarders. |
I just got my monster tower today and im gonna try to put it on saturday so I can test it sunday.Anyone put one of these on before? |
Hi everyone, my name is Cole, I live in NY city, Im from Oregon originally and have been wakeboarding since I was about twelve. I was just back home and got to wakeboard for the 3rd time all summer. Flying back on the plane, I was angry that I might not get to wakeboard again, and I was inspired, to find myself a lake and someone nice enough to let me pay or work or whatever needs to be done, to get a ride. If anyone would be willing to give me a try out, I dont take up much room, I am well versed in boat etiquiette including driving, and I can throw it down pretty well. Or if not just let me know what lake towns are accessible by bus within an hour or two, that I could get to and try to bum rides. I greatly appreciate any help I may recieve and HAPPY RIDING! |
Jim: I put a universal Joy Stick tower on my old outboard. It was a knuckle-busting job complete with fiberglass splinters. But over-all it really wasn't too difficult. The only hard part was reaching up under the gunwale trying to fasten and tighten nuts where I couldn't see. Cole: Maybe we can work something out for next weekend. |
Jim, let me know anytime, if I have to work, I'll quit and come ride. my email is harlemice@comcast.net and my phone is 541 619 4946 Thanks man Peace Cole |
Alex: You were right it took me 4 hours and couple nice splinters but its on! Now people will mistake me for a wakeboarder. The hardest part of the install was getting up the nerve to drill that first hole in the side of my boat. Tomorrow morning we are going to the Mullica to test her out.
The boat look's good Jim now you need to test it out on some of this.
7:50 am Sun Delaware river (Bordentown) Very nice and water temp. was 89. (Message edited by bwood on July 24, 2005) |
Woody: Thanks, we tested it on the Mullica on sunday and WOW! Not only is the tower a great piece of equiptment but man does it look great too. I'm a novice wake boarder but I could really feel the difference in my riding. The mullica was great, we got out at 8:30 and the water was great. |
Nice work Jim. Your boat totally has a new look now. We went out Saturday morning and took local LBI rider Ian. He has spent the last four months kiteboarding in Thailand and Viet Nam. He hasn't been out with us since 2003. Here he is grabbing stalefish:
Here's he's just starting a 360:
Not bad for not wakeboarding since the last time he went out with us in 2003. The Turtle Cove water was 82º This coming weekend we're going to hit The Cove around 4:00pm on Saturday. That Delaware River glass looks excellent woody. |
Alex: Thanks, I got some of that green head spray and hope to get 1 or 2 guys to come down with me soon to watch you guys ride. |
this past sunday was horrible with all the tubers..we went out at like 3pm (earliest we could get out), however by 6 it was perfect..everyone leaves for dinner, and there's 2 hrs of glass and no traffic.. woody that's a nice shot of the river..i know exactly where that spot is..there was a yellow/white boat pulling a boarder but i am blind and couldn't see what it was, thought maybe it might be someone on here.. |
Yo Alex, I noticed you post the temps on Bart's site...We gotta get together soon to ride! I should be in NJ for the next several weeks. REMINDER to NJ RIDERS: Wildbills Ama Competition is Aug 6th, in Avalon. I have been trying to get details but not much has been said, I hope to have an update soon. Whether the comp is kewl or not, it would make a great day to hang at my place and meet up with a few of you to ride and chill. If you don't want to bring your boat to salt, no fear mine is already there! I so far only have one person heading over with and got room for a bunch more. KG |
KG what is Wildbill's AMA comp? My g/f an I would be interested in checking it out..Avalon is just a shoot down the parkway... |
I emailed Jeff Barton and hopefully he will be able to get some additional detials in the next week or so. Justin, It's a little event that was put together in 2000 and got pretty big over the past few years. It's your hardcore grassroots wakeboard event. Low key and not perfectly formatted but still a good time. There have been 4 of them, but last year was skipped (not sure why) but rumor has it that Bill is going at it again. In the meantime, here's a link with pics from the past events...(it's a little weak right now, I have been really poor in keeping up the site in the last year, but I got a redesign in the works) Wildbill Ama Page If the event does not work out though, you and your g/f are more than welcome to come down to Avalon for the day and hang with me and my friend Micah. We'll board and chill, get some food and be a bunch of bozo's for the day! later in the day the horseshoe gets glassy, ask Alex he's been there! If the Event is good, bring your boards and a few chairs, we'll set up camp on the beach and relax the day away! drop me an email if you like and we'll set something up! KG

