DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Sealed Sub Qtc
In my experience with JL Audio, they are going for a balanced and neutral sound. I think listening tests by some very critical ears are the final determination and that is why you see some small deviation in the target system 'Q'. Too low of a Q...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Amp to replace JL M4300
I like the JL Audio M400/4. It's under-rated by about 35% and it still produces all of its rated power with a lower 12.6 volt supply and across the entire audio bandwidth. It's a true marine unit with a closed chassis and a sealed cover panel. Nic...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Bluetooth recs?
Hate, Seems predictable that RF transmission would be compromised when mounted so low. However, just thinking out loud. I wonder if the BT portion is on a daughter board or integrated into the main circuit board. You probably can't extend an ante...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: In-Boat speaker amp cutting out when bass hits
Also, get a real ground distribution block rather than stacking all those lugs on a single post. I recommend limiting three lugs per post maximum even with a large battery 5/16" post or a 5/16" or 3/8" battery switch post.

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: In-Boat speaker amp cutting out when bass hits
The visual reference could be deceiving but I see several concerns. Is that really 4-gauge cable feeding all amplifiers individually? Is that the 'funny' cooper-clad aluminum alloy wire or all copper? A lite buss bar is no replacement for a pr...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: In-Boat speaker amp cutting out when bass hits
Your 800.4 should be in the highpass mode. Temporarily remove the turn-on lead from the sub amp (rendering it inoperative) and check to see if the 800.4 behavior changes when driven hard with the same material. Do the same when completely faded a...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Sub + Amp wiring question
[QUOTE=sidekicknicholas;1910214]^ Awesome info!!!! Thank you for that reply! Looks like its just going to be a matter of me starting from scratch and building a system of components that were meant to be together rather than try to salvage the ...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Sub + Amp wiring question
[QUOTE=Truekaotik;1910194]Ask and you shall receive... Look up Steven Kephart of Adire Audio's article on Q. 12volt.com brother... No way I know something David doesn't.... Somehow I feel a rebutted explanation coming on why everyone else is wr...

DavidAnalog made a post in this thread: Sub + Amp wiring question
[QUOTE=Truekaotik;1910167]Honestly, there is no harm only running one coil wired on a DVC. The only negative affect will be power handling loss from 1/2 to 2/3 less. Which equates to less output :(.. A resistor on the other coil will change the Q ...