That looks like a good time...My girl and I are in our first season, so we aren't as good as you all but we would love to come down and just chill with some other people... I'll drop you an email and see what we can set up...Thanks for the invite as well... |
KG: Let's go man. When you're ready to ride and hang just let me know. My boat in Manahawkin or your boat in Avalon. It doesn't matter. Let's just do it. We're hoping to push-off around 3:00pm this Saturday, stay out until dusk and get back around 8:30. If any combination of you/Karen/Micah want to come out with us, come on! It's practically August and we haven't hung-out once yet this year. Let's make it happen. And we're totally in for the Wild Bill thing. Should I tow down the Super Air? Jim: Any time you want to make the trip to Turtle Cove just let me know. But if you're, you won't just be watching us; you'll be going for a pull or two. Are you weighting your boat? I have a couple of fat sacks and a pump I could probably sell. Did I mention I was trying 3s last Saturday? The first attempt I spun cleanly and landed flat but I totally missed the handle pass. All following attempts had the initial pull of the handle to my back hip throwing me off axis resulting ugly falls. |
Alex:usually i weigh my boat down with 2 or 3 people who are afraid to try to wakeboard they just want to kneeboard. I don't know if I'm ready yet to try to wake bigger wakes.I still haven't jumped wake to wake yet i am a real novice but trying. Its tough to learn because I have a group of kneeboarders and I'm the only one trying to learn to wakeboard.
Alex, Yea we gotta hang soon. You tryin 3's, sa-weet I was doing blind 180's all weekend attempting the courage for 3's but was just getting tired, we shoudl motivate each other. Towing the SA is up to you, we got my boat, but hey bring it down if you like and we'll tie them together during the event and make a party out of it. Looks like Justin and his g/f might make it down too, could be a jolly ole-time! I got a place to park it off-street if need be.
KG, I was wondering a couple of things about that comp. 1. How far away is Avalon from Manhattan 2. Is it possible for me to enter the competition Sounds like a good time. let me know man Peace Cole |
It looks like Charles is going to be coming out with us on Saturday. If anyone's thinking about making the pilgrimage to Turtle Cove this would be a good time to make it happen. Again KG, when ever you want to hang and ride just give me a call. My place or yours, your boat or mine. We can huck 3s and crash until we're delerious! The Wild Bill Extravaganza is going to be great. Is there auser friendly ramp nearby where I can launch and leave the van and trailer? Is that place with the giant pizzas still open? Jim, you have to get your crew off of those kneeboards and onto wakeboards! Tell them to stand up like men when they ride! |
Alex: That is too funny.I keep trying but they are scared. The funny thing is that they suck at kneeboarding. All they do is pretty much ride straight behind the boat. LOL |
KG: I was wondering about next weekend. Is it a guys day out or is it familys and girlfriends? Im not sure yet what my plans are, but Im very interested in coming down if you would have me. |
We went out yesterday on the Mullica but the wind was too much. We had big rollers so we did a little knee boarding and tubing. |

Jim, It's gonna be like a guys day out, but if Justing attends, he may be bringing his g/f, which is cool too! come on down.
KG, what time does the event end? We are coming down to Ocean City on Saturday to start our vacation but we cant get in our place till 2pm, so would assume by the time we gat settled in the event will be done. Is there a get together afterwards? Thanks, E
Eustace, Yupper, gonna be a big party afterwards! Actually from what I got over the weekend, the competition is going to float over to another house close by and jsut dock-up and continue the blasphemy! |
KG- I tried to see by the pictures, but couldn't exactly tell what kind of competition there will be. I would probably be intermediate or advanced, but am not sure, could you offer any insight? Also was wondering if there is a possibility to rent or borrow equipment there. Thanks man Peace cole |
I believe they follow the classes listed here on WW...http://www.wakeworld.com/Tourney/trickcatselect.asp As far as equipment, I would recommend brining your own if you have it. There have not normally be the availability to rent equipment in the past, but I would not know this year till the day of the event, sorry. |
First, Charles came to Turtle Cove this weekend and we did some good riding. Here's a Charles nose grab.
Now for the business at hand: Doreen, Connor and I will be towing the Super Air down to the Wild Bill wakeboarding extravaganza. Boys' day out or not, we'll be in the "family mode" and still having a total big time. Please email me the details Kevin and we'll beach our boats side-by-side for a big day at the shoe. But here's a question: Is anyone here planning to enter the event? I figure even if I go out there and face plant, my $40 will support the event.
Hey everyone I posted on this thread a little while back about moving out to Philly for school, well I just got here on Sunday, and I've got nothing going on until the 25th of August, so I'm dying to ride, especially since I sold my boat before I moved out. Give me a call at 801-910-5812, ya its a Utah number, haven't had the chance to change it over yet, or shoot me an email at russmorrell@hotmail.com or russ@bentstakeproductions.com I'm more than happy to chip in for gas, cleaning, driving, etc.. and don't worry if you don't live in Philly, I'm used to driving to go boating usually about 45 min to about 4 hours to go to Lake Powell.
Alex, I was planning on entering the event, but I need to find a board. I live in the city and am from Oregon, all my back there. If I could borrow a board from someone that would be awesome. I'd be willing to give anyone like 20 bucks just to let me use it. Im a 10-11 foot size. This event sounds pretty fun, and although I will most likely fall on my face, it should be a good time. |
KG do you have to enter if you're down there? my girl and i are planning on heading down, i'll bring my board, chairs, and a cooler filled with some nice cold beverages...i'll shoot you an email sometime today and we'll get the details all ironed out... |
Cole, I will be out of town and unable to make this party but Alex has my board and you are welcome to use it if he takes brings it there. What size feet do you have? I have an extra pair of CWB Zuess bindings you can use or buy cheap or whatever. I cant think of what size they are but my feet are 10's and they fit nicely..... |
Cole: I can bring wakemark's wakeboard for you to use and I can bring some old O'Brien Sport Morph adjustable bindings. The Sport Morphs are far from high end, but at least you won't be spending the day standing at the water's edge. Let me know. Yo, wakemark. What's up man? I haven't heard from you in a while. I'm hopeful everything is alright. After skimming through the wakeworld tournement trick list catagories, I think I'd have to be in the intermediate class. Yeah, me and ¾ of everyone else there. Russ: Come down to the event this weekend and hang out. Who knows? You may end-up getting a pull. |
not sure how I missed this but... Cole - I have like 5 different boards and 4 different bindings at my place...I can bring them all to fit you best...email me and I'll list what I have that might match your OEM! Justin, dude just come on down with your girl, no need to enter if you just want to hang, that's completely kewl with me. email me and I'll get you directions to the event and to my place incase you want to ride out in the boat instead of parking your car! KG |
Where is the comp at this weekend, I'd be down to ride, but I may be going to New York with my flatmate and some friends, plus I'm still a little rusty for comp conditions, last night was my first night riding since going to Lake Powell for two weeks filming for our new video, which I didn't get to ride much anyways as I was behind a camera most of the time. Also a big thank you goes out to George and his family for taking me riding last nightand giving me some pulls, I had a blast, and look forward to riding with you guys again. |
Alex: I know man, I have been a ghost lately. I actually have some pretty good stories to tell. First: I have not emailed you because I crashed my computer lost and every single email address I have. Second, I have not called you because I "lost" my phone and was using a backup that I have with no numbers stored. I have since found my phone under the stove, charged it up, and got your texts, sounds like I missed some good riding. Third, I had a little problem with a friend that came to visit me, developed a fatal attraction, and would not leave my apartment. Things were fine, and I gave her keys, which she had coppied (unbeknownst to me). She then "left to go back home" only to return a few days later and was sitting in my living room when I got home from work. Police got involved, family was notified, I got a little scared of this girl and have been jetting out of town every weekend to avoid any "incidents" .....email me, my email addy is the same |
KG, I emailed you.. damn wakemark, sounds like you had a stalker on your hands... |
wakemark: Yes, you have missed some good days out in Turtle Cove. Think about it. You haven't been there since the day I yanked the boa knob right off of my binding. But sheesh! You've clearly had your own choppy water to deal with. It's too bad you're going to miss the Avalon event. I think it's going to be a fun day. It even looks like Charles and his girlfriend will be there. I'll email you from work on Thursday. Alright men, this is my last post until next week. See you in Avalon. |
Justin, did you get my reply? |
NOPE...i haven't and i just checked my email.. try sending it to the email in your PM.. |
KG i emailed you again...i left my cell# in it in case you wanted to call me..I can get to avalon, but i don't know how to get to your house or the event.. |
Well, aside from the extensive waiting...I'd say Saturday (WildBills) was a good day. I was great to meet Justin, Michelle, Cole, Charles & Jamie. finally get to put some faces to names. I look forward to future outings with all of you! congrats to Conner and Charles for placing in their categories. I'll write more later...working right now! KG |
Well Michele and I think that Saturday was a blast!! We had so much fun meeting and hanging out with you all, and truly thank each and every one of you for your awesome hospitality!! Congrats to all the lucky winners, Charles, Kevin, and Connor!! It was a great day and we are looking forward to getting together sometime soon.. KG, thanks for taking us for some pulls on your boat, you really spoiled us, that boat is sweet!! and tell Micah we said thanks for giving us pulls while you were driving Alex's boat..we had an awesome time.. Ps. Michele again thanks Micah for letting her use that board... |
Yes, it was indeed a great day at The WildBill event in Avalon. Charles, Connor and KG all brought bragging privilages to this thread by placing in their individual classes. Congratulations men. Here's Charles, Connor and KG with their hardware (and some guy's butt).
There are plenty of pictures to post and plenty of stories to tell. More soon... |
I would like to second all of the comments made by all of you. It was a damn good day, and great to meet all of you and see that everyone was so cool. Thanks to KG and Micah for the boat and board. I got on the wrong bus, was stuck in traffic for 5 hours, didn't get there till 4:30, got my ass kicked in the event, lost my shoes, didn't get home until 5:30 in the morning, missed work and almost got fired and it was probably one of the best days I've had in a while. I should have some good photos to post soon, until then later all. Cole |
Oh man Cole, you almost got fired..Michele and I were talking on the way home about how bad we felt because of your ride home...Sorry to hear that..I'd like to see some of the pics you took with that monster of a camera you had..
Here is some pics I got from Alex: Me, Michele, and Micah
Boat full of ladies
KG and his medal
I'm in! Nice medal, Kev... Cole and Justin, it was really nice meeting you guys and I hope we can do it again. Alex, great seeing you this weekend. Now...where's that Chicago area discussion board? |
my face is a nice shade of lobster-red in that last photo!!!
I went through all my pictures from Saturday and there's only one action shot. Kevin grabbing melon:
I know this is a loaded question, but is one of you missing your WildBill event t-shirt? I some how ended-up with an extra one. You know, my birthday is coming-up. Maybe I should coordinate a birthday party wakeboard fiesta. Hmmm.. |
that sounds awesome Alex... I'm not missing my t-shirt, but I did however leave my binding lube in KG's boat... Micah, forget Chicago, NJ is where it's at!!! |
Alex, 1 - Nice shot I like the wake splash. Good height, solid grab...Sa-Weet! Wish someone would have snapped the Tantrum though... 2 - Is that shirt a large by chance? might be mine! Justin...yes you did, and it's still...well was there! . . . . HAHAHA just kidding...I have it safe and sound. In fact, I think my dad prefers your lube over mine. Dad, Micah and I went out Sunday and had a blast! Dad was ripping butter slides and challenging the wake, pretty neat to see a 71yr old rip! I gotta say he's got better form and technique then a lot of boarders in Avalon!!!
KG: Yep. The t-shirt's a large. And unlike Justin's empty bottle of lube, it's safe and sound. Whether in Manahawkin or Avalon, we should be riding together again soon and I'll give it to you then. . This Saturday Justin & Michelle are coming to Turtle Cove for some late afternoon/evening riding. We're hoping for few tubers and good conditions. Anyone else want to make the trip? |
that's so awesome your dad goes out boarding.. Was he wearing his "old guys rule t-shirt"? that would have been dope.. glad to see you had a good time..i like that lube, does the job..i always laugh when i see these "binding lube" threads and people are complaining about the usefullness and smell, i mean christ it's just slime to get your feet in!! We'll be down in Turtle cove tearing it up this weekend, should be a great time! michele and i are stoked! |
Keep us posted on how the board works out for michelle...should be a great board to start things out for her. (hope the binding fit too) Glad to that it is being used and not collecting dust! I have to admit, Karen and I got him the shirt because of his boarding itch! |
KG: There are tentitive plans in the works for wakemark and I to tow down to Avalon early Saturday morning, August 20. I know where the boat ramp is and I'm pretty sure I can find my way to the shoe. However, Doreen may stay behind to hang with her girl crew on LBI that day. So, are you available to be a third/driver bright and early on Saturday August 20? This road trip is still in the early stages but I'm hopeful it will come together. And I'd be sure to bring your WildBill t-shirt! |
I'm so freakin' jealous... |
There's totally room for you on the boat too Micah! Maybe it's time for another road trip to New Jersey. Who knows? Maybe Justin and Michelle will show-up too. It will be another big day of free riding at the shoe! |
Yea I'll be there, Kar and I are heading down tonight! I'll drop you an email! |
Hey, you guys should check out this contest they have going. You go out in your own boat, with whoever and do a tournament style run, and then record your scores and send it in, its all on the honor system, and they give away prizes. Sounds like it could be something fun to do. Its under the contests page at the top, and its called the Wakeworld Online tournament. |
hey ive been a little late on this forum cause ive been checkin out boats too buy and i got a yellow and gray mc tristar so if any of you guys c me in the florence robeling area give me a holler (florence ha a great ramp if your looking but u need a permit) |
Alex everything work out ok over the weekend? I was fully expecting to hear from ya. conditions were ok at the 'shoe' little windy made for interesting drifting while changing boarders. Fixed the stereo too...now it's louder and clearer... |
Nice weekend on the Mullica, I got some nice riding in and I'm building a little more confidence.
Hey KG, we had a great time on Saturday..A little windy, some choppy waters but it cleared up later in the day. We all got some riding in, got eaten alive by those F*$%king greenheads, but all in all it was fun. A big thanks goes out to Alex & Doreen for their hospitality..Michele and I appreciate the pulls. Alex even got a few good shots, wait till you see my tantrum attempt, I think it's one of the funniest shots and will eventually become my profile pic... Our new bullet ski line came today while I was at work..We're stoked, and michele is actually out today while I'm stuck here..It sucks!! Oh well!!! KG, Alex, what's up with this weekend? Is everyone getting together down at the "shoe"? we'll hang out and have some fun..The end of summer is fast approaching, we all need to get in as much riding as possible.. Alex if you need any help getting the boat on the trailer or anything let us know, we're just a shoot down 72.. KG, the bindings were too small for Michele, she went and bought 05 LF Mynx's (which is what she wanted)..She was having trouble with the choppy water and the smaller board being faster, but she took it out today so I'll give you and update..Thanks again!! Jim, looking good there! The water looks pretty nice.. (Message edited by newmy79 on August 15, 2005) |
Jim, Nice to see ya out there having fun. Quick tip, try holding the handle overhand. It will give you a little more control. I notice in the pic that your holding it like a slalom skiier...fine for skiing but will throw off your balance boarding. hope it helps, KG |
Here's our new line & handle
Hey KG, notice anything familiar about Jim's handle positioning? Maybe you can help him out since you helped me out with the same problem!!.. |
KG: The Avalon trip is/was supposed to be THIS coming Saturday, August 20. I didn't mean to leaving you wondering this past weekend. I wouldn't do that. So, just what ARE The plans for this Saturday, August 20? Right now I'm thinking Turtle Cove at 8:00am with wakemark, Justin, Michelle and anyone else who wants to go. Then back to the house in the afternoon sometime for a self-indulgent birthday party for me! No gifts or anything, just barbecue, beers and friends talking wakeboarding. Towing to Avalon still isn't out of the question, but it's a lot of work. Plus, how can I host a party for myself without my house?? But, much like the annual WildBill event, this is all sort of tentative until it actually happens. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Maybe we can even get Cole back down to the Jersey Shore again. Cole, email me. Maybe we can finally get Jim and his fancy hand positioning to make the trip across the state. Maybe Micah will chopper in from Chicago. Charles is in Manhattan and won't be back down until Labor Day weekend. Maybe woody or Eustace wants to represent the Delaware River crew. Sheesh. How many people can I jam onto my boat?? I know I can only rack four boards. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I mean, we have like a whole three or four days to plan... Justin: Yes, the summer is drawing to a close, but we board well into October. The first time we went to Avalon was last October, and we didn't even wear wetsuits. A couple years ago we hit Turtle Cove on November 1! |
My hand positioning isn't the only problem I'm having right now . I still can not jump wake to wake. I land right on the inside of the second wake every time. Also its getting harder and harder to find people to go out with. Alex: If your gonna have this get together and have room Ill adjust my plans a little and could come down for a couple hours but then I have to drive to Ocean City to help my in laws with a few things at their house. I could use the advise and laughs from you guys on my riding. |
Alex Happy B-day! In advance, I wish we could make it but we are packing up heading home from Ocean City on the 20th. I defiantly want to ride with you guys at least once this season even if I have to dust off the full suit. This vacation has been great but I am itching to get out and do some boarding, I picked up a skim board for Ant and I have subsequently spent the majority of the time on it just to get some kind of fix. There is something comical about a 37 year old out skim boarding among the kids but what’s a guy to do. Connor, Charles, KG, Congratulations on placing at Wild Bill’s, it looked like an awesome time. We will be back on the river Sunday the 21st.
Alex- I got an IM from Mark. I told him that I would love to come down, but I had to check my work schedule. I dont work, so I will definitly be coming down. I think I may have lost his email though, I know its wakemark@ something, could you remind me of that? So I guess he has a car or something and I'll just ride down with him. Sounds like it should be another good time, so anyway, remind me of his address, happy birthday, and peace out. Cole |
cole, mjohnson@bmwnyc.com We are going to leave at the butcrack of dawn Saturday morning. Email me later and we will figure out where and when to meet up. Alex, I am looking forward to getting back down there and hanging out with the (new)crew! Who else is going to be there? Can I bring some female companionship? Please???? |
Hey, guys. We ride on the delaware too. I know I've seen some of you out there. Please list your name and what kind of boat you have. Mine is a Maristar 230 w/tower, white/tan. Stop me and say hi! See you on the river. Dave
Dave, I've been riding with George and his family, great people, down here by Bensalem, PA on the Delware. He has a mastercraft 205, it's white and maroonish. Oh ya and my name is Russ. |
Ok, let's do the numbers: Me, Doreen, Justin and Michelle are confirmed. That's four people and three boards in the boat right off the bat. Add a wakemark and a Cole and we're up to six people and five boards. Then we have to consider the KG/Karen variable, the Jim exponent and wakemark female friend factor. Oh man. Can we comfortably and safely pile all these people on to one Super Air? Turtle Cove is remote and doesn't have a beach and parking lot like the Avalon Horse Shoe. Sure wakemark. Bring the girl. The more the merrier, especially at the post-boarding beerfest & barbecue. With six or eight people on the boat there probably won't be a need for fat sacks. Jim: We'll be going out around 8:00am and staying out for at least four or five hours. Cole: Alright man. I'm glad you finally got in touch with wakemark. See you Saturday. What do you think KG? Are you in? No problem Eustace. We'll get together and ride before the season's over. |
Yup, Karen and I talked about this today and were in...but looking at 10 people...were gonna have a squeeze! Think we can do it? Seriously comtemplating towing up the MC for this...spread us out over 2 boats. What are your thoughts? |
Russ, Hello! I met George out there, I know his boat. I hope to be out again this sat. morning. What kind of boats do Woody and Justin have? I know Elias has a tristar and Eustace has a yellow Moomba. Saw a guy out last weekend with a black/white X10. Met him later at burger king. Lots of boarders around! Very cool!! |
Uhh, I am confirmed! Confirm me Alex! Cole and me for sure. Sounds like the woman will come too! Her name is Michelle also..... Hey, what do you say we start an NJ riders thread part II? This one is getting kind of long.. |
Hey! I sort of like that this thread is so long! It chronicals our season. KG: I'm glad you and Karen are in! Bringing the MC to Turtle Cove would be very cool, but I totally know how much time and effort that requires. We're up to nine confirmed people so far and two boats would be nice. We'd have room for Jim! It's totally up to you man. wakemark: Alright man. You totally know your way to the shore house. See you, Cole and Mish2 8:00am'ish Saturday morning. Justin: Are you still with us? You haven't posted in a while. |
Hey guys...I finally took the time to register!! Alex: Justin and I are definitely coming on Saturday. We are very excited to get together with everyone for your birthday (and meet some new, Jersey riders). KG: I took the board out on Monday behind the old Invader and it worked out well. I am starting to get more comfortable on it. A big thanks to you and Micah!! Dave: Justin and I ride on the Delaware. We put in at the Bordentown ramp. We board behind a 1980 Invader outboard. We will be looking for you out there. |
Hey Alex.... It sounds like this is finally going to be the extravaganza that was spoken of waaaay back on April.....scroll up....umm...still scrolling....April 11th....Where is JB? I can't wait for saturday and I look forward to wishing you a happy birthday in person.... |
I actually emailed JB last night and extended him an invitation. But you know, this is his busy time of year. I really don't expect him to have no preexisting plans for a Saturday in August. My actual birthday is the 29, but with all of us together in one place I figured it would be a good time for a celebration. And again, while this is sort of a birthday party, gifts/presents are totally unnecessary. As far as I'm concerned, everyone being there and hanging-out is the perfect gift. |
I'm here I'm here!!! As michele stated we're in!! See you bright and early saturday morning..And I will bring some nice cold beverages!! This is turning out to be quite a party!! And a couple more people we get to meet as well! 2 boats would be money! If I had one I'd bring it down... Cole did you ever get those pictures developed from riding at Wildbill's? Dave NICE Maristar!! I'm very jealous.. My g/f and I ride behind a light blue/white 80' Invader with a pylon, it's an outboard. We are always launching from bordentown, and we usually ride up by the stadium.. |
Hey Dave! Sweet boat. Most Sundays you will find us in Trenton riding somewhere around the power plant then hanging in the cove across from the Steel Mil. The usual crew is me (Brian) of course, Annette, our son Anthony and cast of thirds, oh yeah and Lou the pug he always makes the trip. See you out there, E.
Alex thanks for the offer but I have way too much to do this weekend. Have a happy birthday and have a beer on me. The offer is always open if you want to ride. I just wanted to post a picture of my boat so people know who I am. I'll be out tomorrow after work, see you out there.
It's official...I'll be towing to Turtle Cove the the Saturday Event!!! this should be fun! |
Justin, Michele, Russ, Brian and the rest..... Hope to put the names with the faces soon. Have fun this weekend if I don't see ya. Saturday on the river is where I'll be. Dave |
Dave, I'll see you on the river as well as it sounds like I'll be going out with George and his fam, he's suppose to give me a call tomorrow to give me the final details. If you ever need a third let me know, I'm always down to ride. |
Hey Woody how do you weigh your VLX? And do you use the wedge? Just trying to find out as I also had an 04 BU when I was back in Utah, it's in my profile pic. |
KG is going to have the MC in TC! Ohhh yes! It's going to be a great day of riding, hanging with fellow riders and consuming adult beverages. We should be able to get a good 5 or 6 hours of riding under our belt before low tide creeps in. But by that time we should all be about ready anyway to kick back, relax, eat and hoist a few cold ones. I'm hoping to push-off around 8:00/8:30, so everyone set their alarm clocks. I'll probably be up and about by 6:00am, so there's no such thing as arriving too early. Welcome to the thread Michele! |
I cannot wait till Saturday!!! Alex, Michele and I will be there around 7:15 to help with anything, (we'll be on time because all stores are closed so she won't be shopping).. Dave, we are looking forward to meeting you sometime on the river.. Woody, we ride in the Delaware from Bordentown and I have not once seen your boat, and who could miss it..Oh well, hopefully we'll get to meet soon! |
I'm so excited to meet everyone finally and nervous to be out with people that really know how to wakeboard that I don't know if I'll be able to sleep Friday night when I get home from work. |
don't sweat it Jim...just a fun day out on the water! that's the main reason I won't be sleeping! |
We will be out on Saturday morning on the Delaware. I have not seen Woody or Eustace when we have been out? Russ is coming with us and should make it a good time with his 360's and backrolls. Maybe one of these times I will get to Turtle Cove. We go to Chatsworth Dirtbiking and Turtle Cove is a little ways past there. |
Russ, I just the use the stock ballast (900lbs.) and the wedge with four or five people and think it's an awesome wake. But I'me always up for a seggestion if you have one.
Everyone bring a camera to Alex's this weekend...lots o' photos...lots o' photos!!! |

Woody- the way we use to weigh my boat, bear in mind that we were usually riding at around 5-6500 ft elevation depending on the lakes, but we would throw on top of stock another 600-1000 upfront, and another 350-550 infront of the back speakers, depending on what we threw up front, and we would drop the wedge giving us a big solid wake that had crazy pop, take tricks straight up. When we wanted a less vert wake we would use 900-1000 up front, 350 infront of back speakers plus 500 on each side of engine, with no wedge. This takes a while to fill up, but gives an amazing wake for taking spins and inverts out into the flats at 80-90 foot rope length and around 23.5-27 mph, which we all rode at anyways. I loved riding both ways, each would give you around a mid thigh to waist level wake size that was rock hard and very poppy, but the wallet got hit a little harder doing it this way. Give me a ring at 801-910-5812, we should go ride sometime. |

If the big wake and the crashes don't F you up enough, the afternoon adult beverages probably will! Either way, every one should be all banged-up by the end of the day! Justin: Thanks for the offer to bring food. I'll have food there, but if you want to bring something, bring it! At a party/barbecue there can never be too much food or too much beer.

So, for the record, tomatoes, cucumbers, and all other things with seeds on the inside are in fact fruit. Ask Jeeves if you doubt me. Alex and Doreen, Thanks again for your hospitality! It was another great day @ TC. How much more summer is left? Is there any "Indian Summer" in NJ? (read: native american summer) KG, Karen, MicheLe, Justin, and Jim, It was great to meet you guys! KG thanks for the double ups and the skate sesh. Let's make sure we all get out again before the end of the summer. Who's got more pics? |

Yep, It was a great day out in Turtle Cove. In response to everyone's "thanks", you're totally welcome. In response I thank everyone for making the long drive just to ride, hang-out and listen to my goofy guitar playing. Of course, extra thanks go to Kevin and Karen for bringing the Mastercraft to the Cove. Having two killer wakeboard boats for our one little party was amazing. Thanks to Jim for the ice and card, to Michelle for the brownies & cup cakes, to Justin for the adult beverages and to Mark for the horticultural enlightenment. Look at us... Are we a cast of characters or what!?
It was a definitely a day to remember, and yes, we should do it all again soon. September 17? On a sad note, while out on the bay Sunday and picking-up one of Doreen's friends, I hit something and bent my prop. By Wednesday I should have a new prop and puller kit in my hands. I'l leave work at noon on Friday to get down there by 2ish. Changing the prop shouldn't be difficult. Getting the both the boat and the trailer to the boat ramp at the same time while alone will be the tricky part. Anyone not busy early Friday afternoon?? |
